Not sure of the model because I sent it back – Bought the 2019 model in May this year. It died on 12th Sept. so just over 4 months. It has a 3yr warranty. Filled out a request on the Sunbeam account page as I am registered but have had no response. I then tried Myer where I bought it from and they have agreed to refund the price on receipt of the item. Unfortunately they couldn’t replace it as… Read more
they have none in stock. The remote is at fault I believe. This is the 2nd Sunbeam throw to have died in less than 6 months so not impressed.
Dont waste your money – Two identical units were purchased. One was used continually and one was tested and put on the shelf. After three weeks both units were faulty and would no longer heat. Myer returns and refunds policy for the Sunbeam Heated Throw is "throw-away". My take-home message: Don't waste your money buying the Sunbeam Heated Throw, and don't expect Myer to provide decent customer service. Show details
waste of money – This was awful and i could feel the wires through the blanket. It was thin and didnt feel safe. I would have liked it to be a lot thicker, more ike a heavy mink blanket which is what i was expecting. Show details

What more does a girl need? – I have used and owned this single heated throw for 3 years. OMG it is blissfully warm, fully washable and economical to run. I use it all year round simply detaching the cord as it gets warmer. I have wash it in my front loader machine several times a year. Like others, I purchased it for warmth and to save on heating - and being… Read more · 2
extremely cold sensitive I think this blanket is one of the best $60 investments I have ever made. I combine it with an electric foot warmer (the heated ugh boot thingy) and do not turn on my heater at all unless it gets below 10C. By heating myself and not the entire room, I have saved loads off my electricity bill and I am not miserably cold!
I wouldn't recommend the double sized one which I bought for a friend as it is too bulky to be classified as a 'throw' plus you need a big washing machine. My single throw is big enough for two average sized people. I would highly recommend this for seniors or anyone who feels the cold in the legs. The only improvement I can think of is to add an auto shut off (like the foot warmer) as I have left mine on low overnight a few times.
On the ninth cloud – I have had this for a week. I purchased it to save on my electricity bills and to use it in the evenings when I lie down on my couch as the heaters in my apartment are not good. I got it in grey colour, a neutral colour that goes always well with any decoration. The throw takes little to warm up if you start from level 7 or 8 and leave it for… Read more
about 5-10 minutes. Then, I decrease the temperature to 5 and leave it there for about 15-20 minutes, and then I set it on 3 and leave it there for a longer period. Depending on the day, I switch it off earlier or later, but, to my surprise the warmth keeps there as if the throw was still on for a long time.
I love this product. It only consumes 150 watts, heats quickly and the warmth you get is steady and comfortable heat, never too much or too little. You can adjust it to your personal needs, so perfect
Mind, if you just put the throw around your legs and belly you won't be able to enjoy the marvellous feeling that I experience when I lie down on my couch and cover myself with it. Oh, my gosh, a eating-chocolate-sort-of feeling.
The throw could fall short if you are big person or just tall. It is perfect for my size.
I got it discounted from Harvey Norman, and I am extremely pleased with the product. So far, so excellent.
Perfect for those cool Sydney nights. Not needed as much in Tasmania ;) – I bought this for the couple of months a year where it gets chilly overnight in Sydney to overcome the need to put the heating on. I also used to sit on it when working in my home office, again so I didn't have to run a 2kWh heater. Unfailingly kept me toasty warm, overheating me on the warmest setting. Quick to warm up and cheap to run,… Read more
what's not to like?
I haven't needed to wash it, but know that I could if I needed to.
Surprisingly, I hardly needed it since moving to Tasmania thanks to a better insulated, draft free home.
I have pulled it out for those late nights in the office on the odd occasion, and I'm please that it's coped well with being folded and stored.
There are cheaper versions around, but I haven't tried them. Happy with a familiar brand name with a reasonable reputation for quality.
I'd recommend that you buy more than one. You don't want a repeat of the squabbling we had over who got to sit on the one I bought ;)

Perfect for a gamer with freezing hands! – I play games that utilizes very quick reactions and this throw keeps my blood and nerves working by keeping me warm on my chair while gaming! The throw I got was a little too big for me but I can't complain, it does what it does and then some. :) Show reply
Very nice bit of luxury – My only issue with this is that once I have it on, I'm stuck, because it's just too hold to move away from it! I'd like this to be bigger, so I can wrap up completely. Very luxurious, comfortable item. Also great on sore knees or a sore back - even though it's not intended as heat therapy. Show reply
this is perfect – I can't live without it. Please where can I get a new one? As I need it for my arthritic legs. As this is the best relief I get from the pain. Show reply
Negative reviews
Can feel the wires – The fabric is pretty thin so it tends to heat up only along the wires, which you can feel very easily. They tend to heat up too hot even on the lowest temp and if you were to fall asleep I could see how it could burn you. I wouldn't recommend this to others Show details
doesnt warm up much – I had one of these for years and it was awesome. The new one i got last winter is not great. It doesnt warm up very much even on high. Cant take it back as cant find reciept. Think it must have been faulty. Not happy with tnis purchase
Fleece Heated Throw control melted! – I purchased for my Grandfather - he had it less than 30 days and the temperature control remote melted! He could have been badly burned! The remote type is a M85...Sunbeam will send replacement with a different remote (throw has 5 year warranty). Sunbeam would not let on how many calls they have received for this problem - made it sound as if this… Read more
was the first! I will be writing to their consumer affairs office for more information - from other reviews here and elsewhere - sounds like a class action lawsuit is in order! Next letter goes to consumer reports and federal agency for recall information. I am hoping the alternate remote will function properly. Sunbeam claims they only have 2 different remote styles for their heated throws! Sunbeam needs to find a new manufacturer (preferably from USA) for the heated control remote!

I love it! – I love it. I turn it down to 5 and have it over my legs as I watch TV. Then I have it on top of the bed cover on about 6 on these cold nights. I sing its praises to all my friends. Show reply

Very cosy and comforting in the cold – I originally bought one for an elderly relative but found the warmth so comforting that I bought several for members of our household. Great when sitting reading, working or watching TV. When there is only one person in the room, we have found it reduces our tendency to put heating on and thus reduces power bills. I prefer the model with the… Read more
faux fur as it gets less static - no idea why . It takes a few minutes to warm but once it does we have generally found low settings in Sydney winter are enough to keep us cosy.
Adored the first one so much just bought another (cats pinched the first one!!) – Most wonderful invention for winter! Bought first one a couple of years ago but the cats now have it (as from last night) and I bought another this morning .... now have it on as I type this ..... can't live without "Blankie" ... sister-in-law in Sydney feels the same .... aah the wonders of winter with one of these to snuggle into .... love love… Read more
love .... and no trouble with either but I've only just this morning got "Blankie no.2" Wish they came a bit bigger though.
Wonderful product! – This was given to me as a present and has brought me through a NZ winter saving me Heaps on power. Instead of heaters which consume so much electricity I can watch TV or work at my computer with the rug around me and am cosily warm. I just love it.
Comfort on cooler nights – I've had my heated throw rug for a few years now and really enjoy using it. I don't trust actual electric blankets on a bed so I find this a more suitable option for me. It doesn't head up quite as much as I would like, but I think that has to do with the placement of the heating elements in the blanket. As for cleaning, it specifies you can wash it but that just seems risky to me so I just try to keep it clean.
2 of these have failed – My wife bought 2 of these, one for us and one for son as a present. Ours failed after about 6 months, by ceasing to warm up properly. It had only been used several times. We got it replaced under warranty from the retailer. Now my son's has completely failed after just 2 weeks use. (He had not used it until this winter). On his, the light on… Read more
the control does not come on when switched on, and it does not heat at all. We will now have to get a replacement under warranty for this one too.
Blankets were both used as instructed, and never used on beds, and not even washed.
Seems like many other people have had similar problems, suggesting an inherent problem with some of these blankets in manufacturing. Nice when it works. You do get a 3 year warranty. Should not fail after so little use.
Great way to stay warm for winter – Bought this on sale from Harvey Normans for $69.95. After reading others reviews I knew what to expect and it has met my needs. Size 1.6 x1.2m which makes it suitable for one or maybe two people. A size option would have been nice. Warms up quick. Very cheap to run. Nice microfleece fabric. Washable. 9 heat setting with a long lead. 3 year… Read more
guarantee. Many safety features. Some complain it isn't warm enough but I think its plenty warm. Can't go wrong with one of these.
Update 5\5\14: purchased an aldi heated throw for $30 and much prefer it. Read my review on the lumina heated throw. Just wish I knew aldi were going to have them on sale a week after purchasing the sunbeam. Energy efficient, 3 year warranty Sunbeam should consider size option, aldi`s is much better and cheaper too
Best throw ever – I bought two of these throws for Tassie winters and have put them on our bed. The trouble is we got too hot even on the lowest setting!! I love them and would get more if necessary. Wish they were a bit bigger though, they are the average throw size Great warmth None but it could be bigger
Love it! – Wish I thought of buying one of these earlier, I feel the cold especially when just sitting around watching tv. It heats up very quickly, so I lay it on the couch while I organize myself then I have a nice warm seat before I even start. :) It's also great to use as a rug (warm) on the bed for an afternoon nap! Quick to heat up. I like the 9… Read more
setting, rather than just 1,2 or 3. Nothing in particular, but would like it to be just a bit bigger so I can share it comfortably with my husband...He's taller than me.
A must! – I absolutely could not live without my Sunbeam Heated Throw! It is seriously the best thing ever. I use it every evening in winter, as I really feel the cold! I bought one for my mum, my aunty and my grandmother and they love them too! I've had mine for 2 years now, and washed it a couple of times with no problem. Everything! Warm, toasty and snuggly! Sometimes I can't use it because my dogs are laying on it to keep warm! Show reply

Non-heated Heated Throw – I bought 2 of these throws in chocolate brown. We have really given it a good go for the past year, but BOTH have never heated up. So I honestly doubt it was just a dud one. Well, for $89 each, I really could have just bought a throw with no heating purpose if that was really what I was after. Extremely disappointing. Throw was decent sized. Absolutely useless. Stone cold even at highest setting.
Hi MK could you please contact our Customer Care Team on 1300 881 861 to discuss further.
Bad – My first one is two years old and I have had two replacement controls, at least on contacting Sunbeam direct they sent replacements very quickly. My two old controls went again and as very cold,I got out my spare (used twice) it work for one day only, (control not working ???) I called Sunbeam and got an obnoxious young man who told me form the… Read more
details I supplied from my 2009 model (on part control attaches to) that my throw was 4 yrs old so out of warranty(so who's fault was this, mine, the retailer's or Sunbeam's, I had no I had no idea they had been out that long. I was stunned by the difference in customer service, from previous contact re CONTROL BREAKDOWN, is this because there are SOOOOO many unhappy customers calling with the same problem. I now have 2 very expensive fluffy blanket's.My sons two new 3 week old throw's have also got control problems, so we are now about to hear what excuse CUSTOMER SERVICE GIVES THIS TIME. LIFT YOUR GAME SUNBEAM, this product is flawed and your customer service has/will also add to your flagging reputation. I have had many Sunbeam products and always sworn by them, and even with the control problems with my 1st Throw, the GOOD customer service kept me coming back, BUT NEVER AGAIN.....(name censored) Great when working, in fact ideal. I have two (one purchased in 2008 and one for over night guests purchased 2009, used twice) and purchased 1 for my elderly mother & recommended my son & daughter-in-law purchase one each, which they did 3 weeks ago. We all live in the Sassafras, Dandenong Ranges Vic so quite cold. Very expensive, when the controls are faulty, I have had 4 controls give up, and now my sons two purchased 3 weeks ago have both got control problems, it starts with a flickering light, then they just die.
Sunbeam No response a bit like their faulty kettles ...... Could it be that Sunbeam sell faulty goods to customers and don't care?
Control Melted – I used the throw for short periods of time while watching tv. One evening I noticed the wire was extremely hot, so I checked the control which was also very hot (to the point that I could not touch it with my bare hands!) and the control Power button was melted. Please be very careful when using this product, had I not been home or it was left on… Read more
for a longer period of time it could have been very dangerous. I would like to add that I have only had this product for 1 week and used it only 4 or 5 times.
Terrible – Both retailers revealed that quite a few of these throws had been returned. Even though a refund of purchase price was obtained, there was no compensation for the inconvenience. I suffer from Reynauds disease (a severe circulation disorder) and the cold is debilitating. The heated throw is such a great idea but it seems that Sunbeam should recall… Read more
the current batch. When they sort out the manufacture fault, I will buy another. It's a wonderful idea and when working, was lovely and warm. The product has a 3 year warranty and I had no difficulty returning them and receiving a full refund. Unfortunately, I have now bought and returned 3 of these throws from 2 different retailers. I have carefully followed all directions but each throw has just stopped working after about 2 to 4 weeks. It has no "reset" option so there was nothing I could do when each one died, but return it to the place of purchase.
Isn't machine washable safe, and heats up too much!! – I bought this thinking it looked nice and was lightweight. I noticed on the care label that it is deemed machine washable, so I queried this with the salesperson, who confirmed it can be washed in a washing machine, however, even though I washed on a cold gentle setting, the wiring inside the blanket became dislodged. It worried me as I thought… Read more
this had damaged the electrical wire and may cause a fire, so I ceased using it. I wasn't happy that it was as durable as I was led to believe.
Also, this blanket is a very impractical size, it is quite small and doesn't cover a bed to fit a tall person.
The control mechanism is in an awkward position, I don't know why it was placed in that section of the blanket?
When in use, the wire and control becomes very hot to touch, this poses a fire risk.
I do not recommend this product. Kept me warm Too small even for a short person, didn't cover the bed

Toasty Warm – Had mine for about 6 years now, have been kept toasty warm every cold winters night since then. No problems at all, except that it cannot carry me to bed after using it on the lounge in front of tv. Having this great throw has made a huge difference to my heating bills as we don't need the reverse cycle air con. at night. It has been such a cuddly… Read more
experience for me, My two little dogs who share a bed now want one too. Then they would not have to sneak under mine. This was the best amount of money ever spent to stay cosy all winter long. Thank you Sunbeam. affordable, cosy, smart looking
Excellent – This is so revolutionary, compared to the old electric blankets for the bed only, this heated portable blanket is safe and easy to use. It is soft and wraps around your body to keep you warm while watching TV. If you are not well, and lay on the couch to watch tele, it is so comforting, the heat is variable on the controller, and you can adjust it… Read more
to suit the temperature you require. It folds up easily and safely to be stored away in the cupboard when not in use in the hotter months of summer. I recommend this product. And will definitely be buying another one so we have two, instead of competing for that one! Fantastic to keep you warm on cold winter nights. I only bought one of, so we all compete for it!
Good – Lovely soft and snug microfleece material and great for snuggling up on the couch on those chilly nights in front of the TV. Don't use it often but have found it really handy for guests, just adds that extra bit of warmth. Can be washed in the washing machine and you can just use as a blanket without the cord. Fortunately have not had any of the… Read more
issues that other people have reported so have found to be a good purchase. Nice cosy material Could be a little bit bigger
Terrible – Not impressed with the product and would never recommend to anyone. It's all very well having a 3 year warranty, which offers a replacement, but who would want a replacement after my house nearly caught on fire? Only had my throw for a very short time. It managed to set my bed on fire ruining an expensive quilt, sheets, underblanket and fleece underblanket, it also singed my mattress!
I don't think you are meant to use it on your bed? That is what a bed electric blanket is for?
Excellent – It would be better if it was in the poncho/cosy format with arms etc so it would heat the top half of the person as well as the bottom half. Not reliable enough, it failed after one winter and just a couple of weeks of this winter, with the throw itself open circuit, no resistance with a multimeter. Target was very happy to refund and I saved… Read more
$10 on the new one that replaced
it, with a new 3 year warranty with the new purchase.
Just make sure you keep the receipt, because like with all Sunbeam electric blankets and close, they arent that reliable.
Excellent 3 year replacement warranty tho, so its just a minor nuisance, one cold morning until Target opened.
The control light in the original was very flickery too, tho it
continued to work until the throw itself failed. Much cheaper way to keep a single person warm than a fan heater Not reliable enough.
Doesnt heat the top half of the person as well as the bottom half.
Bad – Not sure if my heated throw has ever worked properly I redeemed it as part of a rewards program. It doesn't seem to get warm enough and therfore seems to be a waste of electricity Soft & Cuddly It doesn't get hot enough
Excellent – We got our one of these a year ago and it has been regularly used. the range of heat levels keep you toasty and they can be used anywhere where you have a powerpoint. It is compact and not that expensive to buy. I truly think this is a brilliant idea and would be good for elderly care homes as well due to the ease of use. They are a durable… Read more
blanket and take about 10 minutes to heat. Buy one, enjoy it and argue over it and you will go back for more. really good to stay warm on chilly nights.
Excellent – The best anniverary present I have ever recieved. When it is too old, I will be out straight away to purchase another! I can curl up and stay warm and toasty all winter long. The kids love love it so much aswell. I will soon have to buy 2 extra bacause my 2 girls have screaming matches over who is going to use it next!!!
