Sunbeam BRITA Maxtra Cartridge WF0400

Oh, what a difference! PURE LUXURY – For an activated charcoal filter, it's very good at what it does! There are some things in life that are life changing and this is one of them!!! Anything that uses water in the kitchen now gets it's water from the Maxtra exclusively. Tea never tasted so good and coffee even better! Soups, cordials, ice, anything that uses water for human consumption then this is it.
Can't believe I've been drinking the chlorine, lead, copper, arsenic and the pesticides in SA water for years and now that is gone forever.
Tell you what, when you get this filter going you will be drinking a lot more water!
Best thing since bottled water...
Functional but flawed – Nice unit for the bench. Works well, holds a good amount of water. Easy to clean and operate. The chiller component failed after six months. Could not be bothered with warranty replacement. Cut the power cord off to save back space. Someone needs to tell Sunbeam to give away the chiller idea. Works well. Hold 7 litres of water. Chiller is a joke. Worked for 6 months and was very noisy. Glad actually when it failed.
Great cartridges – These are great water cartridges water is always crystal clear and it's so much better than buying bottled water, also cheaper obviously? There easy to put in and take out and instructions are clear and easy to follow. Compact in size easy to dispose of and are always in Kmart, target and often you can get them on a sale. Everything Nothing
Crystal Clear Water – I find this to be efficient and reliable. The filter takes the yucky taste out of tap water and turns it into tasty filtered water. Cost effective over buying bottled water and easy to use. I have found this product to be an excellent purchase and will do it time and time again. Reliable
Reliable and Effective filter cartridge – There are dozens of reviews for the Sunbeam Water Filter range. As you can probably see, the same issues keep turning up - chiller breaks down, noisy operation, complete failure etc. I've had the same experience with my filtering unit but I persisted with using it anyway. So its not chilled anymore, thats what fridges are for. However, the filter cartridge is another story. The BRITA filters are really good for their price. I picked up a pack of 3 cartridges for $30.00. Slightly better than the $12-13 I was paying to buy them seperately. So theres a recommendation straight off - buy the multipacks and save some dollars. If you follow the 'before use' instructions you should have absolutely no problems with these. But you must follow the instructions. That means shaking them under water until the bubbles stop. And then running two complete cycles of water through it. Failure to do this may not leave any perceptive taste difference but....and this is worth noting...if you don't do it properly, you will notice a fine layer of silt (charcoal powder) slowly build up in the bottom of your filtered water chamber. This has to then filter into the drinking water, surely.Again it may not be something you can taste but it can have an effect on your health. I completely forgot to prepare a cartridge properly right when I first got the unit. Afterwards I noticed the charcoal dust, but I had also been suffering from constant feelings of nausea which I couldn't explain. I spoke to a MD friend who told me that charcoal has that exact effect on people. Thats why you are given it in order to clear your stomach contents sometimes in hospital. Interesting. I am not saying that was the cause but the timing was impeccable and, once I had stripped and cleaned the unit, the nausea stopped.
This is not a fault with the filter unit or the cartridge. This is simply an observation. BRITA products are generally reliable and safe to use but they can't account for the brain fade of the average user so should not be responsible for me not following instructions.
Anyway, great product. Filtered water rules!!! And you can't get much better than $10 every 2 months to drink healthily. Better than $4 per 1.5 litre plastic bottle isn't it? Easy to use, easy to install, easy to follow instructions (so follow them), cheaper than buying it by the bottle If you fail to prep it properly, you could enjoy some lovely charcoal dust in your water. They are a little hard to find sometimes

Tasteless, odourless, crystal clean water - quite fast filtering, at 7 cents per litre. Can't go wrong!
