Sunbeam Rice Perfect 10 RC4700

Not fit for purpose – Spits water and steam all over the bench and floor. Do NOT waste your money. The replies from Sunbeam that the rice is not washed properly is simply rubbish. How do I get my money back for this useless product? No more Sunbeam anything for me ever again! Show details
Set and forget – I'm not sure why others have had problems... We have never had a problem with it, and we've cooked at all serving size capacities. It gets used at least once a week. It can brown the bottom if you don't fluff the rice after it's finished cooking and on warming, but we turn it off soon after anyway. Set and forget Teflon coating in bowl not healthy
Another Sunbeam failure – Worst appliance I have ever bought. Makes a mess everywhere by spitting water out the sides of the lid when cooking, rarely cooks the rice properly, and the bottom third is burnt and inedible, meaning lots of waste. Yet anothe Sunbeam product that is disappointing and a waste of money. I do not recommend. Looks nice. Inefficient, messy, doesn't even cook rice properly.
Terrible – I thought it was a nice rice cooker at first but given its poor performance and that it didn't last me long I'd rather just get a cheap one next time. I like the glass lid and it looks nice. I like the size of it. Mine only worked a couple of times. It generally burnt the rice to the bottom and did not automatically switch to the warm setting.… Read more
After only a few uses it stopped working altogether. I spoke to the manufacturer who said the parts can wear out even if it's not in use.
OK – When I was first given this rice cooker by my sister who loved hers I was not sure how useful it would be. However, I have now been using my rice cooker for about 2 years now and I am converted. I love that once all the measurements are done you can just turn it on and leave it be while the rest of the meal is prepared. It cooks the rice quicker… Read more
and most of the time makes really nice rice. I'll have to admit I was never great at cooking rice the traditional way, so if it doesn't come out perfectly then it doesn't worry me too much. Easy to use and makes great rice without the fuss. Is a bit hit and miss with the way the rice cooks. Sometimes the rice gets brown on the bottom. This doesn't happen all the time so I'm not exactly sure why. On the flip side sometimes I do need to add extra water and press the 'cook' button again because its not quite cooked. The minimum amount of rice you can cook is 2 cups which more often than not is too much for us in one sitting. As with most rice cookers I'm sure, it takes up lots of space in the cupboard when not in use.
Bad – We are not impressed with this rice cooker. Previously we had a super cheap one, and now I wish we still had it. I've been using this one for about 3 years and it still annoys me. Perhaps it's only meant for when you want to make huge batches. Either way, we wont be buying this one next time. It cooks rice, reasonably well. The measuring system is… Read more
difficult compared to other rice cookers I've had - I prefer the water to rice ratio system to the level marker one. It is also designed for no less than 2 cups of rice, which isnt great. The rice is invariably overcooked on the base no matter what i try. It makes a big spluttery mess.
Excellent – We add a tiny little bit more water so that it doesn't dry on the bottom while warming, so simple and a great product !!! Easy, simple ..... and it works !!!! Nothing at all.
Good – Seems to work as advertised. It does pay to give the rice a bit of a stir after the cooking phase is over to avoid it forming clumps but this is a small price to pay for the convienience & speed. Steaming accessories look like worthwhile items although they have not been tested in anger yet. Spits a little water out from under the lid but this is… Read more
no big deal. Rice on the bottom can dry out a bit if it is left on "Keep Warm" for too long. We will be eating more rice in the future. It's big, fast and not too ugly! Nothing yet (only in use for one week as yet).
