Ive had multiple suction cleaners over the years to clean my above ground Pool including kreepy krawly and baracuda. These used to get tangled up and get stuck. They did a subpar job. So decided i needed to try a different style of cleaner. I was a little sceptical buying the mx6 after reading mixed reviews. I purchased the mx6 and i am very… Read more

impressed with it. It cleans very good and doesn't get stuck. The pool is spotless and it even cleans the walls. I also purchased the extra scrubbing kit for the mx6. I have a variable speed pump and adjusted the speed to suit the mx6. Highly recommend.

Disappointing to say the least! Purchased a new MX6 after reading how efficiently it cleans the walls and steps. Unfortunately, after less than 2 years, I needed to replace the reverse assembly module. This worked for a few months but it now gets stuck on the pool ledge. The ledge runs all the way around the pool, so regardless of where it climbs… Read more

the wall, as soon as it turns, the tracks hook on to the ledge and the cleaner stops. This is despite replacing the wheel tracks a few months ago. Wheel rotations are within the recommended limits so time to look for something better

Great – Own a robotic cleaner which was great. But annoying to put in and out. And heavy. So bought a secondhand mx6 for a try. I replaced a new direction gear. Origianly it didn't have scrubber brush. So Updated a brush at underneath if the cleaner. It works perfect. Now I haven't touched my robot over a month. Show details

Great cleaner if it wasn't for the ballrace cages degrading and breaking up – I have a 7m sized inground saltwater pool so I went for the smaller MX6 over the MX8. It was flawless in operation for the first couple of years except for the occasional clogging of the propeller by pine needles - not really the fault of the cleaner. However, after this time the unit just stopped moving. I eventually found that all the plastic… Read more

ballrace cages had broken up across the machine - the first notice of this was that the wheels were hard to turn. Once the cages had broken, the balls were free to drop out of the races and pieces of the cage would bind the bearings. (One of the 'better' wheel bearings is pictured - the others were broken up completely.) There's two sizes of ballraces used in the cleaner, being the larger 'wheel' size and the smaller ones as fitted to the drive shaft with bevel gear and the reverser assembly. So, all up this required the replacement of 8 wheel bearings, 1 track drive support bearing, 2 propeller support bearings, and 2 scrubber bearings - these 13 were the larger 'wheel' bearings. In addition, the reverser (type A for the MX6) assembly and the drive shaft with bevel gear which were fitted with the smaller bearing were also replaced. All up, about $200 worth of parts. There's wear on the tracks and clearance between the propeller and its housing which means these items may soon need replacement but that's normal wear and tear. So in summary, a good cleaner but the plastic bearing cage material is substandard for the pool environment meaning it requires substantial periodical refurbishment.

It’s grown on me – Jan 2023 - update.. I’ve been using this constantly since I purchased it. I must admit it has grown on me.. I have learnt not to watch it so intently and it does save me time as I can do other things while it’s cleaning. I’ve worked out how to slow it down so it doesn’t crawl up to the waterline and suck air. But I still wouldn’t go out and leave… Read more

My sister has a Zodiac MX8 for awhile and loves it. As my pool is smaller I purchased the Zodiac MX6..only 2nd time using it but am disappointed with it. It seems to just disturb the debris and move it around rather than collect it. Very frustrating to watch. Keeps getting stuck to the same spot in the pool constantly. There is no way I would leave it unattended as it keeps getting stuck on the water line and sucking in air to the filter. Putting the hose together etc is all straight forward but the instructions to hook it up to the filter depending on your skimmer box etc are not that great. Even YouTube wasn't that helpful. I REALLY wanted to like this product and was hoping it was going to save me time cleaning the pool, but seems I do a quicker and better job. I'll keep persevering considering I just brought it and it wasn't the cheapest.

Worked for 5 mins then stuck - Design flaw inherent – After reading 6 pages of reviews with issues it is pretty apparent these units have a design flaw. Not once had any of the Customer Service team/bots actually offered a solution. Which tells me there isn't one. My issue is it runs up the walls fine, then as it is falling down the tracks get stuck on the side of the steps like it is just hanging… Read more

on the edge. I can see others have this issue. For a brand that has been involved with pools for years this is disappointing to say the least. Even the pool shop said, no cleaners can guarantee step cleaning. Wow pools mustn't have steps now! Fine but that is not the issue. Getting stuck and hanging after 5 minutes makes it useless. I am awaiting a response but pretty sure there will be no solution. As a non design person I can see easy fixes that I cannot understand why they have not done so. Even the new AX10 has a list of the same problems. If you have a pool with no steps and soft slopes go for it otherwise I could not recommend this product. No where on the sales site or Zodiac site does it so unsuitable for steps (That was obvious that I could see) Pictures show it stuck, so moved it, 5 minutes later same issue. All I want is a pool cleaner that works this is 2020 after all. Is that too much to ask!

Awesome Value for Money – Having owned a Heyward Pool cleaner for the past 15 years, I got fed up with changing the parts every 2 years. Replacement parts for the Heyward cost half the price of a new one, so I though it was time for a change. I tested a Kreepy Krawly, but less said about that the better I think. As I began shopping I almost fell off my perch when I… Read more ·  1

saw the prices being asked for Pool cleaners, so I decided to take a punt on the very affordable Zodiac MX6.

Having owned a Zodiac Tri Chlorinator, I know Zodiac are a good solid company with good customer support. Based upon that alone, the MX6 was a logical choice.

To begin, the MX6 would not work, but this was due to a few leaks in my piping which was drastically reducing the pressure in my system. The MX6 does like good pressure to operate correctly.

Once I fixed the pressure, the MX6 almost jumped out of the pool and gave me a kiss. Brilliant!

Bang for buck, if like myself you are shocked by the cost of Pool Cleaners, this is the one for you.

It has a smaller width of suction than my Heyward and the Kreepy Krawly, so takes a bit longer to clean the pool, but it does the job at a fraction of the cost.

Winning!

Excellent pool cleaner – I have an in grounf small fibreglass / gelcoat pool. Other suction type cleaners get stuck in corners and do not clean all areas. What a piece of crap this pool cleaner is! Wish I'd read the reviews here before I purchased it. Disappointing product – A very disappointing purchase. Cleans well until it gets to the steps of the pool upon which time it becomes stuck and is unable to dislodge itself. I have tried all three level settings and trouble shooting etc. but problem persists. Spent $599 on a product that requires a baby sitter to continually dislodge it. I’ve got to the point where I simply turn off the pool pump to save me having to continually dislodge the cleaner. Show details

Totally useless – I have had this cleaner for 4 years, it has been an endless source of frustration and a huge waste of time. If you have leaves in your pool, even just a few it will require constant strip downs. The leaves get caught in the blades. The turbo pushes leaves away from the suction hole which means it takes much longer to clean the pool. It will climb… Read more

Frustrating – The MX6 is constantly getting the tracks caught on the edges and when it does when it does release it goes onto its back like a 'turtle'on the bottom and stays there. While it gets clogged frequently it is easily enough to remove and return to the water, but its like having small children in your pool, you can't take your eyes off it. I must have been expecting too much after having a Heyward for 12 years, but the MX6 unfortunately is a dud. Show details

Constantly clogged with leaves – This is a nice, compact unit that works really well when the pool is already clean. However when there are leaves in the pool, every couple of minutes it stops as it’s jammed by a single leaf. Quite disappointing given this is why I bought it - to clean the leaves. Unless I’m doing something wrong, I wouldn’t recommend it for a leafy area. Show details

Really Dissapointing – Really Dissapointing. When it works it does a great job but barely works. I have had for 3 months and the rubber treads constantly fall off. I put them back on and 10 minutes later they fall off again. For a $500 cleaner I would expect more than 3 months use. All previous cleaners have been better and lasted longer. I wouldn't buy again. Show details

Does A Good Job Of Cleaning The Floor And Walls – I bought an MX6 just less than a year ago and I was so impressed with its performance I recommended it to a mate. He is happy with his also. Cheap piece of junk – I’ve purchased a house that came with this model pool cleaner (Zodiac mx6). It a does a marginal job of cleaning at best. Hopeless- more time consuming than manually vacuuming – Pool is long and narrow. Not quite ‘lap pool’ but one simple rectangular shape. MX6 copes well with sand and small leaves Sand will get into the mechanism so be prepared to strip it down now and then. Main issue is that it just tangles the hose continuously. Don’t believe the fable about getting the hose length right or laying the hose in the sun.… Read more

None of these tricks work. You will be trying to untangle the hose every 10 minutes. It’s quicker and less frustrating just vacuuming the pool yourself.

Average cleaner – I have had this cleaner for just under 3 years. Biggest problem I found was that the cleaner would coil the hose to the point it was cleaning in one spot only. The only way I was able to fix the problem was to tie plastic pipe to the hose to stop it curling up. The other problem is that it jams very easily on very thin stringy palm leaves . These… Read more

jam the impeller and shaft. Because of the spinning impellar it also tends to push other leaves away rather than sucking them up. The hoses have also recently failed with fractures next to fittings. I have found that it will work on my low flow pump if can you adjust the speed to keep it moving. When working properly it clean well. The only reason that I bought this model was the claim by Zodiac that it would work with low flow pumps. I wouldn't buy it again.
