Solid as a brick – Bought this vacuum 13 years. Only now just starting to die. Overall the motor is still doing great, but the handle rod is starting to crack. Has done amazing. It’s solid as a brick, unfortunately for our first rental which wasn’t built very well, it took a couple gauges out of corner walls. Awesome power head got so much sand, dirt, play dough and dog hair out of the carpets. Show details
Do Not Waste Your Money – I paid $900 for my 4430 about 3 years ago and from day one had nothing but trouble with it. Things just keep breaking and of course it's out of warranty. So I have bit the bullet and spent $800 on a dyson and the suction is just as good and it is HEAPS lighter than the wertheim. Would never buy a wertheim again.
I love my machine – I have had my Wertheim W4430 for about 3 1/2 years, although, I admit that it is a little heavy and was overpriced but know I am going to have clean carpets and do so with my floor tiles throughout the house. The suction is 100%, be would recommend this machine to everyone.
Unhappy – we paid over $700 for this machine, not long after we bought it, the telescopic handle broke, now the attachment compartment latch is broken. Very unhappy with it.
Lemon – I have had nothing but trouble with this $1200 machine. 2 years old and now the damn thing won't even turn on. It is absolute rubbish.
Disappointing – Yes great suction through the power head. The last 2 vacuum cleaners I had before this were Miele and initially I was very impressed with the suction on the Werthiem. My rugs had never been so clean . After 2 years though my delight has turned to frustration with the constant blockages in the machine. I have 2 dogs and the machine seems to be… Read more
constantly operating on reduced suction because hair is blocking the hose. The design of the hose and handle make it difficult to identify where the problem is and clear it. This was by far the most expensive vacuum cleaner I have ever bought but was optimistic it would last me many years. The power head has stopped working and I think i will be looking at investing in a Miele s8 model.
Best cleaner I've ever owned or used but a few problems – On the plus side, the power head cleans most carpeted floors beautifully, but works best on cut pile rather than loop pile. Especially good if you have a lot of pet hair. Hard floors are better cleaned using the ordinary head. The stairs attachment is next to useless. I just use the power attachment on carpeted stairs, which isn't ideal as it… Read more
doesn't fit them properly. I don't find it heavy or difficult to manoeuvre, quite the opposite. I've sent my machine back to the shop annually for free maintenance and it has needed it. It comes back good as new. On the down side, apart from the stairs cleaner, I also find unlocking the arm almost impossible, it is so stiff, and once off, it is difficult to put back on. The bags are expensive and the bagless attachment tube that I purchased as an optional extra was taken off me by the shop during annual maintenance as it had been recalled due to potential electric shock. I've tried various models from Electrolux, Kirby, Philips, Miele, Dyson and, Black and Decker.
Worst vacuum ever...hate hate hate it. I would rate it a zero if I could!! – Do not buy this vacuum cleaner. Although it cleans/suck great, especially with the power head, it is sooo overpriced. First, it is heavy and sooooo hard to manoeuvre. Secondly, things will fall apart: our cord kept rolling back in, the filter cap blew off...it is sooo horrible to use, I barely touch it now.
Functional flaws – Disconnecting the main hose & metal hoses is a frustrating and time consuming task, because the locking mechanism is not as straight forward as implied by supplier (Geoffrey's Henderson Plaza, Henderson). The smaller carpet/floor attachment has a fault in the plastic joint where the metal pin is suppose to keep the attachment together. Ever since… Read more
I have had the Wertheim 4430 31/2yrs this part comes apart everytime I use it in my 3level home (frustration, you bet yah). Have returned it to supplier who pointed out to me on both occasions that it was easy to fix by just doing this, this & this (sadly I gave up on the supplier & manufacturer NZ).
Disgraceful parts quality! – First up I will say that I have never had a vacuum cleaner clean my carpet as well.......that is, when it is working. Using the power head, it started to stop and start, until finally the power head wouldn't work anymore. I returned it to Godfreys three times (on return each time there was the same problem) until they finally admitted that there… Read more
was a common problem with the connection of the power pole to the power head - it gets loose over time - a design fault with this model. They supplied me with a new power pole for free and my 4430 was up and running again beautifully... until it happened again. Now I have a machine where I can't use the power head, which is exactly the feature I bought it for. This machine cleans beautifully, unfortunately the parts it is made out of are useless, flimsy and let down this machine. Basically it won't last very long. So disappointed!!! Cleans well Won't last due to design and material faults, so what is the point!
Badly made, extremely heavy and way, way too expensive – We were talked into this by the salesman at Godfrey's, as we wanted something that could deal with pet hair. It certainly performs very well as a picker-upper in the hands of a young and strong salesman, but we are 70 and 74, and it's just too heavy. Not well made either. Plastic bits fall off or malfunction. It usually takes us both a heavy tug… Read more
of war to pull it apart when it clogs up (often!).Often reminds me of that Crown forklift ad - nothing like a Crown for picking it up and putting it down, because it often drops again what it's just picked up. We have had this monster for three years, and apart from getting our weekly strenuous exercise quota, we don't find it congenial, and are giving it away and opting for a lightweight machine. Not feeling like going back to Godfrey's though, as they gypped us with this overpriced lemon in the first place. When it's working it certainly picks up well. Poor quality plastic parts, very heavy, super expensive, often fails
Beware of this Beast... It falls to Bits! – This cleaner does a bloody good job BUT it's heavy and hard to move around. The plastic fittings on the pipe work including the electrical plug connections to the powered head, all break. With a couple of months we had to use insulation tape to hold it all together. Would I buy another one?? No way..not unless it was priced at around $400.00 Does a great cleaning job You g et sick of dragging int around...it needs better wheels for mobility
Wertheim 4430 - Hate this vacuum! – Very heavy machine and power head, very noisy, despite hepa filter makes house smell when I use it. Very hard to move around the house. Ongoing costs because you need to buy bags for it. Need to clean the filter and replace them also. Bought a Dyson, best vacuum I have ever owned. Heavy, smelly, hard to move

Good vacuum cleaner – I needed to replace our old vacuum cleaner which was also a wertheim, the only reason why I had to replace it was because the head was dunked into water while vacuuming. I was able to trade it in for this model vacuum cleaner for $300. I'm happy with my wertheim 4430, we've had it for about 4 years, nothing has broken, and the telescopic arm works… Read more
well, sometimes a little too well that I cannot get it off the actual vacuum hose. It is difficult to get the vacuum hose off the vacuum also but it just locks in well. I like using the power head, it cleans the carpets really well, I have beige carpets and they always look very clean after using the power head. I also have plush carpets with strands about 2 inches long, and the power head combs through them well. The suction is great, and works well when I vacuum the cat hair off the curtains.
The vacuum is quite heavy and so is the power head. I figured that if I vacuum I may as well use the power head to get a good clean. Good suction, good power head. Heavy power head, vacuum does not move around corners too well.
Great until it breaks down after 2 years – The 6030 was great for 2 weeks after the warranty ran out then the head and switch needed replacing the cost of repair was to be $500.00. We were to the it is not meant to pick up large amount of dust. God for bid why do you use a vacuum cleaner. Great for carts until it broke down Repair costs
Good suction, parts break easily – We've had our 4430 for 4 years now, and it still has good suction. The best thing about it is that I can change the bag without getting my 'dust reaction'. ie no dust escapes that bag. The power head is heavy and often it gets clogged up with our long hair which seems to accumulate on the bedroom floor. I tend to use the normal head because it's… Read more
much lighter. The cleaner does not manoeuvre well and gets stuck on table legs, around corners etc. The cord retracts well. We have replaced the metal pole which was expensive. It is difficult to take the head on and off for sucking around skirting etc. However this means the head does not fall off accidentally. Suction, look of carpet after vacuuming, contains dust brilliantly Expensive, heavy, moves badly
Bad Services/Poor Quality – When I first went to Godfreys to find a new vaccumm cleaner (Wertheim) their service was very good. They were very friendly, and told us that we could take it home and if we didn't like it we could take it back within 14 days and get a refund. But when we actually did it, they didn't seem to be happy to service us anymore, and blamed us for… Read more
wasting their money, because the Wertheim cleaner couldn't be sold as a brand new. Cleans carpets well. Too bulky, poor quality with attachments, bad services.
An absolute dud – RetUrned twice within 24 hours - second time got my money back. Bought from Godfreys - absolute con job given this is their home brand. Telescopic pole was faulty out of the box, returned it within the hour and was given a second faulty one. Salesman tried to tell me there was np refund available - reminded the franchisee of consumer… Read more
protection and the ACCC and pretty soon had a refund!
This experience was reminiscent of a sales con job out of the 60's. What a disgace!
Expensive, overrated, missile and poor quality
as a domestic tasks carer – as a domestic tasks carer i have the hardest time with the wertheim vacuum cleaner. very heavy, very hard to get around with it, very hard to change the heads, average cleaning results. i would not recomment it. very difficult usage. pulled a muscle because of this vacuum cleaner and . very heavy, very hard to get around with it, very difficult to change heads
Overpriced, underdelivered – This is heavy, doesnt roller very well, the power cord gets really hot. I think the hot cord is dangerous. Took it back to godfreys, they just looked at me like im stupid and said its ok. Paid $1000 at Godfreys, they raved on it was the best. Must have seen me coming. Had to get it fixed twice under warranty. My old Volta 10years old moves… Read more
around on the floor heaps better.
Thank god our new house has ducted. Got the Hide a hose system its brilliant. good suction Heavy, doesnt roll or move very well, keeps getting caught on things, hot power cord,
Disappointing for the price – Purchased the Wertheim W4430 2 years ago, paid $1100 & was very excited to have been able to afford what Godfreys claim to be the best vacuum cleaner available. Unfortunately this soon wears off when the design flaws & poor quality shows up! First Quality: The plastic ends are pop riveted on to the steel telescopic pole & break with normal use,… Read more
this includes even the plastic tools & power head, Godfreys are aware the plastic is brittle but rather than improve the design, just keep on replacing parts until the warrantee runs out, hence the bloated $1100 Design flaws: Some technical genius fitted the machine with 3 wheels the size of marbles, with the weight, the front wheel has a mind of its own, following any tiny grove on the floor & digs into the carpet making it hard to pull along, to the point where it will not even run over its own cord, Because the hose enters from the top of the unit, pulling / dragging the machine just makes it constantly & frustratingly roll over on its side all the time, It becomes a real task to vacuum the house. I would love to say I made a great choice buying this vacuum cleaner & it was money well spent but unfortunately feel a bit ripped off & disappointed. Good Points: Has constant strong suction filling the bag full & the Power head cleans the carpet really well when working.
My advice, buy a Miele or Hoover you will get a better designed / made machine & have money left in your pocket. Good suction & cleans carpet well when working Poor quality & design & dust bags from Godfreys only
Excellent – I ended up buying a Wertheim X5000 (their new bagless model) but that is only because I prefer bagless to bagged machines. My mother has a 4430 and I borrowed hers for a few weeks before making my decision to buy a new vacuum (when my old electrolux broke). After using a powerhead, my life changed and the 4430 was great. If i liked bags better, i would have bought myself one! Works well

Great suction - poor quality finish – Looked for a quality vacuum cleaner and were prepared to pay for it. Were she cleaner at a Godfreys store and decided the powerhead was a great selling point. Power suction head. Build quality is poor. We have had several parts replaced - the powerhead, the handle, telescopic arm to name a few. Plastic doesn't cut it. Very disappointed as it isn't a cheap cleaner expected better!!

Excellent – Very impressed with this machine.so far. have always had quality vac cleaners and used a variety of others and prefer the bag type but am glad i got the dust interceptor attachment. (best of both types this way). they are expensive but think the price reasonable , there are more expensive types of vac cleaners out there. very impressed with its… Read more
performance and easy enought to use . The powerhead does a really good job, amazing the amount of dirt that was on the carpet still in the high traffic areas. Great job on my mats. like being able to lower or raise when the different surfaces require this , example from the carpet then onto the rug . Also have the turbo dust interceptor and this saves a lot of dirt going to the bag. easy to empty and you can see the amount of dirt that it is sucking up .
Great suction let down by dismal build quality – Over the space of 18 months we bought 4 different vacuums, including cyclonic, in attempt to get one that would clean our carpet in our new house we bought off the plan. The carpet is a strange waffle design and vacuums just couldn't seem to get a seal due to the high parts and low parts of the carpet. Eventually we got sick to death of never… Read more
having a properly cleaned carpet and went into that well known vacuum shop. We bought the Wertheim and after getting it home we were very impressed with the cleaning ability of the powerhead, nothing came close. Alas after around 5 months things started going wrong. The powerhead gave up the ghost which wad replaced under warranty but left us without a vacuum for a couple of weeks. Next came the metal tube which wouldnt stay in it's adjusted position, everytime you pushed it the tube would telescope down into itself, infuriating. That was replaced also. Then the tube wouldn't stay connected to the head. Next the handle wouldn't stay on. This is inexcusable as the vacuum did not have a hard life by any standards. It's also inexcusable at the price, this is an expensive vacuum. It's at the stage now where it's not worth the bother and we're in the market for a new one. The Dysons, Meiles and any other brand would find the Wertheim's powerhead and suction very hard to beat in any price range. Very cheap build. Plastic parts fall apart without any outside help. What's the point in having the best suction if the thing is constantly broken!
Excellent – Well designed European, quality vacuum with heaps of extras. Easy to manuvere. Pleasantly surprised after previous experiences. Only too happy 2 recommend. Great machine, good filtration and suction along with a first class powerhead.
