1 Chris  · Disgusting reduction in size – Other posts sum it up. Change of size leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Not too late to reverse a bad decision.
1 Rick  · poor product – Since change of your shredded wheat to smaller pieces you can keep them now changing my ideas for breakfast goodbye uncle tobys
1 Uncle T i am sad  · parasitic worms – taste and looks like actually an actual colony of baby tape worms. also is the wheat version of dry ramen. bad. just bad.
1 kb3500  · What have they done? – Garbage taste now and I am sure it is a smaller packaging. No more shredded wheat for me after 60 years.

This is now made in the UK. We can't make it in Australia for some unknown reason. The taste is off from the Aussie version. It tasted like dirt. The original Aussie version tasted malty and fresh. This one tasted old and stale. And the price is outrageous. Show details

HALF FOR DOUBLE $$$'s – Wow, what happened, half the size, half the crunch, half the flavour, for double the price? What a disgrace of the once best cereals in the market. Show details

Recipe Change – This was a staple in our home since 1970. My father's favourite. He passed 2 years ago and recently I spotted Shredded Wheat in supermarket ..hit by a wave of nostalgia I bought. Wish I hadn't. Smaller pillows, funny back taste and nothing like the original ... bland is being polite. Don't mess with recipes that don't need fixing Show details

Love Shredded Wheat – Haven’t tried the product for a while (waiting to get back home after 2 years in UK) but hope the Shredded Wheat people are talking about in these reviews is the same as the UK product (Nestle). UK version is toasted more than the Canadian giving it a much better taste.

Great Healthy Cereal - comes with benefits! – Being an active person I sought a healthy cereal/snack and find Shredded Wheat meets my needs. I know they changed the product but stick with it, I did. There aren't that many healthy equivalents out there. Show details

Not as good as before but still good – Why is it that a good breakfast which is just wheat and no sugar has to be expensive. Just 270 grams for 5 bucks you feel like you are paying for air. Would buy Mini wheats but they add sugar. It seems they market them for kids. Why not let people add their own sugar. I concur that Shredded Wheat is a bit different to before but it still hits the spot. Show details

Healthy, but way too expensive – One of the very few cereals on the shelves with decent levels of protein and fibre and low levels of sat fat, sugar and sodium. But at more than $2.00 / 100g it's also one of the most expensive!! By comparison Woolworth wheat biscuits are 0.30c, Weetbix is 0.50c, Sultana Bran $1.00, Special K $1.2, fancy granola muesli with clusters, fruits and… Read more

nuts are $1.50/100g. In what universe can plain old shredded wheat possibly cost $2.00 per 100g??? More than some of the most expensive breakfast cereals! Talk about a rip off!! Do they think consumers are stupid? I love them, but won't be buying again until it's less than $2.00 per box.

Bring back the old product – Taste (well...there IS none) of the current Shredded Wheat pales in comparison to what it used to be. Shame. I cannot eat it now without adding other things to give it taste. Why change it? Show details

May as well eat cardboard! – I have been a Shredded Wheat man since 1950 when I first came across this healthy and tasty cereal - used to be called Welgar Shredded Wheat from Welwyn Garden City! It remained the same until some time in the mid '80s when the UK recipe changed. The biscuits were smaller, more compacted, a greyish colour and tasted like recycled cardboard - gone… Read more

was that delicious nutty flavour. Fortunately I moved to Australia where we could still find the same quality and flavour in the Canadian-made Shredded Wheat. Then, in 2018, Uncle Tobys sourced the UK product - as soon as I realised what they had done I bought every box of the Canadian ones that I could find in Coles, Woolworths and IGA, but they were used up years ago. I have bought only one box since, to establish that this grey and unappetising offering from the UK was as bad as I remembered - it was!

PLEASE Uncle Toby - I will pay a premium for the Canadian Shredded Wheat rather than this miserable UK version. The reasons are clearly a matter of economics - the UK biscuits are smaller and lighter, as well as being tasteless and having a stodgy consistency: as far as I am concerned they should be marketed under a different name. (You will not have noticed, but I will not buy any other Uncle Toby product until you bring back the Canadian Shredded Wheat - still as delicious as the one I fell in love with back in 1950!)

Give it a miss. Won't buy until they listen to customers feedback. Your Money Talks – Loved Shredded Wheat in Canada (Nabisco) Uncle Tobys is well over priced here in Perth @ $5. Ridiculous. No wonder its hard to find. Nobody buys at that price. Reduced quantity & increased price. Just like Cad-ury Chocolate. The mini wheats version would be great without sugar. Where are they available? Show details

horrible new packaging – After buying and eating these for years I recently bought some for the first time in a few months and wasn't happy when I opened the box to find new packaging of them , although they seem to be smaller , might be mistaken i hate the new packaging so much I wont buy them again they are awkward to undo to tightly packaged and have definitely made it… Read more

OMG , what’s happened to the size??? – I’m extremely shocked as to how the Shredded wheat have shrunk in size?? These used to be my absolute favourite cereal but I’m really saddened that they are now half the size they used to be..

Not as advertised, and less convenient. Bit stale, poor packaging procedures. I used to eat three – Well, understandably the taste and colouration has changed due to the switchover from Canadian to British wheat--however, that's no excuse for my still-fresh-after-being-imported-to-Australia Shredded Wheat to suddenly become stale after the switchover. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the fact that Shredded Wheat was packaged… Read more

LOOSELY in brown paper packages, three per package, whereas now they are packed VERY TIGHTLY into white, inked paper. I mean, even the texture has changed; there's less crunch.

Continuing to print 'Using a recipe unchanged since 1893' is a nice little scam; utilising said recipe doesn't necessarily mean that said recipe is still being followed--and there's more to a recipe than simply gathering ingredients and baking it; you've got to get the food to your customers while still fresh.

I should also mention that I used to eat three per meal--or simply share the spare, or save one for later. Adding butter and Marmite (or Vegemite) used to make a nice snack. Having two stale Shredded Wheat per packet is an unwelcome change, as it requires more packaging waste (ink included), and is not objectively more convenient, especially when it's more difficult to get the Shredded Wheat out of the box.

Fresh bread is typically stored loosely in brown paper bags for added crunch--mushrooms are stored in brown paper for freshness as well. Give this some thought.

In summary, it tastes stale, it's inconveniently packaged, it's not following the original recipe, the texture, and flavour has changed, and the product is simply not as advertised. All in all, I am somewhat dissatisfied.

Been eating shredded wheat from late 1970's in UK and late 1990's in Australia. Don't fix it, if it – Several months ago I noticed the biscuits are packed in two's now - OK I thought no problem - it may be the most popular serve. Then I opened the pack and my jaw dropped - the biscuits where not the same - slight shine, more compact. OK I thought - poured the milk, waited a minute and hooked in. Umm, this tastes nothing like my cereal! The… Read more

Hey honey, I shrunk the cereal! – I don't have an earlier version to compare, but have my Shredded Wheat biscuits shrunk? We used to have them sent over from England before they became available in Australia. I'm sure they were bigger not only in the olden days, but a few months ago. Perhaps they think we won't notice the shrinkage if they change the packaging. News flash, folks, I won't eat more if you make them smaller.

Great UK...not Canada! – Has made my day, UK version much better than Canada version, more dense therefore more taste, can get your teeth into it, Canada version was too light and airy! Two pack serve better than 3...who eats 3, therefore stays fresh!

New Shredded Wheat – I thought is box same...opened up new packaging 2 not 3....is less messy but biscuits compacted & different colour. Had to google to check...why change a great product ? Not the same as the highest rating i would give since. Mx

Another good product bites the dust – Surprised and disappointed to find something different in the familiar box. The wheat biscuits, clearly sourced from somewhere else, are ugly and tastless when compared to the old ones.

Not a good move – They reduced the size, they reduced the taste. They think we don’t know. Who are they kidding! Bring back the old one, product of Canada 280 grams.

Once again an example of cost cutting executives who do not understand the market – The changes made to Shredded Wheat by Uncle Toby's have put many people off buying what used to be their favorite breakfast cereal. I have eaten Shredded Wheats for most of my life, 75 years, the taste of the NEW biscuit is absolutely disgusting, the colour looks like, well words fail me. my wife and I have tried them three times and have given… Read more

up. Until the very unlikely return to the original biscuit formula I am one of many who will no longer buy this product. My wife has thrown out the remainder of the packet and as pensioners wasting food is not something we do lightly. Another lost customer.

Change it back – Used to be my favourite cereal. Why change a winner. Texture and taste are not the same, cutting costs and making products smaller will also loose you customers. Change it back.

Woeful – SW used to be my go to breakfast once a week. It now has absolutely no taste and is like horse feed. Could not eat it at all we even gave it our chickens and they wouldn't eat it either. Very angry about this change I even rang uncle Toby's and the customer service lady didn't really care all she could say was sorry. Uncle Toby's need to change it back.

Absolute Garbage........Change it back! – Uncle Toby's has made an awful mistake and thought us consumers wouldn't notice that they substantially changed the product, reduced the contents from 280 grams to 270 grams (they haven't reduced the price) or were dumb enough to fall for the "now in convenient size" of two biscuits per wrapped package rather than 3. Also the biscuit wrappers… Read more

are not environmentally responsible as they now have red printing all over them. This is totally unnecessary as the old plain brown wrappers had a much smaller environmental footprint to produce. The biscuits are now sourced from the UK instead of Canada, presumably to improve the profitability, but the texture and flavour is remarkably different. Maybe in the UK they have had the same bad recipe since 1983 but they are not offering the Australian consumer the same recipe that we have been buying for years. They no longer have a distinct crispness and taste like soggy cardboard.

As a result I will no longer buy any Uncle Toby's cereals as it won't be long before the same tactics are applied to the rest of their product line. What a way to treat your customer base. You have just lost my grocery dollars.

Cost cutting exercise? Customer cutting more likely!! – I’ve just bought a box of the “new” Shredded Wheat - the only cereal I’ve eaten for over 40 years. That box was my last! Very, very, disappointed. Customer lost!

Why? – SW was my favourite cereal- healthy & delicious. The new packaging drew suspicion-10g lighter ! The new bags are ridiculous: way too tight & useless if you only want 1 SW for breakfast. Most importantly the taste & texture are completely inferior. Gone is the caramely chewy taste to be replaced by a brittle biscuit that tastes no better than a wet… Read more

doormat. I'm sure Uncle Toby's will lose old customers & fail to pick up any new ones over this 'upgrade'. Perhaps the next change could involve Australian wheat, not Canadian & certainly not British!

I used to LOVE shredded wheat – I used to love shredded weat as a treat. When i bought the latest box i noticed it was smaller. Then i saw the inside packaging was different. 2 per packet not 3. Then I ate them.... yuck! They tasted stale as though they had been opened. I did read on their webiste that they had moved from producing in Canada (please go back there) to England. I won't be buying another pack unless they go back to what they had before.
