Unhappy user – Great design. Excellent features. Sloppy quality control. Took 3 efforts to get a working model. The first two were noisy and lifting and lowering mechanism jerky in operation. The third one lasted 14 months but during that time the led's gradually went out till finally the electrics failed altogether. An excellently styled product that I wanted… Read more

to work spoilt by poor quality control. From being a consistent purchaser I have not purchased Sunbeam products since.

Didn't work straight out of box - buy another product – Went to replace my 25 year Sunbeam toaster with this model which is similar - single slot long slice. Purchased online direct from Sunbeam website. Took out of box and it didn't work the bread did not go down when pushing down the side lever then after some time started beeping madly and the only thing to do was switch off from power point. l.… Read more

contacted Sunbeam 1300 and told to go to Bondi to return, which meant travelling by bus for 40 mins to return their faulty product. Then after that they would send me a replacement. I should have followed the other reviews advice and NOT bought the product at all. I have checked with Fair Trading and I am going to ask for a refund which I am entitled to do under NSW Consumer Law as the product does not perform what it is supposed to do. Don't give yourself a hassle: 1. Don't buy from Sunbeam online. 2. Don't buy this product at all which even though I only bought this product online on 11 July shows now as discontinued, so Sunbeam is selling discontinued products without telling purchasers. 3. If you are foolish enough like me to purchase and it doesn't work ask for a refund as you are entitled to under NSW Consumer Law. Buy another brand at a retail store. NEVER AGAIN all this for a toaster and not to mention overpriced at $139 when you can buy alot cheaper brands and they work.

Looks great as a boat anchor – Poor longevity. First one lasted 6 months. Replacement lasted 18 months. Not worth the angst of a good looking product with no staying power.

The most perfect Toaster, – This toaster is amazing, not only does it work perfectly it's a very sexy looking toaster. I have purchased many toasters over the years and have always been disappointed, until this one. Cooks everything perfectly, no matter what thickness. Leaves toast crunchie on the outside and soft in the centre. Colour is always just right and I love the alarm to let you know it's ready.

Completely useless toaster. Non-working out of box. 1300 number was no help at all, very rude – Brand new toaster, received as gift, was kept in box until we moved house. Didn't work out of box - just flashed all lights and beeped. Called Sunbeam on 1300 881 861 and they pretty much said too bad so sad it's out of warranty. Asked to speak to manager and they hang up on me.

My toaster is also on drugs :( – I purchased this toaster, brand new in the box, and when I unpacked it, I was very happy with its sleek lines and silent, smooth, mechanical operation, but sadly, from day three, the lowering/raising mechanism would jerk seriously when lowering the toast into the unit. Given it didnt do it on the first two days, I have to presume this is a… Read more

mechanical fault with the unit. The jerking is pretty much uniform, but has ruined my enjoyment of watching the bread slowly and silently being lowered into the machine, now I have a knucka knucka knucka knucka sound :(

Also, I have absolutely no idea why Sunbeam would choose to have the unit displaying lights when not in use. Is this a ploy between the manufacturers and the power companies to have us all using power all the time? Either way, its frustrating to have to turn it on/off at the wall before/after every time I use it.

Its a shame as the unit itself looks lovely, but just like a pretty girl with a bad attitude, the beauty soon pales in significance, when compared to its faults.

As the previous reviewer commented, how on earth do these things get passes QC checks? Or do they simply not get checked in the hope that whoever buys it will just go out and buy another, rather than dealing with warranty claims, and being given more faulty products in exchange?

Thanks for listening anyway. Its sleek lines, and overall appearance. Mechanical fault from day 3, and unnecessary LED lights that display 24/7 wasting power

This baby is toast – A great looking and impressive toaster when operating, unfortunately it just didn't manage to go the distance. I had mine for close two years. I was a light user cooking about two slices every couple of days. We then experienced similar problems to one of the other reviews i.e. won't load the toast, lights all on and beeping.. appears to be… Read more

shonky, unrepairable electronics. Contacted the company who were helpful but said the toaster could not be repaired :-( If you purchase one, see if you can get an extended warranty and good luck when that runs out. Looks great Poor electronics, concerns for longevity

Great toaster – I'm really happy with this toaster. It toasts both sides of the bread well, beeps when the toast is done, the single long slot easily accomodates awkward sized bread, it's really nice looking and the satin finish doesn't show fingermarks plus the outside doesn't get hot. All in all, I would recommend it. Makes great toast and looks very smart too

Looks great. Doesn't work – I liked the look of this in the shop and bought it without hesitation. I didn't work. It flashed and beeped and nothing else happened. I took it back and got them to test another one before I bought it. It was OK for three or four weeks, then I got the flashing lights and beeping. Now I have taken the second one back, and I've got a Sunbeam… Read more

Quantum Thick and Thin as a replacement. The Quantum is simpler in operation, and there should be less to go wrong. Sleek design. Slim. Single slot holding more than one slice. It just flashes and beeps and does nothing else.

Well designed, but poorly made – My expectations for this toaster were high given the sleek design and high price. It worked very well for the first week. The toasting was very even, and the controls are well designed. Then one morning it decided that in future it would only toast crumpets: the crumpet light came on and no matter how many times I press the crumpet button it won't… Read more

go off. From the other reviews of this product, I should just get a refund, and buy a different model. Shame on you Sunbeam! Looks good, minimalist controls, wide slot, even toasting. Bad electronics

Great looks, poor electronics – I've now had 2 of these toasters and had to return them both. For the first toaster, one of the browning indicator lights stopped working after toasting the first slice of toast. At least the toaster did toast the first slice! With the second toaster, on pressing the toast lever for the very first slice of toast, the mechanism smoothly lowered the… Read more

bread into the toaster - and then promptly raised it without even starting the toaster elements. It did this 3 times and then stayed lowered, lit up all the lights on the controls and beeped!! So, back to the retailer with that toaster as well and this time for a refund.

It's a great shame that a very sleek and attractive looking toaster with useful functions should be let down by poor electronics. I'll now be sticking with simpler toasters without all the fancy electronics. Attractive looks, slim form, single slot for even browning Poor electronics

Annoying – Second toaster returned to store with same fault. All lights flashing ,beeping and unable to do anything...no explanation in the manual. Wide opening, slim line and looks great. Expensive and poor electronics

My toaster is on drugs – What s dissappointment it is when your new great looking slimline toaster is on drugs. How hard is it to toast something? or make a machine that toasts bread? Very difficult according to Sunbeam. Lights that are meant to light dont light, lights that aren't meant to light do light, some lights never go out reguardless of what the toaster is… Read more

actually trying to accomplish. Sometimes it lowers the toasst but doesnt bring it up again and screams at me. This is my second one of these, the first had similar problems. The second one had worked faultlessly for......two days, alas my winning streak ended this afternoon. First one replaced under warranty. Don't think i will try for a third, shame, coz it looks great.

How does something this simple with so many obvious problems get through any sort of quality assurance program. Looks Great The electronics are unbelievably bad

Great looking and good working product – We just love the look of this toaster. Its nice and slimline and black which means it blends in but also kind of makes a statement by being different. We love the brushed metal finish because it never gets marks on it. Its functions also work very well and are perfect for frozen bread and crumpets. Slimline, brushed metal finish, black

Disappointing – Only had it for 3 days and electronics failed. All lights flashing and cancel lever not responding. Had to pull the plug off to turn off. Tried it second time and encountered same problem. This is obviously a technical and electronics malfunction. Will get a refund and buy something simpler and less expensive. Very disappointed with the quality control . Slimline design looks great. Pricey with unreliable electronics .
