Whirlpool WFS1073CD / WFS1273BD has been discontinued. See the Best Washing Machines.
2 Mark  · Disappointed – 5 year old machine stopped mid cycle no power, not sure if it's worth repairing. Disappointed no interest in buying another whirlpool.
4 Leslie M  · Had for around 5 years – It took me 5 years to break the water pump. I am just trying to find a new one now.
1 Not Happy  · Poor quality – Main PCB dead after 3,5 years. We are only 2 adults so this machine has done less than 400 washes. Will never by a Whirlpool product again.

Great machine – Have had this machine for 5+ years and have had no issues until now. Washes great, great water saver, reliable (for me anway). Error F06 showing on screen. Hopefully an easy fix. Would buy the same model if it wasn’t discontinued. Would still go with a front loader if and when the time comes.  Show details

Whirlpool very disappointed – Whirlpool this front loader washing machine is very noisy, doesn’t wash properly, very noisy, if something goes through the wash it’s hard to get out of the drain, it’s doesn't spin well, clothes are still dripping. Really disappointed with this machine. Was so excited to get a front loader, I would have been better off staying with my top loader.  Show details

Excellent washer! – It is servicing the family of two (under 6 years) where it is running for 4 days per week. Both it back in 2010, still runs without any issue. Now throwing F06 error which is a sigh to replace carbon brushes. Hopefully the machine will work another few years before replacement!  Show details

Does the job – I've had the WFS1273BD front loading washing machine and its worked flawlessly for the time I've had it, which now is going on 4 years. I picked this up going on recommendation of the floor sales staff and went with the additional 5yrs warranty. I've also moved three times in that period and that hasn't upset the machine at all. Options wise it… Read more ·  1

was fine, it definitely washes alot better than a top loader. Good price, reliable, washes the clothes well, reasonably quiet. None so far.

Disappointed! – This whirlpool front loader washing machine is very noisy, it doesn't wash clothes properly. The clothes don't spin well and take all day to dry. Within 6 months of buying I needed a new motherboard. Its a very over rated machine for such a well known brand. Quite disappointing front loader to be honest.  Show details

WORST MACHINE EVER!! AND A TOTAL RUST BUCKET!!! – Pump keeps getting blocked and red light comes on, clean filter so many times, it keeps happening mid cycle so we cant finish the cycle. Aside from that, it's a total rust bucket. Only 4 years old and there are 4 really large areas of rust. We dont live near the beach and have never had a machine rust like this. Our previous machine was a Simpson and lasted 28 years. This one only 4, will never buy a Whirlpool again  Show details

Worked, but broke a couple of times (lasted six years) – The washing machine had worked well for 3 and bit years until the PCB (computer board) packed up. Washed clothes OK, no noticeable wear out of clothes. Does beep at the end of its cycle and was neither quiet or loud, its got to wash! Short wash works well as does the hand wash, though needs to put through a spin to get rid of the extra water. … Read more

So after the warranty ran out (3 years) so did the PCB, Whirlpool were having none of it, even though there are multiple reviews of similar issues, clearly a fault with the machine. We ended up getting the PCB replaced, cost us half the cost of the machine which was north of 600 dollars. Also had the turn nob/dial replaced as was about to shear off, unbeknownst to us. The menders said that the PCPB is the first thing to go, and happens a lot.

The machine has worked for another two years and it seems there is now a leak. Am trying to find if it is from the drum or some other feature which I can tighten.

It seems we will need to purchase a new washing machine, safe to say it will not be a Whirlpool

Absolute rubbish . Printed circuit made overseas , gave up working . Could be a fire risk , . While – Will purchase a proven front loader washing machine from here on. Printed circuit on this model fused and replacement is too expensive . While it was working it was good but we need a reliable and cost efffective machine as we are pensioners and this machine hasn't done the right thing for us .  Show details

Disappointed but Whirlpool came to the party – I was really happy with this machine until the power issue others have reported. Just stopped a couple months ago. After being told by local repairer that parts might be available this July, i rang Whirlpools customer service line to check. Seems no more parts being made. Whirlpool have offered me a goodwill pro rata payment which will come in… Read more

handy for new machine. And they are organising to take old machine away. I think this is excellent customer service and i commend them for that.

Stopped Dead Part Way Through Cycle. Dead PCB, Not Happy Jan! – Same issue as a lot of you guys. My WFS1073CD worked well but only lasted 5 years (almost). I'm lucky I took out an extended warranty that covered up to 5 years so I was able to replace it in the last month of warranty with something else by adding only about a hundred dollars but the issue is the washing machine is crap. Less that 5 years of… Read more

light use. Only used a few times on weekends (2 people). Found a replacement PCB online [link removed] but the part is almost what I paid for the machine. I paid $400 on special from "the good guys" and a new PCB is $350.

For this many people to be having the same issue is almost a cause for a class action against Whirlpool.

Painful on the hip pocket – We have spent as much on repairs as the original cost. Now it stops midway through the last cycle while there is 24 seconds left. So rebooting is required!!! We are pensioners and have the time?? But is this a nice way to spend the day??!!

Unhappy Customer – The same as everyone else. 4 years is all this machine gave us. It just stopped working no power going to it. Technician said it was the mother board. $380 to fix plus call out fee. So disappointed Whirlpool. I thought I was buying a good brand. For so many people to have the same problem with their machine, Whirlpool should have done a recall! I refuse to buy Whirlpool again!

So disappointed – Had this FL for just over 4yrs.. Has always worked fine until 2 days ago when all of a sudden in the middle of a load it died... No power or anything, I tried different power point and all, nothing happened!! I washed maybe twice a week depending on work and kids. I have a family and we'd a washing machine.. For this to happen is just not acceptable at all whirlpool! This model should of been recalled years ago!! Not happy at all!!!

Waste of money – Machine washed clothes satisfactorily. I didn't like how power stayed on until you turned the knob to off, most machines turn themselves off after completing the washing. It also was incredibly noisy during spin cycle, sounded like a space shuttle launching. But the worst thing of all was that it died after 4 years of light use. Stopped suddenly in the middle of a wash, no power, would not turn back on. I will never buy whirlpool again.

Stop in the middle of wash – We bought this machine five years ago. Initially we only used once a week and later increased to two or three times a week. It dead yesterday in the middle of a wash. Initially thought that the power was off. After checking the meter and tried to plug the machine into a different power point, we realised that the machine has gone. Very disappointed.

First and last purchase of a Whirlpool – Rust at top of front panel started appearing at about 2 years and now covers top and bottom of front panel. We live in Brisbane so not a fir way away from the sea air. Power has died today, presumably the power board. Will be dumping this machine today and buying another front loader - definitely not a whirlpool. Electrolux EWH1074 I bought for beach house at same time as Whirlpool is going fine so will probably look at this brand.

Absoluetly Disgusted, no two ways about it! Appauling, designed obsolescence & raqueteering for Part – Like many others posting before me, my machine just died. Went to turn it on one day and ...nothing... nada... zip...no indicator lights. Mine, also just over 2 1/2 years old (and out of extended warranty) with the same control unit/ circuit board / timer problem - fried and will not function. I called Whirlpool to ask if there was an inherent… Read more

issue with the machine or it's components... and was advised that if wasn't in warranty, they could not help.

I live in a rural area and to get the machine looked at, would have to drive over 100kms, and paid $85 for them just to look at it... or to have someone come and look at it in-house was going to be in excess of $185, and then the parts required were quoted at $250 to $300.

Loved the machine WFS1073CD nearly always used it on quick wash and was pleased with the wash it did unfortunately it just died. Obviously from finding and reading all of these posts, a modification should have been made & new parts made available by the company - as it is evidently a common problem. Like others, if this hadn't happened.... I would have given it 5 stars.

Not Happy, Jan! Seriously, a great machine, until it just stopped working - for no apparent reason! Never had a problem with it previously. Obviously Faulty Units, Poor Customer Service, Insane Price for Parts to repair... or have to dump it in landfill.

DISAPPOINTMENT – Not 4 years old just died this week half way thru a cycle no power or display Paid around $ 600 for this unit was working well ,but now it is cheaper to buy new washing machine. sounds like faulty PCB ,maybe a recall should have been done by WHIRLPOOL.

Died after 4 years of very light usage – Bought in Jan 2011, Died today just over 4 years old. Used less than once a week on average. Up until now I was pretty happy with it. I doubt I will get any joy from Whirlpool about it, and now torn between repairing it or buying something that will actually last a decent amount of time (yeah, right!). Appears to be the same PCB issue everyone… Read more

Worked great for 5 years – I was really happy with this machine, didn't miss a beat from new. Unfortunately, it looks like the PCB has failed and will cost around $200 to replace the part myself or $300 to have a tech do it for me. Not sure it's worth it this stage. Seems this a common fault with this model. Just seems washing machines aren't built to last these day, out of all the parts that fail this would have to have the least stress on it.

Absolute disappointment – Had this washer for 4 years, paid nearly $700. In that time, it's died twice (most recently yesterday) with the exact same problem - CCU board failure (the electronic brains of the thing). The part that failed yesterday was the replacement from the last time it'd failed, so it was newer than the rest of the machine. The first time it died, both… Read more

The Good Guys Browns Plains and Whirlpool tried to weasel out of warranty repair/replacement... that is, until I got the Office of Fair Trading involved. They changed their tune pretty fast after that. Especially once I gathered strong evidence to suggest that this problem was a design flaw that they had either tried to sweep under the rug, or deliberately engineered into the product (seeing as all the failures I've read about happen at or around the 2 year mark... conveniently when the manufacturer warranty expires. Thank god for Australian Consumer Law.

I will never, ever buy another Whirlpool appliance as long as I live. This noisy white zombie POS washing machine that sounded like a jet engine cost me twice as much as an el cheapo top-loader and lasted about as long. That, coupled with the slimy behaviour of both the retailer and the manufacturer meant that today, I went to a different retailer and tried a different brand altogether - one called "Beko".

Mine has just died too. Only 3 years old. So cranky – Mine has just died too. It won't turn on atall, I went to do a cycle, turned the dial on and it had no power to it, I haven't even bothered to get anyone to look at it yet, does anyone know if 3 years classes as a reasonable amount of warranty? whirpool "customer service" is ridiculous, they get your money & then don't care. before I bought one, it seems like everyone's dies of the same issue right on 3 years give or take. It's so not good enough, it wasn't the cheapest machine out there, so I expected it to last, I have 4 kids to wash for and its right on Christmas... great!!

Unbelievable - you'd think they were deliberately programmed to die at this time – Discovered this thread moments after I established that my machine had died mid cycle, approx 3 years one month post purchase. Never buying Whirlpool again.

Unit died. No power at all. Clearly control box fail after filter issue on pump – Machine is rubbish. Less than 2 years old. Wont go near whirlpool again. Previous machine (diff brand) went 8 years and still going for friend I gave it to. On that machine a filter block thus jamming pump caused a resettable prot device 'trip' that made machine workable after clearing filter and resetting. On this bad unit it is a control box of… Read more

Completely piece of junk!! – Same problem here. My fiance washed two cycles and everything was ok until my work shirts turn. It turned off automatically in mid cycle and doesnt turn on now. Called whirlpool and gave me technician's number, told me most probably main board is gone. It would cost me over $350. Better off buying new one, not whirlpool for sure! Disappointed...didnt last long more than 3 years!!

A huge waste of money – Broke down after 4 years. The masterboard died, a common problem apparently. The manufacturer wasn't interested in helping because the warranty had run out. Don't worry about Aus consumer laws! I expect a washing machine to last more than 4 years! Bought a replacement board on line for $150 Washing machine works well now, but for how long? Will never, ever buy a Whirlpool product of any description again.
