They sound good. Reliable and comfortable – I've had these headphones for over two years now. They are, hands down, the most reliable pair of headphones that I have ever owned. By now these should have been in the bin like my sennheiser which costed several times more. Usually the cups fall off, the plastic sizing device fails, or worse still the cord frays either at the plug or at… Read more

where it connects to the headphones. I've had a decade of expensive headphones dying on me and when i saw these cheap one I thought that I could at least afford to replace these every 6 months. Two years later and they look new still!

These things have taken so much punishment I'm at a loss of how to actually destroy them (thus justifying my next purchase).

Onto the the quality. Well these days its difficult to qualify the qualities of a pair of headphones. I could say the sound is vibrant, and the response levels are good however really I have no idea what that means. Sometimes i think the sound is a little muddy and there definitely are differences based on the device i'm listening to. They seem to do better with a device that has greater levels of output. On a 1-10, a 3 is where the apple headphones land and a ten is like a pair of $20,000 electro statics with valve amps in your pocket, these CANs hit a 6. Definitely better then your apple headphone, and within range of a a $150 pair of sennheiser.

Onto the aesthetics and comfort. I certainly feel a bit conscious wearing them, they ain't small but then again these days you can walk around with some pretty silly looking CANs and people won't bat an eye lid. On a scale of 1 to 10, ten meaning that your probably the sexiest dude on this planet, then i'd rate these a 5.

Re comfort they are definitely up there. I wear them for a good 5 hours a day with nay fatigue or discomfort especially seeing that I wear spectacles. I've had some CANs that leave marks on your head, that force your ears against your glasses and its been painful as hell. Some that take forever to get to the right size (and always slide around) but these things are rock solid seriously comfortable. Plus, for those who really wear them for long periods of time, they seemingly don't smell (big benefit in the work place). I'd definitely give these a 8, maybe even a 9 for comfort.

The long cord was also what drew me to these devices. Its got a massive cord. Some complain but that's like buying a dog and then realising that you live in a one room apartment. Seriously there are other headphones out there that are good and that have shorter cords. Its right there on the box, "really long cord".

I like the benefit of plugging in and being able to stretch back from the telly or be able to wheel around the office and not find myself destroying/pulling stuff all around.

Summary: these headphones are a great purchase, I'd call them a 7.5 especially seeing that I got mine for $40. You could get them at $70-80 (oh dang, $20 direct from Sony!) and even then they'd be a good purchase, especially because of the reliability factor. If your an audiophile, you'll probably find them a little muddy and yeah a bit soft depending depending on the device. They are certainly not design for uber loud music.

If you plan to walk around and stuff maybe there are better suited CANs but for those who'll be using these at a desk they are certainly a good purchase. inexpensive, reliable, comfortable sounds a little muddy

Good – For the price, it is a decent set of headphones. Would have been nice if the cable length can be retracted and detached from the headphones set. The long cable comes in handy when one watches DVD and sitting quite a way from the TV set. The sound produced depends on what audio equipment one is connetced to. For example, sound quality from a… Read more

laptop is vastly different from a hi-fi equipment.

The sound can be quite dynamic when listening through a good audio amplifier. Good high frequency and decent bass range.

Bought it in Canada for Aud $ 36.00 which is a very reasonable price.

The headphones are comfortable and wrap around the ears and can be worn for a couple of hours quite pleasantly The headphones are a bit too bulky.

Does not shield one from outside noise which can sound tinny. On the other hand it is not meant to be a passive noise abatement tool.

The bass can be non-existent if one listens through a laptop.

Bad – In order to 'hear' the sound through these, one must turn the audio source three-quarter volume and increase source bass to get a satisfactory result. I do NOT recommend these headphones for anything other than a desktop PC or small TV at close range. They are totally useless for DTS/home theatre/Hi-Fi stereo equipment etc. Disappointing. Their… Read more

performance is woeful. Sleek lightweight design, comfortable feel. adjustable headband. Reasonable audio quality for the price (around $60.00 in D**k Smith's with 12 month warranty). Nice colour tone of the earpieces. the 3.5 metre cord helps as opposed to short flimsy cables. Apparent 'low volume', lack of sufficient dynamic bass. minimal audio range. Tinny/distorted audio. They do not block outside noise at all - in fact, they make it appear louder. These are no better than walkman/discman earphones. Terrible.

Excellent – I bought this for ipod nano, especially sitting at my computer and travel. I'm a little surprised to see how they are thick, but keep the noise and excellent sound quality. If you do not mind the length of the cable and the fact that they are really compact, I recommend that even if they look a bit like Princess Leia, you can not beat the price. Great for the money cable size 3.5 meters is too long

Good – The SONY MDR-XD100 is quite a good buy at a price where most ear/headphones are cheaply made and break easily. They are comfortable to wear but fans of heavily bass-oriented music will be looking for something with a bit more "ooomf!". If you don't mind the lesser bass and the unusually long cables that come with this headphone set than I think… Read more

that this is worth the purchase. Pretty good quality for the low price, feels comfortable as promised. Inconveniently long cable, bass acceptable but could be a bit fuller.
