Rubbish – Letter to Asko; I booked a service call with ASKO.com.au (phone 1300002756) for my ASKO Washing machine model W6021. The following Monday 27 April 2015 an Asko service person visited my premises at 3pm to inspect the washing machine. At first he said the washing machine’s motor needed to be replaced and went to get a replacement motor… Read more
from his vehicle. Upon his return I asked him if the electrical brushes of the motor were the problem. He said they were. I said why not replace the brushes. He said that the difference in cost to have a new motor rather than replaced brushes was $100. Total cost for his service call would be $400. I agreed to the new motor which he then installed. He later showed my the brushes of the old motor which he claimed were worn out even though they had half an inch of carbon still intact. After installing the new motor and being unable to get the machine working I asked him if the washing machine’s computer circuit board was OK. He said it was faulty and the actual cause of the washing machine’s malfunction. He said a replacement part for the washing machine’s computer circuit board was no longer unavailable. I asked, “When do the circuit boards usually malfunction”. He relied, “After ten years which is the age of your washing machine”. He then removed the new motor which he had installed and charged $99 for his service call. He gave me a “Loyalty” voucher for a $95 rebate toward the cost of purchasing a new Asko washing machine.
My concern is why wasn’t I told at the time I booked the service call with Asko that your company was unable to supply essential parts for your products. Why was the service man trying to sell me a new motor for a machine which was at an age when the computer parts were reaching end of life and were no longer available. I suspect there was nothing wrong with the old motor or it’s brushes. I suspect the Asko service man was attempting to extract an exorbitant service fee in suggesting a new motor. I also suspect he was incompetent for not initially testing the circuit board (which I thought would be the obvious first place to look). Why can’t manufacturers make appliances that are perpetually serviceable rather than churning out planned obsolescence - a question of ethics and sustainability. Although your Company claims your products are “durable” and you have “respect for the environment” I have since discovered (according to online reviewers) that after 5 years your appliance’s computer circuits can not be repaired or replaced.
Your Company’s practices are deceptive and your staff are unethical therefore I won’t be buying your products again.
I am returning your Asko voucher - find enclosed.
I resent being out of pocket for untrustworthy an incompetent lack of service and demand that the service fee of $99 which I have paid (see copy of receipt attached) be refunded in full.
Asko w6011 – I thought I would just make a little review on my ASKO 6011 as I have been going through all the different reviews and reading everyones different opinions. I'd just like to say to anyone who will listen - I'm just pleased I'm not my grandmother and have to use a wringer washer. Aren't we lucky to be complaining about the different machines that… Read more
we throw clothes into and it washes them for us and it lasts for 5-15 years. I have an Asko w6011 it broke last week and I have been told today its the motor. I do an awful lot of washing so I can't be cranky even though its only 5 or 6 years old. I have actually enjoyed going to the laundromat as it means washing only twice a week in a huge machine, whilst I go have a quick coffee, compared to 3 loads a day! The kids have actually been using towels more than once because they know we don't have a machine at the moment. I havent been told what the bill will be to fix it yet so tomorrow I may be crying but I'd still get another Asko. She did a good job!! ps use less washing detergent they tell you to use far too much. Halve it and add a teaspoon of bicarbonate soda. love love xxxxx This machine does take a lot of the water out of the clothers and in summer they dry in no time. My clothes last to long as it is too gentle on them. I feel guilty when I go shopping for new clothes as my old ones are still like new. Bloody Asko!! It can be a bit noisy but I just close the laundry door.
Good – I love the fact that tissues stay in the pocket and do not go through the whole load. I love the fact that I no longer soak or scrub any of the really dirty clothes like I use to. Even my husbands greasy overalll come out much cleaner than my top loader ever washed them and that was after they were soaked & scrubbed for a few days. Now all I do is… Read more
throwthem in the machine & it takes care of the rest. I can honestly say that I am frightened about getting a different machine for fear of it not working half as well as my Asko has for all these years. I have held out for as long as I could hoping that Asko would release a much bigger machine but unfortunatly they haven't. My Asko has worked hard & well for a long time and apart from changing brushes which hsve worn away due to its constant use over the years I must state that it has treated me well and I will be sad to see it replaced. I have an earlier model the W600 and back then 8 years ago the choices for front loaders to save on water were limited. The Asko was ranked the best then for its water consumption and is still leading the way now. The fact that it also heats its own hot water was also a bonus for my household as it saves draining our hot water tank and us running out. The fact that it is gentlier on your clothes because their is no adjutator also means your clothes last and long newer for longer. My only gripe with the Asko is that even today they do not make very large machines. When I first purchased my Asko 8 years ago I only had 2 children now I have 5 making us a household of 7 and I am afraid its just not big enough especially in winter when all the washing is thicker and bulkie,r it is struggling to keep up. My machine is constantly going...

Bought this in 2004 still working in 2018 – I recently sold it. Still working. I bought a miele to replace it. My W6021 never required a service man. It worked flawlessly. This model was actually made in Sweden. It washed my clothes gently and was pretty quiet. It had it's own internal water heater. You only had a cold water tap connection. Those Swedes knew how to build a good washing… Read more
machine. I can't say anything bad about it.
Having said all that. You have to look after your appliances. For example by not overloading it, and regularly running a hot water rinse through the machine.
STILL GOING STRONG w600 – I know this machine has been discontinued but I just have to say how happy I am with the machine I have had for over 18 years. During that time I have only had the mechanic out for very minor problems - so minor in fact I just can't remember what they were. I also have a Miele machine that I bought ten years ago and dedicated my Asko to my… Read more
"animal" washing (many dogs, cats and horse rugs etc.). It is such a good machine and even my animal washing comes out perfectly washed and looking almost like new. Thank you Asko !!
Asko W6021 great machine but no spare parts!! – OMG same issues, 11 yrs old and I took it apart to find all is fine except it needs new computer board. great washing machine although as per other comments it did take a long time to complete a cycle. Crazy and shameful AKSO that you don't support spare parts. Why build such a good quality machine, charge a lot for it then treat us with… Read more
contempt by no support - and you need to tell customers that there may be no spare parts before we book and have to pay a service call!!

It's ok, just – Washes ok, not great, my wife dislikes it totally, but at a $1400 purchase price in 2005 I have to squeeze a bit more time from it. Has lasted 10 years exactly before major trouble, now brushes are worn out and motor bearings gone due to water leak, which leaks directly onto motor which has NO moisture protection- not a good design. Motor is not… Read more
supposed to be serviceable, but if your (very) handy you can pull it apart, buy new brushes and bearings for less than $100, I might get a few more years out of it. Machine does not wash well enough to warrant the cost of buying a new motor, so it's a self fix, then the bin when it fails next. After owning one, Asko washing machines are not worth the premium price in my opinion, its not a 15-20 life machine if you need a new motor at 10 years, won't buy again. If I had to pay full price for service calls and repairs the machine would be at the scrap yard now.
$68 for new brushes, $14 for new bearings, motor is fixed and runs quiet again. Leak was where the… Read more
Good Working Horse But Not A 20 Year Machine..LIES! – A bit disappointing after 10 years (4-5 washes per week), I have a complete failure now. I hit the start and hear clicks only, well I'm surprised it lasted this long anyway. The heat element failed just after 3 years so I washed in cold water ever since but was OK with that. It's a shame it has a good designed washing machine, let down by some poor quality parts.
Disappointed in lifespan – This was a great washing machine - when it was working - but we have had a main bearing fail after only 9 years. We also has an inlet valve fail last year which cost $200 to repair. Rang ASKO Service who couldn't tell me how much it would cost to replace the bearing. Surfed the Net where main bearing replacement looked like a $500 repair and… Read more
asked a local repair company who, sensibly, said get a new machine. The ASKO replaced an AEG second which we had for 12 years and had a lot of use. We expected the ASKO to last 12 - 15 years, it did not have heavy use (we have another machine for big loads) and we are very disappointed in a so called premium product.

ASKO Front Loading Washing Machine W6021. Quality control ? – Have consulted on a number of products and washing machines where just 1 of them. I can proudly confirm that I have enjoyed a positive interaction with the ASKO W6021 Front Loading Washing machine. The important parts that can influence the wear on any washing machine are those parts that are constantly exposed to water and chemicals in washing… Read more
powders. In most Asian Made machines Hot and Cold water will affect parts made of plastic rather than metal. One of the most important parts are the Inside & Outside internal washing bowls. As well as the rubber billows (outside vibration rubber) this rubber is exposed to constant stresses and movements of the bowl.
The other is the Stainless Steel Washing Tub is mounted on vibration absorbers that usually are springs or hydraulic shock absorbers for the constant movement of the outside bowl. When you have a close look at the ASKO or a Miele you will see the difference, not just in price but very much so in quality. Here you do get what you pay for simple as that. Asko and Miele do NOT use PLASTIC washing bowls but stainless steel. They both use stainless steel reinforced bowl supports and fittings. One major advantage in the ASKO is that they do not use a rubber billow but a simple rubber seal and their own patented design that is based on a independent stainless steel hydraulic suspension system, a very effective yet very simple, reliable system. Minimal noise, minimal run away machine vibrations. Time permitting have a look at both of these products, you won't be disappointed.
Wont stop working!!! – I bought this washing machine approx 20+ years ago when the front loaders first came out. Immediately I hated front loaders and thought when this breaks down I am going back to a top loader. I have been waiting over 20 years for it to miss a beat. Had it serviced once about 10 years ago. This machine won’t die!! Show details
20+ Years - still works like a dream – Had my Asko W6021 for 20yrs+, probably 25years+ tbh. Hasn’t missed a beat. Washes incredibly, admittedly usually cold wash, hot water for sheets/towels. 3prsn family, 2children, so lots of washing. Show details
Ripped Off – Paid top dollar for our Asko W6021 on the basis The Good Guys salesman stating "top machine that should give 20 years untroubled service". Now the PCB board has gone after 9 years - we live in Melbourne metro area but it took Asko Customer Service ONE WEEK to respond to our calls - they advised that no spare parts are available so they machine… Read more
cannot be repaired – no care, no responsibility. We will now scrap the machine, warn all our family and friends and never buy an Asko product again.
While waiting for Asko Customer SERVICE to respond we went to The Good Guys to access replacement options - overheard a salesman telling a customer that "Asko are a long life machine, the best value on the market and had their own service people and fantastic customer service" – deceptive and misleading conduct???

Fantastic Machine BUT >>>> – Like others, we NOW find that even a replacement detergent drawer is "not in stock". Admittedly it is apparently 10 years old but surely there should be some parts availability. As it is only the front of the drawer that has broken away, maybe we'll carry on using it/putting up with it looking like junk while we save up to purchase a different… Read more
brand that may still last the 10 years but start at a much lower purchase price. These machines are (& were) promoted as the best and we paid the higher price for a quality product. It's just a pity that ASKO themselves are not living up to their end of the bargain and are having their reputation destroyed.
Paid $500 for a new pump and 2 months later – Machine suddenly pumped water but did nothing else. I had the authorized service man come back and was told it was the circuit board. It was burned out and could not be replaced. It is 10 years old. Now I have a dryer that works but no washer. What a piece of junk.
Asko W6021 – Yes I agree, good build quality, but after 10 years the PCB 's gone so that's it..so a nice stainless steel drum on quality bearings plus rest of the steel box - all going to landfill because you can't get the parts. Asko need to review their replacement parts availability policy.
Best front loader – I've had this front loader for 10 years now and even though in the last couple of years, part of the outside of it has started to rust, everything else is still in the best condition. I do 3-4 loads of washing a week, every week. It takes about 2 hours for a normal cycle (but that's what front loaders do) and it does a great job. I will not hesitate to buy another one. Definitely worth the price
Failed after just over 10 years – After 10 years of faithful and active service our Asko decided to call it quits. I was hoping it would last at least 15 years, with it costing over $1400 when we bought it. So, instead of calling in a service call (costing $99 plus $35 per 15 minutes thereafter) plus the inevitable cost of replacement parts (in the order of hundreds of dollars,… Read more
based upon other user reviews), I decided to buy a new machine - not Asko BTW. I have decided that investing $1400 for a machine which should last longer than 10 years is not worth it. I have decided to get a Bosch this time.
I think the Asko was a fine cleaning machine - but it was not perfect. It was noisy - so noisy when it was on - I had to close the laundry door each time. It also had a long cleaning cycle even with the quick wash option. The Bosch promises super quiet - so fingers crossed my new machine will clean quickly and quietly for the next 10 years to come.
ASKO machines overated – Do not buy ASKO. they wash well BUT they delete spare parts too early and you are stuck with a dud. PCB for W6021 NA 6 years after our purchase ( ONE in AUSTRALIA = $500!!!!). Control board failure = throw away machine. Why make a machine that "lasts 20 years " IF parts not available ASKO ??? Previous machines BENDIX (12 years), (and 15 years)
Good while working but now dead – The Asko has done a good job while it was alive, but now it has suddenly died. Worked perfectly on the first load this morning second load refused to start. Was told this is common problem and needs new control board. With the repair costing half the original cost of the machine I can not justify the expense. I would take a lot of convincing that… Read more
the cost of the replacement part could be justified in any shape or form other than counting your losses and buying a new machine. I think my best option is to avoid Asko and look for another reputable brand that has a more cost effective repair scale. Did a good job while it was working Exhorbinate cost of spare parts.
A real workhorse, Best Washing Machine – I love my Asko! Sad to have a love affair with a washing machine, but I've had bad experiences with washing machines. Until I bought the Asko, I've had a constant run of bad luck with washing machines constantly breaking down, I got to be on first names with the repair guy, every three to six months I'd have to call him to repair the washing… Read more · 1
machine, I had this bad luck with three different makes of washing machine until I purchased the Asko.
I've had the Asko 5yrs and it is still going strong, hasn't broken down ever. This is such a new thing for me to find such a reliable washing machine. That's why I love my Asko! Reliable, energy efficient
N problems – We have had our ASKO for over 10 years without any issues, we have moved 4 times during that period. It is very gentle on the clothes, to the point that if you accidently leave a tissue in a pocket, it is still in one piece at the end! Our only problem is that now with three (very messy) boys, it's a bit too small. Water efficient, gentle on clothes, reliable

Little ripper – Purchased my 6021 in 2004, still going strong. It's handled the washing of two couples living in the same house for around 3of those years. Arguably not the most technologically wizbang washing machine on the market, but who really wants a machine with all the complex bells and whistles? This is just so easy to use.
Going to treat my machine to a lil service soon just for being such a good sport. Easy to use, reliable, a real workhorse
Terrible – This review is for the very similar W6011. I would never buy an Asko again. Paid full price but received a second complete with scratches and a faulty start button. Both Asko and retailer refused responsibility but admitted it was a second. 5 years later the machine no longer works. Cost to repair $300 - $500. Sent a complaint to Asko and was told… Read more
via email that I should expect the part to break down after 3 - 5 years. This is not a premium brand; please don't waste your money. Washes clothes well. Short life, can't make adjustments to cycle once started, do not know how long before the cycle will finish, poor service.

Asko Rubbish – Asko, "built to last longer", total figment of their imagination. Parents bought a very expensive Asko Front Load W/machine. $190 for parts and it don't like that we'll charge $99 just for turning up. No mention of any costs prior to arriving. Useless machine and even worse Customer Service. Have had this machine for 15yrs and is still going strong if it died now I have definately got my money's worth
Terrible – Their website syas"built to last longer"! Bulldust. Six years with moderate use is NOT good enough considering the price payed and the sales pitch. I will never buy an Asko again, they are way over priced. The repair man agreed, saying that he has seen plenty of broken Asakos and they just dont live up to their hype. Asko, talk to a repairer and buy what they suggest. Great machine for 6 years, did an exceptional job washing clothes. Broke down on chrostmas day (obviously a coincidence). Very expensive to fix, at least $600-control board and brushes in the motor. Should have lasted longer!

Terrible – Further to my last entry, I removed the 6021 in preparation for delivery of the new Miele (why did I stray?). Took the top off. No perished hoses. Top left corner drawer where detergent is added slides into a plastic module. seal of any sort but seems to rely on tightness of three screws, and this is where it has been leaking. The machine is 5yro but has obviouly been leaking for a long time judging by massive amount of corrosion - galvanising has turned to rust. The leak is never noticed because so small. And where does the water go? Partly to where all the electronics are ... lots of white powdery corrosion from glavanised parts is evidence of the moist environment in which the electronics are housed ... and a large scorch mark on the main computer board would indicate the machine's death knell and why the RCD tripped on the house. The remainder of the water drips down the side of the drum probably damaging whatever is down there ... might explain some of the recent mechanical noises. Very very bad design. All the times I trusted this machine to operate whilst I was not in the house ... I'm suprised the house didn't go up in flames. How about a safety recall? Absolutely disgusting Asko.
Asko advertises "Built to last" I say engineered to fail. Refer below.
Terrible – I would not recommend Asko nor will I ever be purchasing another Asko product ever again. They are expensive which is ok if they are a quality product - but they are not. Supposed to last 14 years, have had this machine less than 3years and have had it repaired twice and now needs another repair. Service is terrible - they are rude and unskilled and expensive.
Bad – DISAPPOINTED, have now switched to Bosch and now expect better reliability, back up service is expensive and specialists had no idea how to solve the problems. Washed well particularly in cold water, water consumption is good An expensive machine that has lasted only nine years but expected much more because of the cost and name/reputation, small… Read more

well but quality just isnt there). The quality of the asko is next to none.Washes thoroughly but very gently, you never need to soak and I dont use sprays etc.It gets my family's clothes clean always and I have 3 children including a very mucky 4 y o boy.Towels never get wrecked even after 10 years of washing it keeps them looking great and same goes for all your clothes, stay looking new for ages.Uses hardly any water (52l) very little washing powder. You can really fit alot in these machines and they still wash beautifully.Tissues stay in pockets too.The drum is separate to the outer unit so there is very low vibration and noise. The engineering on this brand is amazing.
Best washing machine ever! – My friend have one for about 20 years and going like a swiss clock. I bought one second hand 2 years ago and just love it. Show reply
