Looking for old ADSL router with no fuss – If you are still in line for NBN and running on your old ADSL lines, along with using the cheap rubbish routers supplied that are giving you grief, have a look around for the Linksys WAG54G by Cisco. They are cheap, easy to setup and don't miss a beat. They will only be good until ADSL comes to an end, but if you are having problems with all the old Thomson Telstra rubbish, give this little gem a crack ! Show details
Excellent – I have used this device for the past three years while I was traveling with the military and it helped me out in many ways and never let me down. Great Product, I've never had any problems with this device It could be more durable, it seems weak and flimsy.
Excellent – For 3 years now my Lihksys has operated smoothly, without consequence. I have never had to do any re-routing or anything like that. It's installation was quick and simple, even for the technologically disadvantaged among us! It was well priced and I was able to buy it as a package more cheaply via my internet provider (Internode). It's lady… Read more
thing, I know, but I selected this model over others for it's colour and design, preferring not to dull up my workspace with the boring silver & grey tones that are becoming more and more popular in electronic equipment. Someone create some snazzy colours out there!!! Please? Easy set up. Smooth operation, no gliches.
Stable and easy to install – I have tried using other brands and had many hassles getting the product working reliably. I had this modem up and running within 15 minutes of getting it out of the box. I have tried other brands and Linksys provides an easy to use interface and have never missed a beat in 4 months. Linksys is a CISCO company and no wonder this is such a quality… Read more
product. This product has won me over from NETGEAR. Easy to setup and use Signal could be a little stronger
Excellent – We have had this product for approximately 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. It was supplied by our computer service provider and they use this product all the time for their other clients. I can't comment if it is value for money as I'm not sure how much it is. This product was supplied to us by our computer service provider. We… Read more
didn't set it up but it didn't take very long at all for the computer tech to install and configure everything. I haven't heard of the brand before. none that I could think of.
Excellent – We got this in 2004 because I wanted to link the Mac to my husbands PC and had been working very well since that very day. The installation was easy and it doesn't take up much room on the desk at all. Since then I have used my wireless laptop around the house - the distance range is great. We thought about upgrading the wireless router to an… Read more
updated version but there is really no good reason to - If it ain't broke, why fix it?
We had also heard horror stories about connecting to the modern types and we have been lucky enough to keep upgrading our computers with little (if any) impact on this router.
I use my computer ever day and I have never had a problem with it. Had this for about five years and works very well. No problems at all.
Excellent – I've had this device for over 5 years and it is still going strong. It even works well in the summer, haven't had any problems with it overheating. It may of cost a little more than other routers at the time however it has been worth it. It looks good and it works well, what more could you ask for. Great Product! I bought this product as quite a… Read more
few friends recommended it to me. It was very easy to setup up. The wireless had a very good range. It has never been a problem since day one.
OK – overall the "Linksy WAG54G v2" is OK but just ok which i do not think is good enough to tell you the truth. you want excellent when it comes to the net. because there is nothing worse than wanting to look something up on the net and your net being as slow as anything small easy to set up not too hardy not long lasting breaks all the time … Read more
cuts out and stuffs up a lot
it does the job but when it comes to the net you want more than the normal you want something that works really well and makes your internet really fast
OK – When the router was new it was great, but Linksys needs to address the overheating problem. I highly recommend Linksys routers for people a bit daunted by network configuration settings (their menus are great). If you're after a bit more control and reliability, look elsewhere. Fully featured (for its time), easy setup. Eventually became faulty… Read more
(outside warranty period of course). The ethernet sockets would only connect at 10/half (this is a known problem due to overheating), and the wireless would occasionally dropout requiring a reboot of the router. The NAT table fills up very quickly if you don't throttle connections in bittorrent.
OK – This is an older modem now and although I still have mine I have moved on to much greener pastures in the form of a Draytek 2800VG. Worked well in the beginning. Better to use the Pluto firmware than the original linksys firmware. The pluto firmware made the modem so much better it was not funny. Poor firmware from Linksys. It suffers over time… Read more
with the heat generated causing the modem to fail resulting in continual power cycle sto nurse it back into operation.
Excellent – Its very sturdy. I do nt use theb wirless. I find it easier to use cables. Less likely to hav e my internet high jacked. Some friends oh mine got ripped big time by there nieghbour who linked in to there internet. Good price very reliable no cons as yet
OK – This was the best most well featured unit on the market 2 years ago, but when the ADSL system died I had to retire it. I ripped the WiFi card out and put it into my laptop - just plugged right in and replaced an old 11mbps one. Windows XP detected and automatically installed drivers first time. Now I have 54Mbps in my laptop to connect to my new… Read more
netgear router.
I still use it as a switch for connecting my Xbox to my PC so at least it is not a total loss.
Thanks Linksys. 54Mbps Wifi - 4 port Switch - Cisco derived Firewall - Good Brand! ADSL died about 2 months out of warranty. They told me it was damage caused by lightening. Now I read online that it is common fault.
Overheats.
Excellent – Hammering away for a long time, no problems so far. ! what else? After using 5 other brands, models and makes (including Linksys) this one is WAY EASYER!!!!! And better one of them all. Stan the Man. Fast, cool looking, easy to set up, ADSL 2+ COMPARTIBLE, Bla-bla bla - has all bells and whistles! Cons? Telstra has no tech support for it, so set it up yourself, this is where pros come in - easy!!!!
Good – My WAG54G v2 gave up after 2 years of non-stop service. In the middle of last year, we need to send it back for reconfiguration. Got it back later and been fine until two weeks ago when the LAN gave up (wireless was fine). Tried to reset but still the same. Now, I've disconnected the device is now using a cheap adsl/2+ (netcomm). Since its… Read more
out of warranty, will decide later if to buy another just ADSL/2+ modem and a separate wirelss router and DHCP server. That way, my LAN/WAN still works and all I need replacing is the modem.
Hopefully I could get something out of the modem if sold in E-bay, who knows. Do you want to buy my modem? just pay for the postage and its yours. send your details over this website and we will see what we can do. standard ADSL2+ modem, easy to setup and configure When upgrading the modem software, gave up and need to reset. ISP said they are not responding.
