Soehnle Comfort 300 Slim Kitchen scales - Soehnle seem to have battery compartment issues! – Up until recently I have been mostly happy with these scales. I had to change the battery a couple of weeks ago (mind you, button batteries are a PITA and expensive!), and within a couple of days it showed as 'Lo' again - with a brand new battery! I changed it again and almost immediately got the same notice. On closer inspection, I found the tiniest piece of plastic broken in the battery compartment - part of what was supposed to be holding it in. It was ridiculously tiny for such an important function! I'm more than happy to and capable of mending items, but given the minute size of this - around 4mm long x 1mm wide (!!!! to hold something in place!!!!), there wasn't a chance of mending it. I tried taping the battery compartment closed - I hate having to get rid of things that should have a longer life - environmentally! This appeared to be working, but when weighing fruit (so not overly heavy), I kept getting different readings for the same items! When my husband put an unopened 425gm can of beans on the scales and they read 180gms and several readings either side of that within a gram or 2, then we knew our trust in this item had been broken. Accurate readings are very important considerations in our family for dietary reasons. I don't think I can put my trust in the reliability of Soehnle scales again, particularly seeing the flimsy bit of plastic in the battery compartment. Not happy that I now have to spend my valuable tie researching a new set! ADD TO THAT - we have Soehnle bathroom scales and I have had to tape the battery compartment on those also as the batteries slip out a little all the time and they stop working. I think you have a battery compartment issue SOEHNLE!
