Still going after 19 years – Bought in 2003 still going strong. Never had any problems it does move occasionally when unbalanced in the last few years but not a big problem. Show details
15 years and counting – And survived the last six years in a household of five. The dampers are of course shagged, so it does try to wander around the laundry when spinning up (but is stable once it gets up to speed). Did need the motor replaced a few years ago, and later the door seal (someone failed to check that a bra hook wasn't caught in the door...). Hopefully haven't jinxed it by writing this review... People people... are you all that gullible??? – Can't believe how lazy some people are. Do your homework. Best machine ever made. The plastic bit on the door can be replaced and you don't need to buy a whole new door. Just repaired mine $17. Had mine ten years. Been to hell and back. Kept it from the ex. HaHa!! Bout to put new dampeners in as she gets a violent wobble on spin when heavy towels go in.. From me and the new girlfriend!! Show details
Can't fault it – We've had this machine for over 10 years, used 3-4 times a week and it's never had a problem. The trim cracked in a couple of places earlier than I would have expected, but the mechanics and electronics have been faultless. It can be quite noisy during the spin cycle. Show reply
Excellent reliable machine – Had this model for about 10-12 years after we bought it second hand and never once had an issue with it. Minor rust showing up now but never stopped or had to spend a dollar on it. Best appliance we've ever owned so we would highly recommend to anyone else. Very reliable, never stopped
Terrible – When looking for a new washing machine keep away from the computerised machines and go for the old dial sort. Worked really well for the first 2 years. Stainless steel tumbler was a major feature of this machine when I bought it. Once the internal computer stuffs up it's now can't go through the full cycle without the E50 error. Total pain as… Read more
it'll cost more to replace the internal computer than it will to buy a new washing machine. And due to the dampness it'll more than likely happen again.
Terrible – I have one that is about 6 years old. Functionally, it works fine. But the plastic edging around the top started disintegrating about 18 months ago. The edging itself can't be replaced - you need to buy the whole top for about $100+. And the other day, the plastic bit on the door latch fell apart. My husband took it apart and that plastic bit… Read more
is a separate little piece that we should be able to replace. However, the company doesn't sell it separately. You have to buy the whole door for $250. This is ridiculous and I will not be buying anything from Westinghouse again. Why is the machine housing built so cheaply? It saves water. The plastic parts on the housing are falling apart after 6 years.
It takes too long to be able to open the door after stopping the cycle. It's a pain in the neck to add something during the wash cycle.
Shocker!! – I bought this machine for a holiday house. It is (was) used barely 8 times a year for 6 years. The absolute maximum amount of light duty washing it did was less than 100 washes. Early this year it stopped completely - and upon extensive diagnostics by serviceman it was found to need a new motor($400+) It must now be junked and Westinghouse will… Read more
be informed. What an appalling standard of manufacture produces this outcome? Water efficient, good cleaning Poor manufacturing!
wont buy westinghouse again – Bought the machine in 2003 and was doing wonderfully well - and it did to some hard work. However this year the door latch broke and I could not open the door. After the repairman come out twice - found out that the little 2 cm piece of plastic that broke on the door handle could not be replaced I had to buy the whole door for $240. Such a waste… Read more
of material and of money. Repairman also had to tighten belt as was making horrendous noise spinning. Now the seal around the door appears to be leaking and water is coming out of the soap dispenser tray. bought because of water efficency replacement parts - having to spend $240 (+service fee) on buying replacing door
Good – Overall these are great machines, I fix these 700, 708 and the 711. We still have a LF 700B washing our clothes after 8 1/2 years. I have replaced the computer board and a door seal that's it in the 8 1/2 years. We are a family of 7 and we was twice a day most days , so it has seen a lot of work. I source parts second hand and service machines so… Read more · 1
the cost is not so high. Yes they do have there faults but worth keeping. When I service these machines I expect at least another 5 years good service from them. Washes the clothes well. Is very gentle on the clothes. The computer board seem to be their weakest point. Bearings are also a common fault ( this is mostly due to over loading).
Bad – Very disapointed didnt expect to have to buy another machine so quickly my old washing machine lasted 10 years and is still going strong at my mums house. It cost a hell of alot at time of purchase and didnt reck my clothes but i dint expect it to die on me so soon. Very dissapointed....What are manufacturers doing building unreliable machines....… Read more
It was very easy to use quiet at first and cleaned my clothes wonderfully. It kept my clothes unrecked and i didnt have to hand wash anymore. witch is its great point. Had to get it checked three times in warantee period bounced around the room alot made a funny noice, eventualyy the noices were spo loud i could hear it on the other side of the house. Now it washes my clothes and wont rince it has a code that comes up and says SE which isnt in the manual for it so disapointed. I had to buy front loader detergent not cheap.
Excellent – I can't complain about my machine that I've had for 7 years now. Yes, it has jumped around a bit - when overloaded. With all the spinning around it does it has to go a bit unstable sometimes but it isn't difficult to sort out. Yes, the rubber seal gets a bit grungy and mouldy - but like all appliances they need a once over every now and then. I'll… Read more · 2
be sad when it does die - as all appliances eventually do - but will definitely consider another Westinghouse. It does a gentle hand wash cycle, it tells how long the wash is going to be, love the time delay option so I can set it to finish when I'm going to be heading home = no smelly washing. I can't complain. Hey, it does my washing! The only time my clothes have been damaged is when my husband has put on a load. He only knows one setting and puts everything in together!!
Excellent – I love the various wash types and the fact that you can chose the spin speed and water temperature no matter what cycle you choose. It has excellent economy of electricity and water so is great for the environment. It cleans clothes really well and uses little water and electricity. The quick 30 programme cleans lightly soiled clothes well. As with most front loaders the normal wash cycle takes a lot longer than a top loader.

OK – Overall it was a great machine while it lasted, just didn't appreciate having to go and spend another $1000 on a new one to replace it. Was an excellent washing machine for almost 4 1/2 yrs without any services. Washed clothes well and had a good variety of cycles, spin speeds and water temps. After 4 yrs it started jumping around the room when it… Read more
was spinning until it totally died a few months later. The repairer came out and said straight away that the bearing was gone and the part alone is about $500 and will probably cost around $800 to get fixed. WHAT THE...??!!!!! So that was the end of that!!
OK – A reasonable machine, for the price. It seems that most manufacturers these days do not build their machines to last for 20 - 30 years as in the past [my mom has an Asea which is 32 yrs old and still going strong], as otherwise no one would ever need a new machine. So I guess a life span of 6 - 7 years with no problems is reasonable. I will be… Read more
investing a lot more on my next machine, in the hope that paying the extra now will give me a better quality machine and give a longer life. A fairly good machine, not bad value for the price. Had machine for 6 years with no major problems. Really like the 30 minute wash option. Easy to use with follow your nose buttons. Does not have a standalone 'spin' program. Also, as with many other reviews on this site, I have found mine to jump around in the spin cycle, and cannot use it at night as it would wake up the babies.
It does have a stand alone spin feature. You turn the power on and press the spin button and that gives you just a spin feature.
Good – this is quite a good machine. it gets dirt out well and I like the fact that is is very water friendly. It is also very gentle on the clothes, I would never go back to a top loader. washes well and uses very little water items are inclined to come out in a ball
Excellent – A front loader washing machine with 7kg capacity, with push button electronic controls and max spin of 800 rpm, triple A water rating. A great buy and less cost than most electronic 7 kg front loaders. I have been using it for over 5 years and has not caused any trouble and has been totally reliable from day one. A front loader I can happily… Read more
endorse and recommend. great value and economical, long lasting (have had it for over 5 years and still going strong), 7kg load, plenty of options and features now that I have encountered even after 5 years of use
Good – A WOMANS LOGIC!!2 weeks ago, my washing machine failed to finish the last 3 minutes. It held about 4 litres of water in the bottom. Today we were planning on buying another washing machine, my husband is due home at 2pm. After reading the reviews, l thought it wasn't worth fixing, another problem is probably around the corner. I wonder whether it… Read more
was possible that the computer in the machine was not realising that it hadn't emptied, due to the power surges. l decided to empty the machine, l tipped it out on the grass and drained the hose. Now l don't know if my logic was right, or what has happened but IT'S WORKING, I HAVE NOW DONE 2 FULL LONG LOADS. YIPPEE. INCREASE MY RATING TO 4 Please check my 25th July review,l wish to add this review.Gentle cycles, great wash. It started to fail 2 weeks ago, after some power surges while building a galvanised fence around our property, welders and grinders were used which overloaded the power box. The machine now ended on 03 with water in the bowl.
Terrible – I undertook detailed research before purchasing this model. Recommended as the 'best buy' by Choice. I was really happy with it until 'the noise' started. According to the service people it is common fault with this model. Apparently the seals do notstop water entering the bearings. Avoid at all cost. It is a great machine for the period of the… Read more
warranty Do not buy this machine !!!! 6 months past the warranty period. The bearings and shaft have gone and the cost to repair is more than half the purchase price !!!

I have used this model for 8 years, about 3 washes per week, with no problem!
