Multiple repairs needed – During first 6 months, the circuit board blew, repaired under warranty. Buttons have always been hard to press. Outside of warranty, the rubber seal tore, and the circuit board blew again. I have treated this machine very well, and it has still let me down on several occasions. Not spending any more money on it. Show details
Lasted 6 years – I got about 6 and a half years out of this machine - using it on average about twice a week. Judging by some of the reviews here - I got lucky! It gets 3 stars because in those 6 or so years its never failed us and did a reasonable job. However, the electronics board has blown. Quoted $400 to fix, plus about $100 in labour so I am already half way to a nice new reliable made in Germany Bosch - which I am about to purchase now. Show details
Never buy Whirlpool – Never buy Whirlpool, there is no technical support any longer, ring them and find out for yourself if you don't believe us! Machine is in excellent condition, card died, we are appliance specialists and bought a new replacement card and the door lock to be sure. Powers up and does nothing further. We tried ever continuity test we can aswell,… Read more

Great First machine – Bought my very first washing machine 'second hand', from Casey Auctions. It wasn't boxed and had minor fonts On it. I wasn't bothered for the Cheap price. I love the variety selection of wash cycles, temp, spin, timer etc. However, mainly use 'daily load'. My Husband is a carpenter & machanic, so clothing from him has concrete, stones,… Read more
heavy dirt and grease/grime. Change of temp function helps and clothes come out smelling wonderful and clean as best be. Hasn't let me down yet!
Unfortunately, I didn't realise how important it is to leave the door open when not in-use. I now have mould On the rubber which I would like to replace. Can't get the mould Off it.
It's never smelt or let me down and I have had it 2 years since 2011. Only just cleaned it out with bicarbonate soda and vinegar in soap drawer. Wiped out bowl and rubber best I could with mould. Like New inside, except for rubber!
Bargain!!! Optional Functions, reliable, water efficiency loudness of spin cycle
I must be lucky! – This front loader was a replacement for a Whirlpool top loader that I purchased in May 2012. That machine broke after about a month. The Whirlpool rep was really helpful and talked me into trying a front loader. I read the reviews here and told her that this machine was getting a flogging, but I was in a situation that if I didn't accept her swap,… Read more · 1
I was going to have to hand wash my clothes!
So far the WFE1485BD has been faultless and has converted me to front loading machines. I wash mainly my husband's dirty farm work clothes and they always come out way cleaner than they did with the top loading machine. It handles delicates well too.
I suspect that I may eventually have trouble with the door, but otherwise I really like this machine. I hope by posting this review I'm not jinxed.... Does the job. Door latch may become a problem.
Very happy so far!! – I purchased this washing machine just before xmas 2011. its been great so far. (touch wood) i am loving the size capacity, and i do much less wash loads now. its easy to just do the daily normal wash which takes 60 mins, you can choose the temp of the water and spin speed before you wash. i usually always have the 1400 rpm speed and the clothes… Read more
come out nice and some items even almost dry! cuts the amount of time it takes to dry clothes inside or outside. it washes the clothes nicely, they always come out clean and smelling nice. when the machine spins at 1400rpm it is quite loud but i think that is normal when spinning at such high speed. i had a 1200 rpm machine previously and it was just as loud. you cant expect it to be silent when spinning. my machine is on level tiles which is really important to have a level floor otherwise the machine will move and knock around and be even louder (this would happen with any machine on unlevel ground) so this machine is 9 mths old and so far it has been a great buy for me. hopefully, fingers crossed, it continues to impress for many years to come.. Energy efficient, big capacity, 1400 rpm

Waste of money and time – Within week of purchase produced a strong odd smell and shaking getting worse. It took three engineer visits, investing in rubber footing and underpinning beams under the house for the engineers to find that the machine was actually missing a part! We tried getting a refund as we could feel this was a bad buy but they didn't let us. It worked… Read more
really well I must say until just out of its 2 year warranty when the rubber ring came loose and tore. Only weeks later the machine started squeaking during cycle and enormous rattle and banging during spinning. Advice from engineer was that bearing was gone and to replace that we would probably need to replace a lot more as other parts would have been damaged in the process. It would end up costing more than buying a new machine. The repair company said they would never recommend Whirlpool because of the problems they've had with this brand. Apparently Whirlpool has mostly left Australia and what's left is owned by an Indian company who clearly are not interested in helping out.
It is a very bad machine – it is actually a very very bad washing machine. It is noisy and leaked. I first bought this machine a few months ago and it wasn't working and they ended up replacing it. The new one they sent us is working, however it is very noisy and it leaked all the time! Not very happy at all , will never buy Whirlpool again!
Quality of Whirlpool WFE1485BD (Made in Italy)? – It has just two months past its 5 year extended warranty and then not be able to power on. Spent $99 call out for repair and the estimated repair parts cost will be $285 to replace the PCB control board and $700-$800 to replace the noisy bearing. The cost of repair (parts + labor) is much higher than to buy a new one.

Don't buy it….. Bad machine – I guess they don't make things like they used to huh…?? In the first 12mths we have had the whole drum replaced, and we are only a family of 3. This machine, washes well….but its just a piece of crap. It cost me over $500 for the labour (parts were covered under warranty) - now 3mths later - we have just been told to buy a new machine…its not… Read more
worth fixing. It's now flashing F12 (red letters) needs a new heating element and a board…what a joke right? Our last machine last us 10yrs (not Whirlpool)….I guess we change brands!
Poor Poor Quality! – I am an appliance repairer for over 20 years. The quality of this junk coming into this country is absolutley horrifying,Near to no quality control anymore,I was called out to replace an oven door where the glass just exploded in the middle of the night,It wasn't even hot.Cheap brand from a major hardware store,Imported of course.I didn't repair it… Read more
because there was such a back log of warranty claims awaiting knew doors that the customer just replaced the whole oven, good thing there baby wasn't anywhere near it when it exploded!
Back to the whirlpool washer.I was called out to look at one a few months back.It had a dead PCB board.
After replacing the computer board it had error F23,so i replaced pressure sensor then further on the door lock, everything else tested fine such as heating element & circuit, tested the motor..in the end i gave up,sent back the board for a credit & kept everthing else. The board cost me at trade $210 AUD.I waived my call out fee & labour.Spare parts service is terrible even for me in the trade,& the people are very rude at Castel Electronics,Melbourne who are the w-pool spares people.
Great washing machine... when it works – Very dissatisfied with it. Bought it from Harvey Norman with 3 year warranty. Had the motor replaced twice under warranty, then after three years front bearing went out. Now, when it spins up to 1400 RPM it sound like a fighter jet is taking off in my laundry room. Repairman said $400 to replace the front bearing, because parts are not expensive but it's very time consuming. Gonna go for LG next time.
I can't believe they sell this product – Bought this machine nearly 4 years ago and from day dot we have had problems. It actually finally died yesterday after flooding my laundry! We have had this machine fixed 3 times in 4 years which pretty much cost the same amount as a new machine. I would highly recommend going with another brand and in fact I would never buy a product from… Read more
whirlpool ever again. The customer service department was so rude and didn't care at all. Called them a number of times, letters written etc and all I got was ' sorry we cant help you'. Obviously there products are bad. Go with another brand and save yourself some money!!!

Terrible...just Terrible – Where do I start? We've had constant problems with this machine. Ours has just died mid-cycle and flooded our laundry and filling the air with smoke. The problems started about 10 months after we bought it. We've spent a few hundred dollars on service calls (Whirlpool customer service is almost non existent). For 4 years we have put up with up… Read more
with the front door leaking, the F13 errors requiring us to bang the door to get our clothes out, the mould that sits in the door that makes our clothes smell and the house shaking due to the spin cycle.
I would never ever by anything from Whirlpool and would suggest to everyone I know to stay well clear of any of their appliances. I'm kind of glad it decided to cark it as I can now go and get a decent machine.
Poor machine and poor customer service – We bought our washing machine 4 years ago. In the first week all 3 fins in the drum snapped off! Contacted whirlpool who were poor in there customer service response. After my 3rd phone call to them, they advised that i contact the local repair company to send someone out. Followed this advice and 4 weeks later a repairman came out said it could… Read more
be fixed but there was a further wait time on parts! In total, our machine had only been used 4 times before it broke and we then waited 4 weeks to find out that there would be a further wait. Contacted Harvey Norman who we purchased from, explained our problem, they came out in less than a week with a new replacement machine.
New machine, still not great on performance, very noisy. Will not be purchasing another Whirlpool washing machine. 4 years later still not that impressed with the machine, particularly since it has started sounding much loader in washing cycles and recently gave me error on two washes in a row, which meant draining the machine e.g. flooding the laundry.
Not confident in the machine after 4 years and anxiously awaiting the next error and black screen on death.
Never buy Whirlpool! – Bought this washing machine 2.5 years ago and as per the repairman who looked at it for us, its basically shagged. Our issues started from the start when it would vibrate furiously at the end of the cycle and be so noisy you could not hear the TV 20 metres away. Then the belt broke and we had to wait nearly two months for a replacement belt. … Read more
Still wouldn't work so got the repairman out and he's also said the drum is stuffed! Not good enough and very disappointed with our first front load purchase. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again. I know things don't last as long as they use to but 2.5 years is ridiculous!
Good performance but terrible build quality – I thought washing machine these days are low tech products, easy to manufacture and easy to make them last. I was using a dated second hand washer for over 5 years without any trouble. This Whirlpool product, however, really disappoint me after serving exactly 4 years. Same problem with everyone else, died, and cannot pump any power in to make… Read more

I do feel happy about its cleaning performance but I care more about if I can have a RELIABLE washer. Guess I should stay away from Whirlpool washer next time.
Biggest peice of junk ever onm my 3 machine – Had nothing but issues from knew in the first 4 months had the first two washing machines replaced buy Whirlpool. It is an 8kg 6 sens and now on the 3 one it is now two years old and got more problem's never will buy this again.
Just Died no lights – No lights, nothing!! Have power to the pcb assy but no one home.! Just payed $100 for call out and 5 min work for him to tell me its going to cost me $300 for a new pcb assy and fitting. Total cost at lest $500 plus, he suggested get a new machine. And he was the cheapest repairer, the Whirlpool rep wanted $115 and $45 for every 15mins. I… Read more
think that's called robbery!!! I will get a new machine but it won't be a whirlpool [machine only 18mths old]

Great washing machine untill – We have owned this washing machine for over 5yrs now and this washing machine has served this family well, averaging 2 loads a day some times three. The clothes do come out nice and clean, we use less washing powder, and it is gentle on the clothes I also noticed that the clothes colour does not fade as quickly as the other machines I have… Read more
owned.
Now here is the bad points, for the last 12 months we have been having fault codes come up on the display panel and when this happens the machine goes into lock down mode, meaning you can not open the door at all, your clothes are now hostage to a temperamental machine having a hissy fit.
This use to occur maybe once a month but now it is more frequent and using the trouble shoot options is pointless, my husband has resorted to banging the top of the machine and I know it is not right but it does work.
Secondly the machine is loud when it's running at 1400 spin dry, it sounds like a jet engine. I live in a small town and my whole block knows when I'm washing.
My draw to buying this was that I wanted a front loader, use less water and be cost effective. It ticked all the boxes with cash back and a 12month supply of washing powder my local dealers promotion it was bargain I could not walk past.
In conclusion, it has been a great machine, it does work hard for this family, clothes come out nice, it is just a shame that yet again things that are made today are not made to last and our hard earned money has gone down the drain. Execellent sales deal at the time, uses less water and washing powder Not built to last, 5yrs into owning it, it starts to fail, very dissappointing
Just died – We've had the model for just on three years, never really lived up to expectations always something, door not sealing, timer not going, buttons all faded on front so kids get confussed on what to do. It hard enought just getting them to do washing, but then its difficult to operate with controls rubbing off too easily. Now just died. inexpensive - cash back offer attracted us and a friend to buy the machine sometimes door prevented operation
Not a great machine. Would not buy another Whirlpool – I have just had a technician out,the third time in 2 and 1/2 years, and this time is can't be fixed. The motor and bearings and timer have gone, and I now have to get a new one. Very unreliable. I have 2 young children, and wash every day, and am again without a machine machine. I got exceptional results from my wash, and I Really loved the 95… Read more
degrees wash that I mainly used on whites. The machine was quiet, and very easy to operate. The timer broke down 3 times, so had many weeks without a washing machine over the 2 1/2 years I had it, and with 2 small children, the washing piled up quickly. In the end I had to use family and neighbours to do it.

Worst purchase EVER !! – We only purchase this machine 6 months ago when we first open it the drum was wet I wondered if it was a recondition model ?? We purchased mainly because it was on sale now totally regretted. It was noisy to start with but washes ok but last week started play up and not draining water and just stop 4/5 times during one single cycle ! Now waiting… Read more
to get fix under warranty then donating to someone. Totally would not recommend this washing machine to anyone. The Customer Service was helpful and did get repairer to contact me with 24 hrs. Noisy and just pure bad product design
Terrible machine died after warranty expired, leaked, noisy, bad CS – Terrible ... Called when machine just completely went dead suddenly days after warranty expired. Whirlpool gave terrible CS regarding repair. Then it cost us $300 to repair after only 18 months! Clothes were not washed well, it leaked, it was noisy, occasionally marked the clothing ! Terrible all round! Don't buy this machine! Broke down, leaked, bad customer service, washed clothes very poorly!
Unreliable washer – I think the 2 major things I look for in a washing machine is that it washes clothes competently and that it is reliable, don't need anything else fancy. Reliability is an issue with this machine, the electronic board has gone haywire 3 times in 3 years and required replacement (No electronic board = washing doesn't work at all). Other than that,… Read more
it washes clothes fine, a bit noisey if you're living in an apartment. The reason, I give this 1 star instead of 2 or 3 is that I'm comparing this experience to my old washer which went for 25 years+ with no issue at all. Maybe things aren't built like the old days. If not for warranty, the board would've cost $200-250 to replace each time, I'm dreading the future with this machine. Large capacity washer Reliability is poor, noisey.
Not Happy – 15 months old and in under warranty 3 times!! This last time I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a part. Would never buy again!! Shop I purchased from is hopeless - never call back and always have excuse - never go back to that shop especially since also purchased a fridge that was not working from delivery! Do Not buy from Sunshine Coast Washers & Fridges!!!!!!
Lasted just 13 months. Don't bother !! – Lasted 13 months just out of warranty shock horror. Very loud on spins and then knocks like something from a horror movie. Do not buy one of these I paid a fortune for something I thought would last at least 6 years. 13 months please don't bother. Don't get me wrong it was great the first 6 months that is all. The first 6 months Lasted 13 months very noisy
How can it just die over night????? – Used my machine 2 days ago and now its dead, no power nothing, cant believe this machine can die considering it was a replacement. The first machine lasted less than 12 months. This machine had been working great for approximately 18months until today, out of no where it just died - has anyone else had this problem and or know why this happens. … Read more
I phoned Whirlpool service/support, I ended up speaking with a lady based in the Philippines who was of no use what so ever. I am sure it will end up costing too much to fix and I'm going to be up for the cost of a new machine - it wont be a whirlpool based on the poor service I received from them today

Shake, rattle and Roll! – Be warned - this maachine is belt drive, not direct drive like most machines today (and its predecessor Whirlpool model). I did my research and couldn't find any reference to it being belt or direct drive so I assumed it was a modern engineering design. WRONG. As reported by everyone, it sounds horrendous during the spin cycle. No wonder the… Read more
bearings give up in short order. I sold mine at aa bargain basement price just to be rid of it. It did wash the clothes OK, but most maachines today do. It was cold water inlet only, meaning that you can't save on off-peak hot water usage. The specs on the Whirlpool website said that it had the pressure-relief tap hoses, but it doesn't. Whirlpool (non) Help Desk simply said "bad luck" when I contacted them about this false advertising. The model that this replaced was great and had all the modern features expected. This was a complete dud - why Whirlpool changed to this model is a mystery? I note that Whirlpool Australia has only a very few nodels on the market now - I suspect they are exiting from the game due to the bad press they are getting. Does wash clothes. Belt drive therefore ibcredibly noisy.
Whirlpool?????? – Worst decision we ever made and will never buy a whirlpool appliance again, machine kept breaking down and could get no satisfaction from whirlpool, they even hung up on me discussing THEIR product over the phone.even now I have been waiting over 2 weeks to get a replacement part just to get the machine working again until it breaks down again I guess. Nothing Kept breaking down.
Stay away from Whirlpool – As a fitter who repairs washing machines, fridges, etc, I warn all potential buyers to stay well away from all Whirlpool products. Whirlpool manufacture inferior products and are difficult to deal with when claiming or honoring warranty related issues - for example, very long lead times on parts, etc. I am sick and tired with being made out as… Read more

like a plane taking off in my laundry. Rang whirlpool again after arguing with them for about 2 weeks I had my machine replaced not repaired. Guess what! This machine lasted 8 months before I had to call them again for the same problem. The guy came out and told me this is an issue with these machines. Waited again and argued with whirlpool again and waited 3 weeks for another replacement machine. Lucky it has a 2 year warranty. Well to my surprise about 6 months with this machine and only about 1 month left on my warranty because whirlpool don't extend your warranty every time they give a new machine the same thing happened again noise so loud that I used to have to pick times when to wash otherwise it was that loud you could not be near the machine it happened again. Called them with the same problem they sent somebody out who told me this was normal. I said to him so you would have this machine in your house as loud as this and you would consider this normal. His answer was "I am not saying I agree with the loudness but it is normal" he said screaming over the machine. So with only a month on my warranty my machine is normal and I had four replacement machines before that. I would never buy a whirlpool machine ever again the service was terrible and I am waiting to replace my machine
Very very loud
