Highland HP4SS N/L

High performance cooktop – Our first taste of high end cook top and we've had the 4 burner cooktop for 2 years now and love it. Only difficulty is keeping the glass clean but otherwise can't fault it. I still love cooking with gas and will be looking to put a highland in to any future kitchen improvements. The salesman at our kitchen store stated he had a highland at home… Read more
and at his holiday home which sold it for us. Did take his advice to ensure installed by a Highland recommended gasfitter. Quality and density/weight of the metal components very impressive. Range of heating impressive on the wok burner especially.
Don't buy highland - you will be disappointed. Go Miele – We have the highland hlp42ssn model. Within the first year of owning the cook top and within warranty we had highland warranty people come out and charge us nearly $200 for a 5 minute job. The wok burner had flames coming out the bottom not on the burner ring. The burner was sitting in the correct position as we have owned gas stoves previously… Read more
and understand the mechanics. However we were still charged under warranty as we were told it was our fault. Just this week, 2 half years after installation, all the igniters stop working. I can see this is a constant with other reviews. We have never owned a gas stove previously to ever have any problems. We bought highland because we thought it was a quality product as it is not cheap. Clearly it is cheap and overpriced. Wish we had purchased the Miele along with all our other products. Very disappointing product and service from highland.
Brilliant gas cooktop – This is the best gas cooktop I have used. It is a rugged Australian-made cooktop with great features - much better quality than the European appliances I have used. The wok is very powerful and the simmer option is great for slow cooking - like having 5 burners but using less benchtop space. A shame they have discontinued the model.
OK but Hob Lifts Up During Use – I bought this cooktop because of the 22mj WOK Burner. It appears to be good quality stuff but when in use the Hob gets hot and then bends upwards away from the bench. Other than that the cooktop is OK. On our original cooktop it was lifting around 10mm up from the benchtop, we complained and eventually got the unit replaced a few days ago, the… Read more
brand new unit lifted around 3mm up from the benchtop, so I assume it will gradually get worse over time. Also when we complained about it we got directed to a third party service provider and it took almost 12 months to resolve the issue. I'm not aware that you can even get in contact with someone from Highland. With such a basic design flaw and a "no responsibility" a deplorable ongoing customer service model, I couldn't recommend this cooktop or the brand to anyone. This is about the only time I would say don't buy Australian. Looks OK. WOK burner has good range of heat settings. Serious design flaw that causes Hob to lift when it gets hot. Woeful customer service.
Excellent – It is well worth spending the money on this one. It cooks beautifully and achieves very low heat without going out. It feels like a quality product when you are using it. It also sits flush to the bench top so it looks great as well. Fantastic stovetop. I has a great wok burner which can be turned to very low heat so it can be used as a normal hot plate. Easy to clean. Looks great and it feels like a very sturdy, well made stovetop.
Poor customer service, haven't had product long enough for to rate appropriately – Got the above Highland 6-burner after doing some research and visiting several showrooms - liked the stability, wok-burner, simmer option and found it optically appealing. Had it installed and working for 2 weeks when it blew up last weekend. One burner was on with a pan on it and all of a sudden this big explosion happened all 6 knobs flying… Read more
around our heads, the burners spread across the cooktop and benchtop and even the trenches displaced. Big combustion, no flame though, big shock.
Retail place notified Highland on Monday and asked them to be in contact within 24h - which they did. Upon describing the severity of the incident the case manager decided to replace the cooktop, as it didn't sound like a plumbing problem and the chassis was bowed down into the drawer beneath, preventing it from being opened...Hadn't heard back from them until Thursday pm, SMS-ed and asked what was going on, as we were desperate to get it fixed (admittedly our patience isn't at its best after having been flooded in Jan and after 10 months finally moving back into our house 2 weeks ago) - was told that I would get an answer by today am. Answer came, was told that cooktop was delivered from Victoria and due to arrive in the afternoon with the contracted plumber due to contact me once in possession of the piece. I've specifically asked for my husband to be contacted, as I wasn't available until 6pm. Long story short - this hadn't been passed on to the plumber, he tried to contact me, didn't reach me and by the time I did get back to him it was too late. Doesn't work on Saturdays, so no cooktop for another weekend. Very disappointed, I think that when buying a product which is in the top 1/3 of the range you can expect a certain customer service, have a replacement item supplied within 5 working days and would assume that customer satisfaction should be more important to them, given the competition on the market...Wrong assumption.
Apprehensive to see how the story goes on. Still like cooktop, hope it was just that unlucky pick of a faulty specimen Bad customer service
Sounds like it was terrible service..but that is only one part of equation! How does it cook? Can't… Read more
Overrated cooktop – After being fed a line about Highland producing outstanding cooktops and swayed by the large wok burner, we opted for this model as a replacement for the existing appliance when moving to a new house. Within months, water had bypassed the seals around the already erratically-lighting burners and caused tripping of power in the house rendering the… Read more
ignition device useless and causing us to light the burners by match for 3 and a half years, yes, 3 and a half years until the problem was repaired following numerous visits by embarrassed technicians who were staggered at the service the repair company, Teknafix were providing. On at least three occasions the wrong replacement parts were ordered and we would then have to wait several more months for a new set of incorrect parts. As another reviewer mentioned, the communication between Highland and their repairers is abysmal. On at least two occasions, we telephoned Highland days in advance of a proposed visit to advise that we weren't going to be home at that time only to find a card by the front door from a repairer who obviously hadn't received the information from Highland. During the ridiculously protracted affair, we had to deal with Highland, Think Appliances and the staggeringly incompetent Teknafix who, initially, were going to charge us for parts (when they were finally the right ones) but cover labour costs. By the end, we suggested they cover the entire bill which, to their credit, they did. We're looking at moving house again now but at least, after nigh on four years since its regretted purchase, the cooktop finally works. Good things come to those who don't die of old age first. Looked just like the model in the brochure Appalling service and, until repaired, the appliance itself was about as reliable as a Fifa delegation.
Excellent gas cook top – All other cook tops in the store looked fragile compared to this one - it was love at first sight! It was expensive, but is a quality product. The wok burner is great and I love the accessory which allows my coffee pot to sit securely on the rear burner without fear of falling off. Cleaning is easy, as the trivets just simply lift off and are… Read more
easily placed back in position. I still have to remind myself to leave the knob depressed for a few secs to maintain the flame, otherwise it won't maintain it. I am really pleased with this purchase. Sturdy, well built, quality product. Also love the wok burner.
