Great Unit, use it 3 to 5 times a week – Bought this skillet after growing tired of replacing non stick coated skillets, due to the non stick coating failing/pealing as early as 6 months of use. The Sunbeam is easy to clean, and after seasoning the surface as instructed most foods do not stick if I use a little olive or canola oil. Heats up fairly quickly. I use it as often as 5 or 6… Read more ·  1

times a week.

Great for cooking chicken breasts with the right temp. Also cooks steak well. Which I found the ones with non stick coating do not do well.

It is up to 1600 watt, plenty of power, and well in front of the non stick units, which are generally around 1200 to 1300 watt, not quite enough.

Temperature regulation is fair but a little behind what I would like. This is not a deal breaker though.

Only real criticism, is the outside of the skillet does not heat properly. This is only a problem with omelettes, leaving my omelettes uncooked on the outside and runny.

So far very happy, and if it proves to be durable, by that I expect more than 5 or 6 years, would buy again. I would like the warranty to be 3 years, and not 12 months. In my personal opinion the length of warranty shows the makers confidence in the product, and is generally a major factor in my purchases.

When looking for this skillet I saw a few "refurbished" units. This did worry me, and for a while I was deterred from buying. But bought it and so far 4.5 out of 5.

Painful fault – While washing my new pan for the first time a 2.5cm long very thin spike of metal went right through my little finger because the rim of the lid wasn't cut correctly and running the tea towel around it was enough to lift the spike. After many emails, and a long wait, the pan was replaced by Sunbeam and I sent the faulty one back as they requested.… Read more

I included a note and a warning so anyone opening the package didn't get hurt. It's been three months and I am still waiting for an apology for the pain and inconvenience. No matter how good the pan has been since then my experience with it and Sunbeam has been an unhappy one.

Disappointed – Loved it for 12 months, then half the element stopped working. Of course out of warranty, I would like another but worried same thing will happen. It is a great size for two, still making up my mind to try another one or not?  Show details

Really Agro – After 20 odd years of fantastic FP250E & SK012G we bought a 6450 two days ago, followed the book to a T. The season oil burnt, smoke came out the plug area, the bottoms brown, lids poor fit, temperatures crazy, insides groovy not polished, its going back. No more, Sunbeam.  Show details

Sunbeam Master Series – I had a Sunbeam Ellise Stainless Steel Skillet SK6410 for 10 years absolutely beautiful but unfortunately like all things the sealed heating element failed to work. I have replaced with another but better and improved. Sunbeam Ellise Stainless Steel Skillet SK 6450. Very highly polished stainless steel. Looks great, more heat settings, higher… Read more ·  3

domed lid and wider look through glass lid. Used a couple of times performance is just great, ideal for slow and Stir fry cooking. With the higher dome lid roasting large meat a breeze. Thank you Sunbeam for another lovely Skillet.

Average – We spent months looking for our ideal electric fry pan; not too big, with a stainless steel rather than non stick coated inside surface and now after settling on the Ellise skillet find it nothing special. The salesperson told us that the base had excellent heat coverage but we haven't found that at all. When using it for pikelets the outer… Read more

edges are pale and uncooked although fine for things like stews and poaching eggs. A little bit disappointing really Looks great, perfect size for 2 people, high rise lid for roasts & baking, stainless steel as well as non stick option Element doesn't have good all over coverage so outer edges don't cook well

Excellent – I love my skillet! I use it most nights, and it is surprising how much you can fit in this little baby! No complaints about it, my sister has one too, and loves it just as much. Great size for 1/2 person cooking, heats up quickly, good temperature control, easy to clean (although have not tested it in the dishwasher!), stainless steel surface does not scratch and peel like teflon non-stick pans. no steam vent in the lid Show 2 replies
