Westinghouse LD500B

5 repairs in 6 years, over it – First this is for the LD500, not the LD500B. I presume mine is the model before this one, but it isn't on here to review. If this model uses the same mechanism, then it is entirely relevant. The bearings are renowned for crumbling, according to the techs I've had repair it. I had two repairs under warranty, two more I had to pay for, the last one was by a friend, so free, but still annoying. If I'd paid for the last one I'd have forked out more in total on repairs than the machine itself.

And now the bearings are gone, AGAIN. Bringing it up to needing its sixth repair in six years.

I bought this model as it was one of the last still made in Australia. I believe crappy design using inferior quality components to be the cause of the repeated failure. Liked the brand, was made in Australia. Breaks way too frequently, expensive to repair.

Good – purchesed 5 months ago. decided to buy this 5kg model (on special for about $430 at retra vision) because my work has the same 6kg model. i work in a child care centre and we dry about 5-7 full loads in the 6kg dryer every day- monday to friday.i don't use my 5kg one quite that much at home but feel rather confident that if the 6kg model can take that much of a beating (full loads, plastic bibs, people slamming the door shut, it even got knocked off the wall mount once) that my general use for a family of 5, well... enough said fits a large load. quiet. beeps 5 times when finished. removes all traces of lint on clothes,towells etc. large opening door. can flip upside down so can open door both ways Sometimes thicker/heavier items need another spin
