Don't do it! You will regret it – All I can say is I wish I saw these reviews before I brought this crap. Do not I say again Do not even think about getting one! Lasted no even 3 days before grinding noise started and gear box sounded like a noise that should never come from peace of machinery, trying to get a refund. Picked up from smart electrical .com .au
Disgraceful don't buy whirlpool – Something came loose only a few weeks after purchase which was fixed under warranty, now two year laters the piece of junk has stopped again. Now the the gearbox needs replacing. Just rubbish, luckily I kept our old machine that actually cleaned clothes and still with will be reinstalled. What ever you do don't but a whirlpool washer.
Waste of money! – Wasn't even 6 months and the belt fell apart, couldn't get a replacement anywhere in town! When I finally found one on line it cost over $100. And like everyone else the clothes come out dirtier than when they went in! I never got a new belt, bought another washer instead!
Never, I say again Never buy this brand or machine – This machine is a POS. Harsh on clothing. Clothes rarely come out clean. I have had the back off the machine many times to service parts that should last at least 5 years (only lasting 6 months). Near brand new (2 yrs old) and it has gone to gowings! We have now gone for German engineering and bought a Bosch FL Series 8 8.5 kg machine.
Very disappointed – 2 years 6 months old and it has started making an unusual noise and has stopped functioning properly at all. Can't rinse and spin. Won't wash. NOT HAPPY at all. Fortunately I purchased extended warranty and will be chasing that up tomorrow. After reading others reviews tonight, this somehow doesn't surprise me. I'll be chasing it up tomorrow for sure
Worst product ever – No reason to spend time. Terrible from day one and then the electronics started to turn the washer off and had to restart several times. Finally had serviced and had the same problem. Months on finally they have given us a new one. It will be on E-bay tomorrow!
Not a recommended product model (Get the extended warranty) – Had it for 2yrs & 6months, now just as it is out of warranty had to spend $300 to repair as Whirlpool parts are expensive, apparently this is the usual 12 monthly warranty repair that always goes wrong with this particular model as far as the whirlpool recommended repair technician is concerned, a bolt comes loose underneath, and makes a grinding… Read more
noise, damaging the shield underneath, fixed it with an updated part from whirlpool. This has now been rectified on the newer models. And as we have not used the machine much this would of been covered under the warranty and usually happens within the 2 yr warranty period as far as what was discussed to us. Worked fine now, no noise, completed 1 wash it was working great but unfortunately it is now not even starting as no water is entering the machine, had it looked at again and now they tell me that this model is not worth repairing? i refused to pay the $90 call out fee. Unknown problem? If this machine worked i would of been happy to pay the $300 if it lasted another 2 yrs. Now i am out of pocket $300 with no washing machine? If i get more parts fixed i have no guarantee it will last?
I have sent an email to Whirlpool with the issues, let's wait and see if i get contacted? I have always had Whirlpool washing machines in the past the last one lasting over 7 years. Just check reviews before you buy and always get the extended warranty on any brands. A basic model machine will be cheaper to repair,
These machines are now selling for under $570 which is a good price, I don't know why Whirlpool doesn't bump up the price and offer a 5 yr warranty, they would sell more machines as customers will have more trust in the quality of the machine, and if it lasted 7 yrs it would be money well spent. it lasted long enough to fail once the warranty expired. I believe a machine defect
The worst Machine I have ever had – I purchased this two years ago, thinking it was a well known and a trusted brand. From day 1 my wife told me it was not washing correctly, due to our busy lives i dismissed it as possiblly getting aquanted with the machine. It has gotten to the point now where the motor is gone and we are now in the process of waitng for parts to arrive. I dont want it fixed i want my money back please!!!!! The clothese were never really clean
Never again – Put in one sheet and pillow case they came out dirty this is not the first time. Will not clean farm clothes. Sheets get put into a ball and do not wash had dry spots on them. I'm sick of having to wash twice when we are on tank water not efficient. Beeps at the end of the wash.
Ripped off Whirlpool, Never again!!!! – Had my old Whirlpool for over 10 years, all repairs done myself and a good old sturdy machine, thought i was upgrading when I purchased the Cabrio 5700. What a mistake 5 months in claimed warranty on new belt and pulley making loud noise. Now 5 weeks out of warranty and the bloody thing is not spinning clothes dry, they come out ringing wet,… Read more
called up codes E1 and F5. Whirlpool service don't want to know about it and four repair techs don't want a thing to do with the machine. Even the company Whirlpool put me onto won't return my call's. Thought I was buying American quality, but have ended up with [censored word removed] that surely has not been tested for any length of time after manufacture. I want my machine fixed Whirlpool and better yet, my money back!. Everything bad written by all these people is true, from the powder residue to the terrible Whirlpool service. Don't buy anything whirlpool people after this never again, I'm not happy, look out social media. It looked sturdy
Whirlpool 6awtw5700xw Appalling model – Worst washing machine ever! Does not wash well even if laundry is washed several times. Works intermittently, needs to be reset 8/10 cycles. Water does not cover washing and is not manually adjustable so some clothes come out with dry spots not having been washed at all. You get better results hand-washing, It is by far the worst machine I have… Read more
ever owned, its performance is appalling. Whirlpool need to ditch this model and come up with a machine that works for its intended purpose. Do not buy this machine, you are throwing away your money There are not any pros about this machine apart from the fact it looks nice but that doesn't wash clothes Appalling preformance leaves clothes dirty, has multiple problems & does not work for intended purpose
Worst Whirlpool Washing Machine I have ever owned – Its the worst washing machine I have ever used, leaving clothes dirty, with washing powder residue and stains, often finishing with clothes still sitting in dirty water, not rinsed. Sometimes it finishes with sheet or towel wrapped over the whole load, resulting in the clothes trapped inside not rinsed properly. Nothing Inefficient washing and rinsing. Long cycle. If it stopped, could not sort and continue.
Doesn't wash the clothes, makes the clothes worse – This washing machine is terrible. It leaves washing detergent residue, my clothes look more dirtier after the wash. I can see stains on my clothes. I was told by whirlpool to only use HE detergent. I bought HE detergent but the result was same. The washing machine has all the good features and options but doesn't do it's primary job of washing. I could wash my blanket, quilt etc doesn't wash;
I agree worst washing machine leaves clothes with detergent residue and dirt on them - would not buy another whirlpool washing machine ever

Worst nightmare – Started playing up after 2 months I bought it. Don't wash properl, gear box grinding loud during wash..Very dissatisfied with this product. now want refund back!! Clothes stinks if left in the machine for 4 hours after being washed. Always have 2 reset wash cycle after every wash.. would never recommend this machine to anyone. 8kg to suit large family. Loud grinding noise.., washing get stinks
Worst Top Loader Washing Machine! – Purchased at Kambos, Osborne Park, Western Australia I just bought the Cabrio Whilpool Washing Machine top loader on 23/3/13. The detergent doesn't disperse evenly and stains the clothes, the product specification states that lint will run off the drain, but appears on the garments especially dark coloured clothing and when I put through a load… Read more
of bedsheets, pillow covers, the entire wash get pulled/rolled into a big balloon inside the fitted sheet. When I took out my washing, it looked like a big balloon sitting on top of the washplate! I have no idea whether the sheets were washed properly.
I am now trying to get a full refund for my purchase and have written to Whirlpool. It wasn't a good buy for A$962.10 (with extended warranty)!
Do not buy – Major disappointment! Detergent won't disperse evenly unless you choose high water use wash (bulky items) every use. Machine stopped after 6 months use. Whirlpool customer service couldn't care less! After a month of complaints all written and verbal, contacted store and they arranged complete credit. Do not waste your money. I will never buy a whirlpool brand again, and am more than willing to dissuade others from make the same mistake as us.
I agree, I bought one in September is only March and have had the service people come twice , first… Read more
Terrible!! – The worst machine I've ever had. In less than 6 months, the gear box went, and now am waiting for repairs because it won't work at all - probably the electronics. I have followed all instructions in the service manual-- the right detergent etc. Never cleans properly. Very noisy, takes an approx an hour for most cycles,ALWAYS needs an extra rinse… Read more
which uses more water ( the main reason I choose this machine was because we could save water) . Would not recommend it to anyone. Why do they keep making such rubbish?
Expensive, noisy, won't clean properly, broken down twice in the first year
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. I thought I would have been safe with whirlpool, but no. … Read more
I want my money back! – When faced with the dillema of repairing or replacing our old Kleenmaid washing machine we opted for replacing it with a new whirlpool biggest mistake ever! At first we thought it might be something we were doing so we tried several different brands of liquid. We tried different cycles...an extra rinse cycle. But nothing we did worked. This… Read more
washing machine does not clean my clothes.
Our clothes, especially dark coloured ones, come out of this machine dirtier than when they went in. They are covered in lint that wont budge even after using the extra rinse cycle. What a waste of money. I will be contacting whirlpool ASAP. I want a refund.
It does not do what it says it will do.

Worst washing machine ever – Like the others say - leaves soap on your clothes, dark clothes come out with fluff on them, you have to set the machine for heavy soil wash just to get enough water in it, always have to set for an extra rinse, which defeats the purpose of water efficiency. I have had a front loader in the past and it used very little water, so this should be… Read more

Worst machine I have ever owned – Doesn't wash clothes properly, leave soap scum on clothes, very disappointed, this machine cost a lot of money & for it to be like this is not right. Always have to rewash clothes or add another rinse cycle. I have just finished a load of sheets which took 70 minutes first time but then did not spin properly so had to repeat spin for another 15 minutes, and to top it off sheets were still dirty & had soap residue on them. What's the go??
Don't waste your Money – I purchased my Whirlpool after reading a lot about how reliable they were, because they had a good name and I liked the idea of a heavy duty metal cased machine. I purchased mine in August 2011. My machine lasted just over 12 months before it started to make a horrible banging noise, and then stopped spinning water out of the clothes all… Read more
together. I had the serviceman call who told me that the gearbox had completely gone and it wasn't economical to replace, so after waiting another 3 weeks, I had my machine replaced with a new one the same make and model. At this stage warning bells should have rang because also on the back of the trailer of the service man was a machine the same make and model as mine, also just having been replaced. So my new machine goes in, three weeks later it has started to make a horrible banging noise and a horribly loud stretching noise when it is washing. It is continually filling with water on a bulky load cycle and just making this terrible noise. Needless to say I am ringing first thing tomorrow to get another service call, this time the service call will be to totally take this piece of [censored word removed] away and give me my money back. The so called wash feature on this machine, leaves soap residue on your clothes so if you are doing a dark load, I have to do an extra rinse just to make sure all the soap is rinsed out. I am really disappointed with my Whirlpool and whatever they did between the old models and the new models certainly wasn't any good because they are useless. Needless to say I think I will be going back to the good old Fisher and Paykel, my previous one lasted for 13 years and I only got rid of it because I didn't want to have to spend money on it servicing it and I was moving into a new home and wanted a new appliance. I know that my Fisher and Paykel, which I gave away is still going strong now being 15 years old...if only I would have kept it!
Noisy, gear box goes in them quickly, leaves soap residue on your clothes needing to do extra rinses
Yes
Time will tell – I've only just bought this machine and have done a few loads of darks, whites, towels and bulky items. So far it's worked like a charm. Clothes are cleaned thoroughly. There's not much wrinkling despite the fact that I used the stronger spin cycle. I am very happy so far. Time will tell. Fingers crossed. Lots of cleaning options. Doesn't use much water. Show reply

Yet another offending piece of technology – I bought this machine late last year because our old machine broke and it was too expensive to fix. I chose Whirlpool because of the name and the machine has an outside metal casing, creating the impression of quality - how wrong I have been. The water saving feature also appealed to me. Within six weeks the machine broke - it made a grinding… Read more
noise and it turned out that the drive shaft was not being properly engaged as the pin is plastic and needed to be glued in place. The repair agent said this is a common problem with this machine and he knew exactly what it was and it took him only 15 minutes to fix - I then had to wait another day for the glue to dry. I was not filled with a whole lot of confidence knowing that something within the inner workings of my washing machine is being held together by glue. Apparently the inner workings are plastic. Whirlpool should have saved the money on the outside metal casing and made the inner workings plastic.
The same problem has now occurred again (eight months later). Once again I have to wait for the repair agent. I am using the machine regardless because if it breaks completely Whirlpool can replace it.
I have the same problems with soap residue and the machine not washing the clothes properly. Somewhere along the line I will have to buy another machine, but never again another Whirlpool.
The lock feature is obviously part of the machine to protect the dumb and stupid, and is probably its most annoying feature - I wish it was pointed out to me before purchase. The idea of a top loader is that you can interrupt the machine and add some more clothes to it. If you are silly enough to stick your head in it while it is running or has water in it then you deserve everything that happens to you.
I also do not have anything nice to say about the Warranty Service and the less said the better.
Locking feature. Poor quality and workmanship and warranty service. Broken down twice in less than 12 months.
Words fail me – Bought this machine 6mths ago & have been dissapointed from day one. Ten days before Xmas & my old machine needed a new timer, I loved this machine but decided $350 was too much to invest in a 14yo machine - bad choice. This being a busy time of year for me, I rushed out to buy another. I chose this machine because the external casing was all… Read more
metal & it boasted water saving benefits.
I did not realise that "Low-Water Washer" means insufficient water to clean/rinse clothing.
Despite using the recommended liquid detergent, soap residue is left on clothing every wash, making it necessary to use the extra rinse option and/or put clothing through another rinse/spin cycle after the wash. This renders any energy & water saving benefits useless. I now use half the recommended amount of detergent to reduce the amount of residue, this of course often leaves clothing dirty. Another anoying feature is that if the cycle is interupted for any reason (like the machine being thrown off balance during the spin cycle, & this happens often) then expect additional time to be added to the cycle upon restart.
Sadly, I have found the Warranty Service matches the quality of the machine. I wish I had done my research before I made my purchase, I work full time & have a family & I don't have time to re-wash clothing. I have never written a review about anything before, but I feel so strongly about this that I want to warn everyone. I now have to bite the bullet & buy another machine.
Does not clean clothing, does not rinse clothing. Bad warranty service.
i have the same problem i would never get another whirlpool
Worst machine I have ever owned – I got this machine to replace my front loader through warranty. It worked ok for the first week then things started to go wrong. The problems started with soap podwer residue and lint being left on the clothes or clothes still being dirty or coming out dirtier than when they went in, so I switched to liquid which has helped with the soap… Read more
residue but no the lint. Let me just tell you that there is no line filter on this machine at all. I have had to rewash or rinse clothes anywhere from 2-4 times after being washed to get the lint off them.
This machine is meant to be a high efficient water saving machine. So far this machine has not saved me water, if anything it is using more water seems I have to rinse clothes so many times to get them clean.
The second issue I have is that when I try to do a full load of towels or blankets the machine will stop half way through without rinsing or spinning them. I then have to empty half the machine into a bucket and start all over again. So far to do a full cycle of towels I have had to do half loads. With blankets it is a bit impossible to do a half load with only one queen size blaneket in the machine but I have had to adjust it a few times as the machine will stop.
Last of all and probably the one that has made me write this review is that one of the lights on the water temp control has stopped working after just one month of use. When a brand new machine starts to get faults like that after just one months use just shows that the machine it self is a lemon or the design needs a rethink. I like how it looks, how easy it is to use and the large tub but thats about it. too many to list
Worst machine, didn't last more than a year
Hard to write any positives about this product especially when it breaks down within 1st 3 months – Dosn't clean clothes properly, liquid detergent stains unless on the longest wash cycles (so much for the water/energy efficiency. Clothes come out heavily wrinkled and often have to run through the cycle again to remove liquid detergent stains. The lid lock feature is the bigest pain in the *ear as once the cycle has started it restarts if you… Read more
need to interupt to add anything. Bought 28/04/12 - threw a drive belt and not working 18/07/12 - all plastic material pulleys on the drive - no metal so life design life is questionable
Not that bad – I purchased this machine about a month ago because our old Whirlpool, which was 12+ years old, finally died. Despite all the negative reviews I read, I still decided to give it a go and take into account some of the problems people said they had. My husband is a farmer, so his work clothes are really dirty. Instead of loading everything I can… Read more
into the machine, I only put 3 shirts, 2 pants and maybe some socks in at one time. They seem to come out clean, but I do have to plan my loads properly. I'm not happy that this is not water efficient, but it ensures I get clean clothes.
Having the lock is annoying, but you can add things to the machine once started. However, I found that interrupting the program does confuse the poor machine, so I try not to.
The programs are really, really long and there is no way to tell where it is in the cycle. This is also annoying. At first I would think the machine had stopped working, but apparently patience is the key.
Many complaints were that clothes got tangled. I haven't had this happen, but I am careful to loosely drop things in one at a time.
I do enjoy the ability to wash doona, blankets and other bulky items. They seem to come out fine.
Overall, it is not a fabulous machine. But then again I haven't experienced any technical glitches yet. I would prefer a more manual machine like our old Whirlpool where I could spin the dial to the setting I wanted and go from there, or stop the machine mid-cycle and know I could start it up again without problems. Ergonomically I hate front loaders, but I may need to go that way if this one fails me. The lack of a centre column To computerised.
I forgot to update this review but about a month after buying it the washing machine broke. It… Read more
Worst Washing Machine Ever – Worst machine in 50 years of washing - I bought this machine as it was a water saver, looked to be sturdy (no plastics). It doesn't get the clothes clean even after 3 washes (that's not water efficient), leaves lint and detergent on the clothes. I even changed to liquid detergent with not much of an improvement. Purchased at Retravision for $979… Read more
I expected it to be better than a cheaper brand.
Sometimes it doesn't go past the wash cycle, the normal cycle takes nearly 2 hours!!!! I am a busy working Mum and don't have the time to be rewashing clothes, making sure it goes through the whole cycle etc. Very disappointed. Would never buy another one. Wish I had read the reviews on line first. It is a good strong machine with minimal plastic Everything that I mentioned above

I agree 100% our machine is only 8 months old and has not done a decent wash... leaves washing with detergent still on it... Not happy!
