Good PVR – The Topfield TRF-2460 Masterpiece HD Plus has sever me well. I love that I can hook it up to my home network via wifi. Also able to download recorded programs to any of my computers over the network. The ICE TV service which came with it is good, but you have to set the record preferences to start recording a few minutes before the time as TV… Read more

stations never stick to advertised times. Large HHD, good price, able to setup on home network Wifi drops out randomly.

GOOD...but only just – This is a good piece of kit. I almost marked it as 2 or 3 stars, but realistically, the only real flaw, though its a doosie, is its willingness to want to reset somewhat frequently. We can go for weeks without issue, but then other times , like the other night, it reset itself 5 times in a few hours (unusual, would only do it once most times). … Read more

Given that other PVR's we have had, had similar issues, though not as frequent, giving 2 or 3 stars would have been unduly harsh, but definitely precludes it from getting 5

It is very well functioned, though some more advanced functions are a little cumbersome or not so well thought out, at least the functions are there.

Recording 4 programs (you know the restrictions) works great, and can still watch another pre-recorded program, a current program from either of the two streams being recorded or one of the recordings that are in progress. Also Time shifting will still work while your watching live TV and recording 4 shows.

This had the potential to be a totally awesome machine, and on paper you would say it is, unfortunately it doesn't translate in reality.

Thank goodness for the internet and catch-up TV. Now if they could incorporate that directly into the box... 4 show recording, abundance of features, universal remote (somewhat), connectivity Recordings sometimes fail, and it restarts toooo frequently (more than others I've had)

4 in a year Masterpiece 2460 – I have had four machines in a one year period all with hard drive problems. Harvey Norman Moss Vale have been great. Topfield service is well can I say rubbish? I have the first Topfield ever made over ten years old and has never missed a beat. The latest to my mind is a problem riddled piece of rubbish. The latests replacement machine is just… Read more

over two weeks old and the drive has failed again. I was told by a sales person that the Korean maker really don't care about Australia as it is such a small market, true or not I don't know but I will never buy one again, nor will I ever recommend then to others.

And one last item, when you change the daylight saving time and you have ice TV there are 23 steps you need to follow to achieve that result. Ice have apparently approached Topfield Korea with a simple firmware upgrade and have never had a reply from them. If it worked correctly all the time as it should it would be the best around. Disk failures on four machines, poor firmware updates, poor Tech support, reboots, shutdowns

Masterpiece Not. Decent Kit, Yes – The 2460 is light years better than the Toppy 7100HDpvrt in most regards, but retrograde in others. The ftp server does not make the external disk visible, and one cannot default to the external disk, but have to go through selections to get to it each and every time. The youtube interface is not impressive. There are some reports of random… Read more

spontaneous reboots, of which we experienced only one in 3 weeks. Setting recordings via the EPG ill result in missed endings because it appears the padding is not applied to EPG settings, only individual programmed recordings.

The 1 TB internal disk is adequate for even the tellie crazed. One cannot copy a list of recordings to or from the external disk, but they must be done one at a time.

There are some "TAP" (topfield applications) one can download via the forum that add features (that should have been there from Topfield!), which is unique. There are adequate instructions for a programmer to write their own.

The internet connection was not hard to set up and works well.

It is a bit dear compared to the 2400 or most other models out there.

Most PVRs have some issues, so you pick your features and live with what you buy. We are happy with the 2460, but not overly so because of the nits. On balance, a god product. Looks good. 1 TB HDD. Easy menus. TAP Applications. Pricey. Curious omission of some functionality in other/earlier Toppys

Expensive but good if you know how to use some TAPs – Good clear pictures. Good reception. Complicated operation at times. Some firmware gliches that erased all my recordings once - not happy jan. Also random reboots due to the latest firmwares very annoying, although can be fixed. Best thing about it is the 4 tuners available. 4 tuners Glichy firmware updates, lost recordings and random reboots.

Very Flaky but great when it works – Had it for almost a year now. It randomly reboots, had it happen 3 times in 2 min last night. One reboot a few months ago resulted in 1TB of recordings lost as it wiped the HDD. Everytime it reboots any recordings are stopped and have to be restarted. It also misses recordings from time to time. Randomly the picture drops out and displays… Read more

"No Signal"

Don't get me wrong, when it works this thing is great - records 4 x stations across two streams/channels - no-one else does this. The TAPs facility is fantastic, you can really go to town customising this unit's functionality.

Despite the above I am ready to chuck it, a PVR needs to work properly. This does not.

If you accept its shortcomings its great.

Do not buy if you are not willing to accept its faults

Remote is clunky, needs fresh batteries all the time, buttons can stick and make the unit seem unresponsive. 4 recordings at once, TAPs give a huge improvement Unreliable, poor Topfield customer support. This rebooting issue (see below) has been known for a couple of years and still no fix from Topfield.

It does what I wanted it to do. and has done since a year ago. Not dissapointed – I have the 1TB model. It does the recordings as it should. Doesn't really skip a beat. My one isn't as glitchy as others that have reviewed it however the front screen sometimes shows jumbled up. This could be replaced under warranty. Little bit on the slow side to load up the recordings when the hard is more than half full, might be expected. Does what I want, records 4 channels. Glitchy screen display

Beautiful hardware, made unusable by terrible software – I owned an older Topfield before upgrading to the TRF 2460 Masterpiece HD, and I just love Topfields, but that said you need to avoid this machine like the plague. The problem with it is the software just doesn't work (check out the topfield forums if you don't believe me)and it fails at its most basic function recording ... At least once a… Read more

week, I will lose half a show because it has started to record another show and just crashes and resets itself.

The integration with IceTV (the reason I upgraded) is also very poor, with shows often not being sent through and I find I have to check my IceTV on a daily basis to check that the shows are set to record which kind of defeats the purpose.

All around, for a premium product, I'm just really disappointed and Topfield and IceTV (both of whom know of these issues) should be embarrased to be selling them. beautiful hardware, lovely menu system, ad-skip the software (up to march 2011) is buggy and just doesn't work, you tube interface is a joke.

Did my head in!!! – I bought this damn machine less than a year ago. It has been a struggle to work it. The remote is so hard to get to work in that you have to point it and press hard! When using the guide it will just suddenly jump to 12hrs to 24hrs beforehand (stupid!). Then we went on holidays and come home to find it telling us that there's no signal. So ok, the… Read more

brand new HDMI cable must be stuffed, so I pinched the video recorders cables (the red, white and yellow thing) and plugged this in and all was well. Then one night, I decided to check the guide and then suddenly guess what comes back, no f@#n signal again. I just lost it and bashed the hell out of it. It was under warranty but I could not help it, I just beat the [censored word removed] out of it. Don't waste your money, its like driving a friekin tank when its working. Compared to the foxtel machine we have (which essentially is a PVR), the topfied machine is a relic!! Man!!!!! Bash!!! Bash!!! Bin!!! there goes $700!! Bashing it!! slow, non responsive and flawed

Worst piece of audio visual equipment I have ever purchased – Do not consider Topfield if you (a) want to actually watch programs you have recorded (after setting a recording and then checking channel, date, times etc it will record something 6 hours earlier) (b) like to browse the guide (you cant! It brings up the guide from 3 days earlier randomly as you scroll through!) (c) Actually points a & b are the… Read more

only reasons to buy a PVR so there's no further discussion required.

Do buy this product if you want to (a) miss your most important and valued programs (b) love retro equipment (the remote looks, feels and works like a remote I had for my first Beta Video recorder) (c) end up in a mental asylum

A more enoyable alternative to buying this product would be to go to the bank withdraw $800 then proceed directly to the nearest toilet and flush it all! Picture quality.......but it wasn't the pictures I wanted to see!!!!!! Absolutely everything (except the picture quality)

Good – Love it. I used to program 3 twin tuner pvrs every week (took a Sunday afternoon)and now with this machine and iceTV its done in 10 minutes just to check for any new additional programs I might like to record or delete others I no longer wish to record. This thing is like TIVO on steroids !! exellent... 1. Records 4 channels at once (2+2 related… Read more

channels that is. eg 7+72 and 9+90)

2. runs iceTV wirelessly (to your wireless modem) so is programable via the internet simply by program name and whether you want it to record repeats or not. It does the rest every week for you including starting a minute early and continues recording an extra 20min beyond the scheduled stop time so you get the ends of your recorded favourite programs. Mine schedules in about 20 programs a week and all I have to do is find enough time to watch them which brings me onto the next two good things I like,

3. The manual skip button - one press during playback and it instantly skips forward 30 seconds good for parts you prefer not to see - like some advertising for example !! (the only button that can get time back for you at a rate of about 20min per hour !!

4. A 1TB internal HDD plus optional 1TB external USB HDD just in case the internal 1TB HDD 200 hour capacity is getting full. 1. Program clashes are not recognisable at least on ice TV generated programming and sometimes the extra 20min record time is cut off thus losing the ends of some programs
