Good – If you dont need portable buy a permanent split system unit(which is what we have also done now), if you need portable it performs faultlessly provided you work out your window arrangement so that it is not a nuisance. Also recommend insulating around the pipe from unit to window as it radiates significant heat.
My rating is based on comparing it as a portable not comparing it to split system fixed a/c. It's all about fixing the window arrangement to make it practical. Easy to use, quieter than I had expected, reliable as I have had it for a few years now and zero issues with faultless operation under very hot conditions. The window kit is useless in a modern home with aluminium windows, the solution was a "window blank" made of craftwood/chipboard with the fitting recessed into it. If you try to fit the plastic window kit provided, hot air simply blows past the sash between the fixed pane and the movable pane in a normal window. Cooling capacity is definitely limited to a small area. The pipe from unit to window needs to be insulated.
