GR8 Fridge couldn't fault it – I've owned one of these for over 3 yrs its run nonstop on solar as a freezer. it has never missed a beat its now a backup if a freezer fails the power drain is minimal temps reach up too mid 40's it's run along side a 60l companion fridge on 520ah of allrounder batteries and 4x 200w 12v low energy development( Rod Irving) Ebay panels on a… Read more

solar setup in SW slopes of NSW and I could not say a bad word about this fridge

the only prob was when the son bumped the cig plug and shut the fridge down

I'd advise hard wire your fridge from the Battery to the fridge with heavy gauge wire and a fuse

cig plugs are the weak link and can burn motors out

Cheers Andy

It's OK, but does have it's flaws – I've had my CDF35 for a few years now and it's been ok. While it's an ok unit (and taking into consideration it's price compared to the more expensive units) there's a few things I didn't like about it: 1) have to keep an eye on the temperature and placement of certain foods in the compartment as it tends to freeze up in certain spots. Lost a… Read more

few cans of beer and softies in the process (especially when connected to 12V for some reason).

2) tends to be a bit power hungry.

3) The seals around the door aren't very good and the lid is very thin and flimsy.

4) The shelf on top of the compressor doesn't get cold so you can't really place any perishables on it.

5) the compressor seems to come on quite often suggesting it's not holding it's temperature well.

6) the external plastic casing isn't a good insulator.

In saying that I bought it for $600 3 years ago, and while I know it's not an Engel or National Luna it has done the job with very few problems. I've taken it offroad numerous times down some very bumpy tracks and still works well. At home it is my beer fridge (connected to 240V) and never had an issue with it.

A warhorse – I picked mine up when when somebody had discarded it.When I got it it was in pieces but I took it home had a look on the Internet.A couple of parts like the temp control I made myself.Anyway I got it going and have been using it for a few years now.I would like to say that the one I have was one tough fridge.  Show details

Beware for Bush use – Heaps of trouble over the years -electronic control panel and then thermistor packed up (twice) because of moisture buildup using the cover supplied. It cost me $110 to replace the control panel, and was quoted $150+ to do the thermistor next time. Did it myself but failed again. Stick to Engel - I should have.  Show details

So far very happy – This fridge has been plugged in for 16days on the 12v system so far extremely happy it is cold on low power and is relatively quite. It freezes very quickly but only tried it once for a test. I intend to have it as a permanent fridge so it will never be turned off. I will update as review as time goes on.  Show details

Unreliable – I have trouble with flashing error lights on 12v but also on 240. Slide temp control has been replaced. Voltage drop in a 10 m cable is .3 volts with 12.8 at the fridge. Save yourself the agro - buy another brand - I'm unfortunately stuck with this one till I really get annoyed and take it to the tip.

great so far – Bought it approx 3 weeks ago, it has been on since, on 12 volt as well as 240 and so far is excellent. Had to get used to fridge/ freezer settings but now all good on that score too.

Total loss after 2 years' light use – Bought in early 2013, mine has the Wanbo (Chinese) compressor and the performance has steadily deteriorated. Now just out of warranty and has failed completely. The service agent says it would cost too much to be worth repairing. I won't be buying another Waeco anytime soon.

Brill – I bought mine in 2000 and still good---15years rough roads in the bush every year just had the fan replaced $70-when the fan fails the compresser cuts off

Excellent fridge – I have owned three of these fridges. The first, with a German Danfos compressor, has performed without fault for 6+ years. The second ( also Danfos) I bought second hand, used it for three years, and sold it to a buyer who seems happy. It had obviously had some rough use before I owned it but never failed to perform. The third (with the Chinese… Read more

compressor) I bought cheap as it was sold for parts or repair. However it was fine when I tried it. Sold it cheap to a friend who is still happy after 12 months of regular use. I didn't notice a performance difference between the two compressors although I would expect the German one to last longer. With regards to the manual thermostat, I have not had any real issues with temperature setting. A Waeco representative at a caravan show told me the manual thermostat gives fewer problems than the digital one. I have a CF-25 with a digital display and it has given no problems in the 12 months I have used it. Simple, reliable, robust The design of the lid could be improved - falls off easily.

hot product for hot climate – We got it for our trip to the Red Centre and beyond, total 9000 km, during "Autumn" with 35-40°C for most of our trip. Couldn't say a bad word, except it required careful temp adjustment. Because it lacks of a thermometer, we bought one from ebay (less than 2 AUD. It is external/internal thing with a probe going inside, the meter/display is… Read more

smaller than a matchbox. Depending on external temp, we adjusted the sliding potenciometer.

When left on full, the whole load was transformed into an ice block! :)

Can't prize highly enough. cools as declared, manageable in a middle size SW. probably a permanent temp indicator would be nice and a digital temp adjustment; just a wish, not a flaw.

Best ever fridge – I can never again drink a beer from the fridge. I havet by Waeco set at sub zero and when I open a beer ice crystals form and melt in my mouth. What could you possibly more want from a compact travel fridge freezer. Also good for keeping all sorts of thingd cold or frozen.

Very good all-round performer, but – The CDF35 comes in two forms...the older series (with the German BD35 compressor) and the "overhauled" version with the Chinese Wanbo compressor,(that's been out for a few years now). I purchased mine (the older version) very recently, second-hand. Both look the same from the outside. As to which performs better, I can't tell you, however my one… Read more

is a really great performer down to about -10 degrees C. After that, the pull down, slows down, to about -16 and sort of "levels out." I think this is done on purpose to make the CF series performance superior,(to -18), however the fridge/frosty temperature range is more quickly reached with the CDF. It's a very handy shape and size, with a good internal shape and capacity. Not having external handles makes it more compact and lighter. Its more expensive brother (the CF35) scores the usual CF features...Removable handles, internal wire basket, internal light,"onboard" 240volt input, and now here's the "BUT..", the FAR superior settable "digital display" & control capabilities, which makes the un-calibrated temp. slide control on the CDF range look like something from the 70's. I find this really disappointing. What you need to do is to "calibrate" the slide path, at least marking "0"degrees,(and maybe +4 or +5) using a digital thermometer. That aside, it's a great all-rounder, especially with the bonus combo pack on at present (transit case and 240 to 12 volt adaptor)... As to how it performs with the Chinese compressor, maybe someone can let me know... Relatively light weight. Great fridge/"frosty" freeze performance. Good value with combo pack. Very basic control capabilities, and no internal light.(but a blanking plate is there to allow one to fit)

Excellent – It's great for us because of the compact size but still has plenty of room inside. We bought the CDF-35 Pack from Fridge And Power, which ended up being the cheapest price online. This came with a cover and a 240 volt power supply. The size. It is perfect for our Mazda 323 boot. We looked at the 40 litre unit but it was a tad too big, so we're very happy Requires separate mains power supply

Excellent – Great little fridge, money well spent. I would definitely recommend getting one in the promotional CDF35 pack as it includes the protective cover and 240v adaptor. Compact size, ease of use, keeps things super super cold inside and still light enough to carry with a full load. Not too noisy when its in operation and it will actually swallow 2L… Read more

cool drink bottles standing up in it (in the recesses for the 1.5L bottles). Doesnt seem to draw much power either and with the protective cover it looks quite smart. Not much, the temperature adjustment switch (slide switch) is a pretty vague way of adjusting interior temp - its a case of experimenting with it to get the right temp otherwise you'll freeze your beers! (and that's with it turned only half way down)

Excellent – I believe its one of the best products we have purchased. It takes the charge through an 240 volt and 12 volt through your vehicle. The battery keeps charge for around 2 days, so we have found, and could go longer. Although not cheap in price its well worth the money spent. When we bought it, around 6 months ago, it did not have a cover on the… Read more ·  1

market for it, but we converted a 40 ltr one to fit and it works very well. I highly recommend this product. Its compact and light and extremely reliable Nothing to complain about
