16 years product – Cheers to Westinghouse. We bought a LT758S 7.5kg top loader on the 09.05.2005 from David jones serial number 45180574 (on special), moved house 3 times, taken good care of it, washed out with half cup on medium cycle bi soda once years ago. Clean as a whistle. 16 years The pump has just gone, could be drain pump. Could Westinghouse recommend a similar (in product and price) 7.5kg washing machine? or if Westinghouse will offer a free technician to verify, inspect, have the documentation, including instructions. Blue Mountains. Thankyou Still works fine, however, written to reps online needing verification it is the pump, replaceable, not the drain pump, irreplaceable. Although big, it does the job, blankets, quilts even bucket soak/wash in warm water then just spin dry. Left the plastic covering the controls for couple of years, made sure I had dry hands after, for water gets into the push button spaces. Cycles can be varied. Just looking for verification of pump, or if time to purchase a new one. Regards A.
Purchased in at David Jones Retail Stores for $900.
Bad – Bought this machine in 2005. Within 6 months the lid was broken and it started to sound like a jet taking off on the spin cycle. I fixed the lid myself. One month out of warranty the gearbox failed (cost me $100 for the repair man to tell me this and that it wasn't worth fixing). After repeated calls to the manufacturer, they eventually got a repair man to pick it up and replace the gearbox. They said that we had overloaded the machine. When the repair man delivered the machine back to us, he broke the lid again. I don't accept that we overloaded the machine since we had a smaller 5.0kg top loader prior to this that was still going after 15 years (we updated because we needed a bigger washer). We have only been half filling the machine since then which sort of negates the claimed washing capacity. Within another 6 months it became steadily more noisy. It now also has tripped our power circuit breaker recently. Tipped the machine over to find water seems to be leaking onto the lower pulley and spraying out over some electrical connections. It's still working, but the machine has no lid, sounds like a jet and leaks (which is causing an electrical problem). Time for a new machine. It seemed to wash the clothes OK. It has a flimsy lid that broke within 6 months, became very noisy on the spin cycle within 6 months and failed just out of warranty.
