Dont buy this! – The worst washing machine ever made. With in a few weeks, the on / off button dislodged. Then - the pump failed and would not drain water -- except for out the front of the door. Then the washer / seal around the door broke -- a big tear --- because I must have ripped the clothes out. I asked, well, wouldn't my clothes be torn? The timer on the machine would count down until the cycle had finished - 0:56 is not 0:56 minutes - as explained by Whirlpool Service Centre - they are units of time... expect the wash to take more like 80 minutes..... then the machine flooded my house - twice. The repair company had a look - then returned to say there is nothing wrong. Flooded again. They thought I was over filling it - ended up doing the smallest washes to make sure it wouldnt keep happening. They came and took the machine to be tested -for a month. Then bought it back ---- could not find anything wrong with it. It's now at the dump. Not ONE phone call - or email from Whirlpool ---- despite my numerous attempts........... shocking!
5 warranty jobs, still doesnt work properly
Terrible – the first 3 washes were fine, then nothing seem to work properly. Cleaned out parts like the pump but still had problems. Nice is very good clean pump light can on every cycle, and don't drain properly, spin leaves soap suds on cloths.
a good machine – had a few dramas when we first got it. It seemed like the suds were leaking out of the tray. Called Whirlpool and they sent a guy out no problems. He told us that because it was a European machine it is designed for less water pressure. He put in a pressure valve to reduce pressure and it has been fine since. My wife loves the timer feature so you can set and go to work etc. You only thing I would change is the buttons are difficult to press, you really have to press hard. IT would be better if it used more water, you can set it to but maybe we are just used to a top loader.
Not a bad machine and we got it for a good price. Timer, looks, size buttons to program are hard to press, watch for water pressure!!!!
Excellent – Had this unit for a couple of months now - so far so good. I can't comment on longevity yet. I will say this does an excellent wash, everything is washed and rinsed (and spun) well (unlike my previous Omega machine). There are a lot of user programs to choose from but the daily wash seems to pretty much suit all our needs. The control panel is simple to use, usually just a single button press, maybe 2 if you want to add an option. The 'delay start' feature is fantastic - we program the wash to start an hour before we get home from work so its ready to be hung out when we get home. The spin can go up to 1200rpm (programmable) and clothes come out almost dry. The higher spins can be a smidgen noisy though (like a jet turbine). Despite such high spins speeds, the machine is sturdy and stable and doesn't move either. Very happy so far. Good quality wash, lots of user options, the spin is fantastic - clothes come out almost dry! The delay start is a great option. The user manual could have been more informative.
Time for an update. Had it for about 3 years now. We have a constant and major problem with leaking. The suds overflow and pour out of the detergent container and wet the floor. Its a real pain. Also, we had a blockage and needed a service repair. A sock had become lodged in the drain pump because apparently the pump filter is manufactured too big. The service repair guy said its a design flaw and common in this machine.
Update - It's rusting at the front (been like this for about a year). The rust is just below the control panel and is significant. It's due to the suds leaking. Otherwise stills works, doing OK after 6 years but I wouldn't buy Whirlpool again because of this.
Excellent – We love it. Have always had top loaders up untill purchasing this machine in October 2009. Ours is a WFS1273BD, we use the Daily Wash 60 program for everything that takes 1 hour and the cloths are always clean. Towels do come out a bit rough and stiff but I don't find that a big issue. The machine is quiet and does not wander across the laundry floor during spin cycle. Waiting to see if water bill improves. Recieved the $150 rebate from Gov't just after Christmas so it took 3 months to get to us but was good timing. Would not go back to top loader. Cleans cloths well
Quiet
Price (with rebate)
Can take quire a large load Towels a bit rough

Unfortunately not a winner for me, we have had two of these after whirlpool kindly replaced the first one that died within a month of buying it!! Now the second machine a year in has had two separate issues and I am now in the process of receiving a refund from whirlpool and going to go and buy a Miele!!
