Disgusting – We bought a Ceramic Sunbeam Frypan a few weeks ago and it is hopeless - it loses its heat - does not cook things properly - whether is is fish, sausages or pancakes!!!!! I will never buy another Sunbeam Frypan. I will be taking this Frypan back to where I bought it.  Show details

Poor quality of sunbeam products – I purchased a Teflon coated electric frying pan 6 months ago and it lasted 5 months . I have just purchased a stainless steel frying pan and it does not work at all. I am so disappointed with sunbeam products . I will not be buying any more sunbeam products.

Extremely DIsappointed – Unfortunately this is the worst electric frying pan that I have ever purchased at the end of last year/beginning of this year. The thermostat of both the frying pan and an electric skillet that was part of the package when I purchased it turns off and rarely turns back on. It doesn't matter how long I heat the pan for before adding the… Read more

ingredients or what I want to cook the pan immediately turns off. It has been sitting in the cupboard unused as it is useless. I will be going out to buy another pan, and it definitely won't be a sunbeam.

I love my Sunbeam Family Banquet - Non Stick Electric Frypan with Lid (FP5900P) – I have had this frypan since 2013 and I really enjoy using it. I do not use the frypan every day but I use it reasonably often. I make casseroles (eg chicken with vegetables - curries etc) and I have had no problems with it. I do not use the frypan on the highest settings and I use wooden or non stick utensils (it has no scratches). Today I used… Read more

it to make quite a few rounds of bacon, egg and tomato muffins (cheaper to make my own than buy any at the takeaway stores and the family gives me five star ratings for my cooking made in this appliance) and I love using this pan for dishes such as this as I can control the heat well and the bacon does not stick or burn and the eggs cook perfectly. The frypan is also very easy to clean. I have made very nice meals with this frypan (for a large family) and have had no problems with it. I do not use it as a roasting oven but only as a frypan or for cooking things on a medium heat such as casserole type dishes, curries etc and it cooks them to perfection. I would recommend this item to a friend... it is one of my best buys and I have cooked many successful and delicious meals in it. I don't buy many non-stick items and I would say this frypan has good quality non-stick and it has not come off as I have read happens with some appliances (I do use the correct non metal utensils with it and I treat it carefully). Non-stick pans are very useful when cooking things like eggs which can stick if you are using stainless steel frypans etc.

Disappointed – Purchased this frypan 4 weeks ago. Already the number dial has fallen off which means I no longer know what temperature I am cooking at, and the logo on the top of the handle has come off as well. Cooking wise, it is not that great. It is uneven and burns easily. Pretty disappointed in this purchase.

Leaking banquet frypan – I have had this frypan for about three years but it is leaking badly at the element. It is shocking I had a regular sized Kambrook for about 15years prior to this and while the leg broke on it it at least didn't leak oil everywhere. Was going to just buy another one until reading the reviews from others

Amazing Teflon Platinum Pro not so amazing and neither is the element – I was somewhat dubious in purchasing an item whose brand name that I, my mother and my grandmother have supported so well over the years as they were 'made in Australia' and questioned the sales person about Sunbeam's quality now that manufacturing was happening in China. The sales person assured me that Sunbeam's quality would always be of high… Read more

standard as it was required to meet the Australian quality standards like it always has and when I purchased this large electric pan, I felt somewhat content that I was doing the right thing but it wasn't long before I wished that I had trusted my gut feeling.

This amazing 'Teflon Platinum Pro' started to bubble and lift. I have never gone any higher than 7 on the thermostat control and I have only ever washed it in a sink full of hot (no hotter than my hands can bare) soapy water. So the same thing happened to this pan as did the one I had previously. I was not impressed and had only had it for about 14 months, only using it mainly to roast meat, which was maybe once or twice a month, depending on the season. I have used cheaper non-stick frying pans at a higher temp with continued success!

The other problem was the heating element. It was hotter at the control end of the pan compared to the rest of the element around the pan. This means that when I am cooking a leg of mutton, one end of the leg will cook faster (and burn) than the rest of the meat, even when you turn it constantly.

I love this pan because of its size. I can cook or roast for a decent number of people in half the time than when I had my square pan but in future, I'll be looking at other brands - no matter where they are made! A good size pan to cook for a large number of people. Teflon Platinum Pro is not the answer and even cooking would be more desirable.

Leaking water around electrical element, non-stick surface bubbled off at lower termperature – Beautiful pan at the start, we absolutely loved it, and thought we had made a wise purchase. We did all the right things. We heated to level 7 every time and then reduced the temperature a little to cook. We used only silicone implements and washed it with a non-abrasive nylon cloth. But as others have mentioned, it didn’t take long for the… Read more

“Teflon Platinum Pro” to bubble and begin to stick.

Then from when it was about ten months old we started to notice drips of oil or water (depending on what we were cooking) on the benchtop. Both my wife and I independently assumed we were splashing the oil a little, and I thought the water was from condensation on the lid.

Then it got worse – and we are not messy cooks!

Then as the stick surface (it had stopped being non-stick a long time ago) required soaking after cooking, I had some water in it, but noticed the *whole* bench top was wet!

Then I looked underneath and could see the water actually dripping through the electrical element!

This must be very dangerous, so we had to stop using the pan, and went back to our 15 year old Black and Decker while we decide what to do.

We thought this was a one-off, but having read other comments we are not so sure.

Sunbeam has a good name in the market, so I don’t know what’s going on here.

And of course the warranty has expired.

But one would expect someting like an electric frypan to last more than 10 months (5 if you count from the demise of the Teflon)

Leakiing water and oil through electrical element. “Teflon Platinum Pro” bubbled and stuck after a short time, despite following instructions. Lid didn't fit too well

Sorry about the spelling in the title. it should say - Leaking around electrical element, non-stick bubbled off at lower termperature

Poor spreading of heat and bad non-stick surface – I have used 3 of these in a row intensively. Right from the start I found they all had the same problems. 1. When cooking pancakes the thermostat keeps cutting out for long periods of time. When it does cut back in it tries to burn the pancake along the line of the element. I find I have to keep adjusting the thermostat up little by little to… Read more

get it to stay on. It becomes quite the art to keep the thermostat on without burning anything.

2. The non-stick surface does not last. I use the frypan to cook for 4-5 people 4-5 nights a week. With this usage the surface starts to fail after about 12 months and has completely failed after 18. I use non-metal tools in all cases and use only a sponge to clean it in normal dishwater. Even with taking extreme care the surface still fails. This is after 3 Sunbeams in a row! And no, I do not ever burn anything to the pan.

3. Heat distribution is terrible. The pan forms a 'burn ring' in the surface following the element. This ring is where all the heat is. Also, as they get older the heat ends up being more intense near the plug end and less on the other. The middle of the pan is fairly cool which is handy if you are trying to keep something warm when it is already cooked. IE Put the items being cooked around the burn ring and the finished items in the middle to keep warm.

Overall I am very disappointed in the Sunbeam frypans of the last 5 years. My prior one lasted me about 20. Large pan. Good lid. Sturdy construction. Poor heat disbursal, poor thermostat.

Excellent – I'm very happy with my purchase and I can recommend it to anyone who has a large family or cooks larger quantities of food at one time. It comes with a 12 month warranty. I love cooking in bulk and this fry pan can accommodate this for me. It has high sides so food doesn't spill out, along with a high lid which is great for cooking roasts. In… Read more

fact, I roast most of my meals now with the fry pan rather than the oven, saving on electricity and time. The tilt lever is really handy for draining off the fat or keeping eggs from running. There is an adjustable lid holder so the lid can be kept draining over the cooking food. The adjustable steam vent allows you to control the amount of moisture while cooking. I use plastic utensils, but the teflon platinum pro non-stick surface is scratch resistant due to the triple layers. Nothing really, it's the best one I've had to date.

Excellent – I love this fry pan and use it so often for all kinds of cooking. It is sooooo easy to clean with the non-stick surface and makes cooking bacon and eggs so incredibly easy all in the one pan. Because of it's size, it is able to cook a large variety of meals but does struggle if you are only cooking for 2 as the surface area is just too large to… Read more

properly retain juices or sauces. Is so large and has a large cooking surface and high sides, also has a high lid which is great for roasts. Has a very helpful instruction booklet with tips on how to cook different types of foods. Even though it is non-stick, it says you can use metal utensils on it. Is too big for small meals to cook as they should, really only good for large meals.

Excellent – I really like this frying pan. As a family of 5 it can cook up enough food for all of us and because the heating is pretty even it's much easier to control the temperature you cook at than on the stovetop. It's super easy to clean and gets used at least 4 times a week. The only gripe I have is that my lid dinged quite easily, but it's still… Read more

usable, just not as pretty. Nice high sides.

Non stick hardy surface.

Easy to clean.

Holds plenty of food. Temperature sometimes cools down too much before the cycle kicks back in.

The manual suggested temperatures just produced charcoal for me so I cook at a lower temp than suggested.

Perfect Cooking – I regularly cook for fourteen and needed a large frying pan, I purchased a Sunbeam Family Banque 38cm x 29.5cm rectangular frypan. The vessel is 78mm deep which is great for roasts and it has a pan-tilt lever which make scooping out gravy a breeze. The non-stick surface is metal utensil safe although I still only use plastic utensils. The metal… Read more ·  3

Just doesn't last! – Although this is a great cooking appliance, we have gone through three of them in the last ten years or so. The thermostat just doesn't seem to last. So you end up with a large piece of useless metal for the sake of a thermostat cable. We use cooking paper to save the non-stick surface and to help with clean up but I wonder why I bother because… Read more

the electrics give out long before we wear out the non-stick!. I will be buying a new pan tomorrow. But, to be honest, for price and size, I will probably be buying another one.

Great size, non-stick is good as long as you don't get it too hot.

Sunbeam FP 5900P Frypan – This would be the best frypan we have ever had it heats up very fast nothing sticks to it and cleans up after use just like new. We have had this frypan about 6mths now and are still very happy with it. We find we use it more than the oven now, doing most of our roasts in it as well and we use it to do kababs in instead of starting up the BBQ… Read more

the extra large size of this frypan has been very handy when doing roasts for the family it has heaps of room for a large piece of meat and heaps of vegies. The oil drain feature is very good lowing excess oil/ fat to drain away the rubber pads on the legs stop it sliding when trying to flip things. The non stick surface is very easy to clean even after the messiest of meals. The silver and black finish looks very smart, and at only $79 it was great value. Works great, cleans great & looks great! Uses electricity! and you still have to use it!
