a very convenient coffee machine – First up I have to say that I would never have bought this for myself, due to ethical concerns about Nestle. However, for my boyfriend it is perfect: a very quick latte first thing in the morning before work without the mess and fuss of dealing with coffee grounds - to be honest, I don't think he would have used a 'proper' coffee machine. If I had my time again, I would buy a cheaper model such as the Pixie and added milk frother; the Latissima takes up a lot more benchtop space (prime real estate in his kitchen) and is more fiddly to clean. We've also already had to return it under warranty due to the milk pipes getting clogged (he was using full fat milk but I think it'll be ok now that some tips on cleaning have been provided & light milk is used). The thing that is quite irritating about this machine is that you have to put your coffee into the microwave for 15 seconds to heat it properly as it is lukewarm at best. Also very hard to swallow is the deeply irritating Nescafe boutique where we buy the capsules - the faux classy 'conoisseur' attitude and invasive insistence on keeping your purchases on record (fine if it's optional e.g. like a supermarket reward card, but maybe we don't want to be kept such a tight track of). It's great that they recycle the packaging (if they do what they say they do) and actually some of the coffees are quite nice. Hopefully they can start selling some fair trade capsules soon...... convenience, tastes alright, nice looking machines the 'nespresso boutiques' are awful, their insistence on keeping records, it's by Nestle, lattes not hot enough, fiddly to clean
