A good vacuum, quite bulky and a few design flaws – I have owned this model for a number of years now, I bought this second hand after the first one had burnt out due to using carpet powder which had clogged the filter. Then had to stick with a crappy Hoover Smart (bagless) for about four years. Another four years we bought a Hoover Prestige 7010PH hoping it would be like the wertheim,… Read more

unfortunately the filters needed to be maintained more regularly. We bought a Wertheim 3180 second hand, it was the same model we previously had owned and it just had a minor scent of dog too it.

For starters I will come off with the pros of this machine: It has very good suction. There is an onboard attachment storage caddy and good filtration (for its time), the suction change is a must have for all vacuum cleaners as sometimes max can be too strong, the electric head enables embedded dirt to get brushed out of the carpet and sucked up into the canister, the canister is very easy to empty, and the filter does not get clogged with large bits of dirt.

Although I do really like this machine there are a few cons which cost this machine too lose a few marks: The cord is a little bit too short for my liking, The HEPA filter is a little bit too thin for my liking, you have to disconnect the cord from the base of the machine to turn off the power head which then causes the plug to scratch the floor boards, it is quite loud. pressing the little metal button is a pain to get any attachments off, it is very bulky (I think it could've been squished tighter and smaller.), the button for turning it on and off gets stuck very often, and sometimes in the electric head, dust can get caught inside the U-bend causing a blockage, the problem is that I have to fully strip down the head to the U-bend just to relive the blockage which can be cause with something as minor as a tiny clump of dog fur.

Other than these few minor issues overall I think this is an outstanding machine with very powerful suction, and amazing performance and it is very easy to use besides the bulkiness. If I were to buy this second hand again I certainly would considering the experience I have had with this machine

15 years old and runs well – Great value for money. I think Wertheim used to be made in Germany, but that’s since changed to China, though it may vary between models. I’ll think twice about buying another one since I prefer German / Japanese made products.  Show details ·  1

Suction good but some design flaws – Purchased two of these models and their suction is very good. However, they have some design flaws. 1) The electrical cable that connects the powerhead to the vacuum cleaner and runs in the vacuum tube has two connections and after normal use, it becomes disconnected and obviously the powerhead losers power. On investigation, the connection in the… Read more

tube was poor and prone to easily disconnect in the future. This has happened with both vacuum cleaners and I rewired the powerheads. The electrical cable should be one continuous piece and secured on the outside of the tube. 2) The power cord has a mind of its own and often retracts. 3) The plastic handle on one of vacuum cleaners cracked easily without too much force applied when vacuuming and had to secure with duct tape. 4) With the electrical cable running in the vacuum tube, the volume is reduced and occasional clogging can occur. Overall, beside these faults, they still function well. However, the new 7 series cleaners are double the price compared to the 3 series, around $1299 with a 2yr warranty. If I'm spending $1299 for the 7 series model, I would want at least a 5yr warranty for domestic use. For that amount of money, a 2yr warranty isn't good enough.

Has been a great vacuum cleaner – Wow i can't believe all the bad reviews. I've had mine for nearly 12 years I think. paid $499 on sale. Have had no trouble except having to replace the belt a few times due to wear. I've pulled it to bits a few times due to hair being clogged around the wheel parts but that's only due to usage. Everything needs maintenance, in cleaning the filter regularly, emptying when needed & replacing belt, ect. Powerhead is great. No faults with mine. Show details

Good – I vaccuum my carpets in the morning and in the afternoon I bought the wertheim and vaccuum again, I couldn't believe how much dirt came out and the carpets and they were all fluffed out with the powerhead. Good – Ask for instalment payments then where-ever you buy from has to provide good after service or risk not getting paid....also on the contract ask them to note the contact details of the financier as most dont. for dust and dog hair esp retriever hair. Powerful but not overly noisy can hear the telephone over it. As you only vaacuum once you are not going over the one area over and over again, it saves time. Men like using it due to power head. out of 20 we give it an 18. doesnt include hard floor attachments, little complex for the elderly re changing filters every 6 months, this models power cord and plug were not built very sturdily (in words of supplier)power plug bends when heated so will probably need them to change it within 6 months (under warranty), but they were happy to replace - twice. **note: do not let the turbo head run over rugs as they get so caught up you would need the supplier to remove it from the roller* pick up all sheets / blankets before using. Retain receipt for warranty information (sometimes the seller did not make this clear as should come with 3 year warranty). Little expensive for $399 but worth it for dust/allergy and asthma sufferers. **get supplier to include a couple of extra filters as part of price this will save you going back again later..*

A big waste of money – I bought this vacuum cleaner back in 2007 on Godfreys recommendations. I payed $499 and it was on sale. It worked well for the first few weeks then it started to lose suction and also it became harder to wheel around. Almost as if the wheels were stuck and I was just sliding it on the carpet. It's very bulky. I've put up with it and had it serviced regularly but I've had enough. I want to throw it.  Show details

Terrible vacuum cleaner. Had to buy another – The motorised vacuum head was quite good but I dread vacuuming with it. It is heavy and does not move easily around the carpets. Useful for a couple who live in a dust free home. The motorised head and suction very good for about 10 minutes. Can only clean one room before it needs emptying and the filter unblocking.

It does the job - Thanks to the Godfreys recommendation – Where should I start, I bought it back in 2006 if I am not mistaken. It was perfect at first look, I was so impressed I decided to buy the display model at cheaper price (so I thought) due to running out of stock. Until I went to Westfield (few days later) and I saw the same exact model brand new at the same price! Nicely done Godfreys staff = ) … Read more

I must admit the quality of the suction is great with powerhead attachment when the bag and the filter are clean, but after a few jobs and the dust starting to accumulate the filter, it will clog badly and eventually it will stop the machine due to over heating. Not just that, it will eventually loses its suction and the machine will turn off every couple of minutes if you set to the maximum power. Once it off, it will take another hour or two (Time for a cuppa) to get up and running.

These days I found the way to get around it by set the power to the minimum when working and once a month clean thoroughly the dust filter by using another vacuum (Yes I have 2 vacuum cleaners).

Another thing is, the cord is not long enough and the retractable is not working properly which I have managed to used IKEA clip to prevent that.

I am still waiting until this thing totally dead, and I am able to purchase a new one! Great suction with powerhead when the bag and filter are clean. Overheating when use Maximum power, the cord too short, clogged badly, chunky and heavy.

Evil vacuum cleaner – I have spent countless hours fiddling with this vacuum in an attempt to get it working properly. It is extremely bulky, especially with the head on, this is made worse by the fact that the straight part that connects to the head is broken as is the hose. If you try and turn it on maximum for over 15 minutes it overheats (not entirely sure if it is… Read more

Also it cleans very well when the bag first emptied, but after a little bit of dirt it looses suction very quickly.

the worst vacuum in the world – I spent $400 on is peice of poop about 6 years ago - from Godfreys. The powerhead soon became stuck with hair. Then about a week after the 1 year warranty ran out i tried the powerhead again onlto have it completly stop, and no hair was stuck in the brush. Idismantled and refit the belt. however this broke again next time sed it.

Avoid at all costs - poor design, poor quality about to buy a dyson.

OK – Overall I like it, but I have a small house with hard wood floors and just a few rugs, so it does not really get a good work out. Terrible – Very poorly designed vacuum that is not user friendly at all. This is an example of why you shouldn't buy a cheap bagless vacuum, you spend 90% of your time cleaning it than you do cleaning your floors. power head on, without, it was useless. Then it goes downhill from there. What can I say, I hate this vacuum, after 4 months of use it started to fall apart. Hard to put together, hard to pull apart, the little silver things that hold everything in place, cane your fingers when you try to push them in to pull the hose pipe and fittings apart. Everytime I vacuum it gets clogs with hair and dust, takes my husband 20mins to get it out after every vac (flithy). Get covered in the dirty flithy contents of the dust bin everytime you empty it. Cord is poorly place next to wheels, gets caught and the machine (junk) tips over. Electric cord in the hose got a loose wire (there goes the only thing that was decent the power head and 90 bucks to get a new one). Mind hose was held together by silver tape. 12 months later and what happens the new hose has just split again. I wish I owned a chain saw because I would so like to put this piece of crap out of is misery. The nice MAN at GODFREYS had the hide to try and sell me another and when I protested he told me "don't put all Wertheim's in the same crappy vacuum basket just because you bought a poorly designed, problem riddled piece of junk". "Well NICE MAN at GODFREY'S never, never again would I buy anything from you or your rip off store".

My husband constantly comes home to find me sitting around numerous pieces of this hoover, madly duct-taping it all back together so I can finish cleaning the rest of the house. My hose now comes in 3 seperate parts, all with multi-coloured duct-tape!

The wheels are hard to turn and I generally just drag and kick the thing around.
