Swann DIY Doorbell Video Intercom SW-D-DDVIW

Very poor – Also had problems with the video and alarm coming on randomly and you cannot turn it off or to silent! After 4 hours of constant noise from the unit, I took a risk and disconnected the wiring on the back. Just out of warranty of course! I emailed Swann and was called from the US, who were unable to help. Spoke to a second person in the US the next day and again could not help as it was out of warranty.They could not direct me to a repair person and gave no options as to how to get it fixed. Very unhappy with the service.

Can't say that I would ever use a Swann product again with poor after sales service and faulty equipment.

video door intercom – I purchased a video door intercom about 9 mths ago. The intruder alarm goes off randomly on its own at all times day and night. When I called them they told me as the business I purchased it from had closed I had to mail it back to them in Melbourne. I did this 3 weeks ago and have had no reply. I have spoken to their 1300# and was told to ring a Melbourne#. I have left 2 phone messages and an email and still no reply. I have checked postal tracking and they received it over 2 weeks ago. I will have to buy another one as we currently have no door bell but it won't be Swann

No doorbell volume control and suffers from static interference – I purchased one of these from Dick Smith several years ago. The idea of viewing who is at the front door before I answered it really appealed to me. I found this video intercom great dealing with pesky salesmen. The picture was clear and the sound was good. The transformer that runs this product is bulky. I installed a power point in the roof and ran the transformers power cord between my houses brick cavity to hide it.

I also cut out the bricks with an Arbortech mortar saw so I could flush mount the outside intercom panel to the wall beside my front door.

There were a few things that I disliked about this product. I found the doorbell too loud and it had no volume control. I also found that when I had my mobile phone was within two meters of the intercom it created interference. This caused it to make static buzzing noise. Every time my mobile phone received a message I knew the message was on its way because of the sound of the static interference created through my intercom. This problem was not so apparent when I upgraded to an iPhone.

I have recently noticed that my intercom outside microphone has stopped working. The visitor can hear me but I can not hear them. I am currently looking for a replacement but I will not buy another Swann intercom. Great for dealing with pesky salesmen Suffers from static interference, no volume control on doorbell

Excellent – Other gadgets of this kind would be hard to set up, and would come with a lot of cables difficult to decipher. But this set is different because it's a tidy set that's so easy to set up. Best of all, it works very well. I'm glad I bought a Swann. No frills minimalist design
