This percolator makes a great cup of coffee – I purchased my Breville percolator about 2 years ago in replacement of another one that I've been using for 10 years. I also bought a spare just in case they are thinking of discontinuing it. Prior to the Breville I used a Russell Hobbs, which now resides in my RV. The Breville percolator is a great coffee maker. It's simple, well designed, easy to clean, doesn't require any filter paper or other additional bits and pieces. All one has to do is add water and put the coffee in it and, voila, one gets a nice, aromatic brew; and it looks nice. The way it brews coffee and how the coffee tastes
I've not had any corrosion issues, but I don't leave coffee standing in it for hours. Usually, once it's brewed, I transfer the coffee straight to a thermos. The percolator gets rinsed out with hot water and I use a paper towel to wipe out any coffee residue. Every other day it is washed with dishwashing liquid. Occasionally I fill it up with cold water and a little dishwasher powder and let it percolate to remove coffee stains and residue build-up. In hindsight the only thing that annoys me is the little plastic button that fits inside the lid. After a few years it breaks apart. In the good old days these were made from tempered glass and lasted forever.
I also bought one about 6 years ago and loved it so much I took it to use at work, so bought another to use at home just over two years ago. The new one has started to give us trouble in the last month. It doesn't keep the temperature anymore and then starts to percolate again. Any ideas? Or should I just throw it out (warranty expired) and buy another?
Great percolator but it only lasted a year. The plastic/lid button degraded with heat and fell apart. Cannot find a suitable high temperature glue to fix. Looking for a glassblower to make another button which can be held in with a clip.
you can also contact Breville and get a couple of replacement buttons for the lid. I did that last year. Just make sure that you also request or keep the little rubber ring that fits in between the lid and the button. The replacement cost is minimal and you can request Breville to quote first and organize the replacement via mail order.
Thanks rob2010. I have ordered a couple very cheaply on Ebay with rubber gaskets included.

I have a Breville CMP12 percolator and although it works fine in all aspects, I do have to use a scourer to remove corrosion on the inside at the very bottom!...It seems to be due to some form of electrolysis on the alloy nut at the bottom!
