Good – The fabric of this bouncer molds to the shape of your baby so there is no chance getting a flat head. It bounces nicely and is a nice simple design. It did only have a short period of use but I found most baby accessories for the 0 to 5 month period very limited in their use. There are no bells and whistles with this bouncer but that also means… Read more
there is nothing to break or go wrong with it. This is a nice simple bouncer for bubs. It has a nice motion when bouncing and is great to use in summer as the fabric is mesh and light weight. I like the basic nature of this bouncer but it does mean that the tilt is not adjustable and baby is always it a very flat position.
Retro Metal Mesh Bouncer - The Original & The Best – I used this for my first child and it was fantastic. I didn't want something that was going to make us lazy parents and would also encourage our baby to learn which they do with this because they learn to bounce themselves. The have plenty of airflow with the honeycomb/mesh weave material cover and simple frame. I actually preferred this over the… Read more
rocker we had for our son as it took up a lot less room. Allows for baby to learn to bounce themselves to sleep. Lots of airflow. Mesh cover easy to wash and can place towel/terry towelling nappy across for warmth if necessary. Easy to attach toys. Was unsuitable for son who was longer and bigger.
Excellent – A brilliant option for a bouncer which I would recommend to all of my friends. Toys can be easily attached to the waistband or the side. These bouncers have been around for such a long time and it is easy to see why. They are simple, light weight and uses the momentum of the baby ot bounce. Both of my children thoroughly enjoyed being in it and… Read more
as it is quite big it will last quite a few months as they grow. The crochet material is fantastic for airflow and brilliant in the summer time to prevent baby from sweating. It can be hard to clean and is quite expensive for what it is.

Great for my baby but probably not so great for squirmy baby – My baby has been in this bouncer every day, its nice and lightweight and also easy to take in the car. Has been fantastic for my baby who has hip dysplasia and is in a brace so her legs can be supported by the waist strap. Hard to explain but I have her butt under the waist strap and her legs on top of it. Works really well for her. Other… Read more
bouncers have been too narrow for her.
On the other hand she cant move much so cant comment on what it would be like if she were wiggly but i can understand some mothers concerns.
I would think this bouncer would be handy for newborns before they start to get more active but if you wanted it to last you would be better off buying something that can strap baby into a bit safer. light, portable, suits a baby with hip problems Cant alter tilt so baby in same position, not really safe if baby wiggly.
OK – Bubs enjoys this bouncer but we don't really use it very often as bubs already has too much furniture. It's probably best to use this on a carpeted surface so bubs doesn't slide all over the room. Simple design. Light breathable fabric so good to use outdoors in summer. Baby learns to kick legs to make the bouncer move up and down. It actually… Read more
says on the instructions to adjust the waist straps with a safety pin, which is very fiddly. An adjustable belt shouldn't be too hard to design into the bouncer.
When baby bounces it moves around on the floor.
I depends on the type of carpet whether or not it slides. It will slide on very short pile woollen carpet. Been there !!
Was good back in the 80's but lets move on! – OK, there is not a lot of price difference between these old fashioned bouncinettes and the new ones with toys etc. I found this one very unsafe and surprisingly so did my mother who had used an identical one on me back in the 80's. She said back then these were the only type available. Well I am glad that times have changed. We put our first… Read more
new born baby girl in this and within 1 min the strap was around her neck as she had slid right down to the bottom... I don't care if people say you should fasten the sides with safety pins as that is stupid and a waste of time to do, as if you need to get them out quickly you just can't with the safety pins holding them in. Times have changed and I think this company should come up with a better product than this, it has had its day.
Unsafe and unsatisfactory
this happened to my baby too in 1993, I cant believe they are still sold

Has stood the test of time – We were given a second hand bouncinette when I had our first child. She is now 40. It bounced our 4 babies, has been lent out to others, and is now bouncing our 7th grandchild. I have no idea how many babies used it before we got it. I have replaced the mesh once, and it looks like it might need replacing again soon, but you can’t complain about… Read more
that! We put rubber grips on the bottom to stop it sliding around on tiles, but I *think* the newer models might have grips. A simple but effective design that has stood the test of time.
Simple but the best – I had the bouncinette for all three of my children back in the day. It was one of the best things I ever bought. I now have one I bought for when the grandchildren came over and am hanging onto it until more come. It is not good for floppy newborns like many other products. To stop a newborn sliding I got a padded cover like mentioned in another… Read more
review which was good . I believe you can adjust the angle of the tilt which would help with a newborn but when the baby has a bit more weight it will sink into the bouncinette and no more sliding. The babies get such a thrill when they first start to bounce themselves. They are great for them to lie in while listening to you and friends talking. Also I had a frame with toys dangling from it for them to play with. My grandson screamed non stop in a rocker but loved the bouncinette instantly. He had developed reflux around that time and the bouncinette held him at an angle that didn't make his reflux play up.
My baby loves this – This bouncer is a much better quality than our valco gyro. It's simple design means things don't break or go wrong. Something about the angle of the bouncer helps our daughter with her 'business' so it can come in very handy! I have recommended this to friends. The straps are loose so baby does slip down a bit but nothing dangerous in my mind,… Read more
although we didn't put her in it until she was around 6 weeks. My great aunt made a cover for it (apparently this was the thing to do when she had one years ago) and that solves the problem with the straps, apparently the pattern is still available to buy... Simple, tested design. Built to last.
Good – This was my first choice for a baby bouncer mainly because of the price. It retails for around $40 (or cheaper if you buy second hand), compared to all the other bouncers on the market where I couldnt find one for under $100. The other reason this was a favourite was because it is breathable. We live in a hot climate and over summer this is… Read more
perfect. All of the other bouncers were made of fleece or a heavier material. And its pretty simple in its use. It allows my baby girl to have a good look around at everything. Such a simple and cheap bouncer. Lightweight and breathable. Has a safety harness but it doesnt actually strap baby in. Close supervision is needed if your baby is active.
Good – I think if you can find a reasonably priced bouncer it is worth the purchase as babies do enjoy these. They are good for use in hot wheather as they have plenty of airflow. My baby loves it when you position the bouncer so her feet are unagainst the lounge as she loves to kick and bouce. This one is a goody and an oldie. I know my own mum used one… Read more
of these for me and my siblings and she claimed we all loved it so she bought one for my baby. My baby quite enjoys it as she can make it bounce all by herself. Quite expensive for what it is. Should be cheaper.
Excellent – Great value & my child loves it. He's 10 weeks & happily sits in it whilst I hang washing or do things in the kitchen as he can easily follow me & likewise I can easily move him around. Price! Also, its light & easy to move around with or without a baby in it. Easy to clean & with little effort bub can kick their legs & wave their arms causing a… Read more
bouncing motion. Its not very stimulating for the baby as its got no bells & whistles so you have to sit there & entertain the bub.
Excellent – I highly recommend the Bouncinette! My oldest child is now 27 and my bouncinette is still fully functional and durable. I brought one home from Australia while yet a single girl, anticipating having a family one day. I've now used mine for 5 children as well as a number of day care infants. I've loved it and highly recommend it! The simplicity is… Read more
awesome, I like that it is lightweight, and easily portable, and breathes so baby doesn't get too hot. I even had infants spend the first few weeks in it at night as it is inclined which helps prevent the choking that newborns sometimes experience. As the babies grew, I could position a "toy bar" in front of it and the baby would be entertained while I made dinner, cleaned, etc. No batteries or gadgets to break! Only good til the baby can sit up, then put it away. Some view the mesh as a danger...I usually had a light receiving blanket around the baby or lining the bouncinette under the baby and never have had an issue with that. My only complaint is it is a bit bulky and awkward to store in between babies.

Good – This is an old style baby bouncer that has been around for years but is still very practical and useful. Baby will love bouncing around and watching everyone in the room as they're off the floor and it's nice and airey so they won't get as hot as they will in other style rockers. light weight, doesn't take up too much room, good ventalation and… Read more
very portable. Keeps baby happy and off the ground so they can see what's happening in a room and therefore makes them happier. You can also bounce them off the sleep too which is a definate bonus! Not made from a wipe-clean material so some of the tougher marks might not come off too easily.
Terrible – I would not recommend this bouncer. If you do buy one, please get one of the soft material covers that are available to stop little fingers getting caught in crochet cover. Safety harness does not do a good job because it is not adjustable. It is good to have somewhere to put baby down when they are awake. These are dangerous as baby got her… Read more
finger wound round in the crochet and by the time my mum checked on her her finger had turned blue. Mum had to cut the crochet to get her finger out. Also the harness is not adjustable. It is a bit big for small babies but as my babies grew the harness was too tight before they outgrew the bouncer so we had to stop using it. Also you still need a toy to keep baby amused.
Good – I love the simple effective, cool design of this traditional design. They are not expensive, perfectly indestructible and completely washable. I love the simplicity of the good old fashioned crochet bouncer-you can't beat them if you ask me a perceived safety risk by some.
Excellent – my overall opinion of the baby bouncinette was that i loved this product was not only entertaining for my child it was a relief for me when i was busy because i could just use my foot to bounce her. i loved the baby bouncinette, it allowed me to do what i had to do while keeping my little girl entertained, i could move her around the house in it… Read more
as it is light weight. very easy to clean and can in a range of coulors which was good, i personally thought that the safty stap/harness needed to be adjustable for differnt sizes as my child was small and the harness was a bit big for her to start off, and if other children are around it could easily fall/get pushed over.
Excellent – I used this lots for bub to sleep and feed in because she had reflux it kept her upright and i could be hands free doing other things. It is also great to use if you are working or relaxing you can just bounce them with your foot easy! Definitely a staple for any mum. Very portable as it folds flat. Has a good elevation position, bounces baby to… Read more
sleep with their own movement, good price and comes in a great range of colours to choose from. Would recommend a cover for soft sleeping and use the safety harness when baby starts to move around too much.
Good – great product especially if it was a hand-me-down, or very cheap. lasts for a very long time (20-30+ years) and you dont have to keep buying batteries!! its light and easy to move from room to room, its easy to clean, comes in lots of different colours, light mesh which is great for summer months (in winter just put a blanket underneath baby) and… Read more
baby loves being in it and learning that she can rock herself! (they become very proud of themselves when they discover something for themselves for the first time! looks cheap and tacky and very basic compared to the more modern bouncers these days. hard to get baby in and out of without hitting their head on the metal bit at the top.
Excellent – This product has been around forever. I think all these new types of bouncers are expensive & unecessary. It is great during summer as the mesh cotton allows air to flow around bubs body & in winter you can place a blanket over the top to keep them warm. Glad they haven't made any changes to this product over the years. Cheap, doesn't take up lots… Read more
of space, simple, easy to clean, great in summer as baby doesn't overheat by all the extra uneccesary padding. Baby can easily bounce themselves once they are big enough to kick their legs. Heaps of colour's to choose from. I had a baby with reflux & found that he would throw up as soon as I'd put him in it. I couldn't bounce him until he was much older. Not a problem for others.
Excellent – I had 2 of these bouncers, both hand me downs. I had one in the loungeroom and the other in the bathroom. Was always easy to rock and kept our baby settled especially at meal times, it was easy to bounce with the tip of your foot. No batteries and no lights and toys to over stimulate the baby and baby always fell aslepp in there. The best… Read more
bouncer out! A great invention and a must for Mums. Very cheap and very easy to clean. Can be passed on when no longer needed. I found it a little hard to buy new covers.
Good – I love this old design, I pop my baby in it when I'm entertaining her. However I have to be near for her to be happy in it because It dosn't have any bells and whistles IYKWIM. It is lightweight and easy to store. the mesh helps keep the baby cool, with all the air flow. It's sturdy It's boring

Excellent – I had one as a child, my husband had one. It has been around for years, so for a product to be around for more than 30 years it has to be a goody. All made in New Zealand you know a lot of hard work has gone into making the bouninette. It has become my little girl's seat in the lounge room, she watches TV in it, falls asleep in it, bounces… Read more
herself crazy in it and best of all it is easy to pick up and put into the car to take to a friends place. A good old Kiwiarna product. Cheap, lightweight, comes in many colours, netting is washable and most of all keeps baby happy The 3 point harness stretches, but a baby saftey pin helps to correct this.
Excellent – Was a hand-me down, what a blessing. the person who gave it to me said his kids were all grown now and no longer needed it. This is something that will be around for many more years. Construction is great and a cover could easily be made to fit over the frame if the old one ever became worn. THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY!!! Cover is easy to remove and… Read more
toss in wash. Made with no Bells and Whistles so Mom has to interact with the baby. BIG PRO!!! I liked the sturdy construction of the frame. I liked the open weave of the material for the summer, would make it much coolr for the summer. The harness is stationary. I would like it better if it had clip closures on each side or velcro. Make it easier to get baby in and out. I also wish the material was a bit softer although I did like the open weave.
Excellent – I didn't actually buy mine, it was given to me by my mum making it around 30 years old! But its as new and my baby loves it! We use it a lot to soothe her as she loves the bouncing motion. I'm so glad I didn't buy one of those battery operated contraptions - I saw another reviewer say that there's nothing to entertain baby so you have to do it… Read more
yourself, no offence but I think thats a positive! Cheap, pass it on to your friends or kids when they have kids. Great for summer as its cool. Need to put a rug or something over it before putting baby in as it can dig in a little
Excellent – My baby loves these old fashioned styled bouncinettes. As he gets bigger the safety harness isn't something I'd trust (but that goes for every safety harness). I can carry him around the house and he is happy to sit there watching me. He finds the bouncing calming and it helps him with movement. I love the fact that he gets feedback from the… Read more
movements he makes as I think that has to help with body awareness. They also last for ages so can be passed along in the mother swap chain. And no expensive batteries. I love the fact that the baby gets feedback from their movements Not as flash looking if you are into that
Good – I had one when I was a baby and I love that they are still around today. My son has another bouncer he received as a gift and he whinges to be taken out of it after 5 mins. With this one I can take him from room to room and he will sit there very happily. My son is quite happy to sit in this bouncer for much longer than others we have tried. It is… Read more
far less expensive than the wizz bang models on the market. I can adjust the position so he can sit more upright or lie back. The harness isn't the greatest and the netting is a bit uncomfortable but I place a thick rug on it first.
Excellent – I have had my bouncinette for over 8 years, and it's been used by friends and family, and now been returned for more use. We made a slip cover with a little padding in it for comfort, but it's easily washable, extremely durable. The cover is removable for full clean, the metal doesn't rust and keeps it's bounce and can be transported easily. We… Read more
also used ours for early feeding, as it's still slightly inclined but holds a baby that can't quite sit up in a high chair. Will be used for years! Covering can be a little rough on skin
Excellent – Would definitely recommend them. They are very affordable and they look great. I wish I had bought one for my first child, although ours still gets use as a chair for all the dollies in the house. They are cheap enough to be a nice baby shower present. Bought this for our third child and it was fantastically cheap and looks good too. Our… Read more
daughter loved to lay in it, and it was easy to take her outside in it, and also take it on outings. It is quite sturdy and is very easy to wash. The three point harness sometimes needs some reinforcing (a safety pin is suitable.)
OK – Great cheap buy, had lasted well untill my 2year old decided to use it as her chair and it has started to fray. have never had trouble with it and none of the children have been hurt, as the netting gives way when they lay in their and holds them snug. Doubles as a toy for dolls when they have outgrown it. Simple and cheap a bit to basic when in need of entertaining your child.
Good – This is a great bouncer and both my childern love it. You can control the bounce so infants can just do little bounces and as they get bigger and more controle over there body you can do quiet large bounces which my 2 year old likes quiet alot even know he hits the ground. doesn't bounce as much. Comes in many colours. I put a activity frame above them so they have something to play with and keep them entertained for a bit longer Simple, Light weight Lack of entertainment
OK – I think these are a nice, classic alternative to the fancy bouncers available now. I bought mine so that I could sit my baby outside while doing gardening; while I used the bouncer a lot, i never got to the gardening... HOWEVER, as baby gets older and more mobile, they need to be watched more closely in case they get too adventurous and try to… Read more
throw themselves out of it. This product is cheap, simple, easy to store, easy to clean and provides bub with a comfortable place to sit. The lightweight cotton cover is great in warm weather, but you can put a baby blanket over it in the cooler months to keep bub a bit warmer. While it was great when my babies were very young and quite immobile, both my boys tipped themselves out of it as they got older and more active.
Excellent – This is a fabulous bouncer cost wise and function wise. However I will say that baby does seem to outgrow it all too fast which is the same with any bouncer. It is a proper bouncer which my baby preferred over a rocker. I also found baby's posture was better in this bouncer and they didn't seem to sink into it. The great thing about this… Read more
bouncer is that you can buy a padded cotton cover in pretty designs to make it more comfortable for a younger baby. I love this bouncer for baby especially in the hotter months as it keeps baby cooler. You have to watch out that you don't trip over the wire legs.
Good – This great baby bouncer is exactly the same as the one I had when I was a baby. They have been around for as long as I can remember. leaving baby in another room. It is easy to clean and i9s very affordable. It doesn't make baby all hot because air can get through the net like fabrick. Overall I would definately reccomend this bouncer as it a stayer and has been used by many generations of the past and hopefully many more to come also. Fun and enjoyment for baby. Allows air circulation so that baby stays cooler in the hotter months. Portable and lightweight. The design as the metal legs easily come apart.
Excellent – I have had a few modern type bouncers which are good for newborns as they feel safe and snug but this is better for babies when they get a bit more energetic. I love this bouncer. could bounce his feet against the tv unit and it kept him entertained for ages. Your child should not be left in this too long as they will get over tired due to all the exercise they can do. Not really a bouncer they can sleep in.

I find these very awkward. You have to hold the front part at the floor with your feet or it slides away from you.
