D-Link DIR-300

Very nice router when used with DD-WRT – Using DD-WRT unlocks a lot for this router making it a powerful beast. A good buy! The only thing I fund lacking is memory as it has only 4MB but it is reasonably fast for the money you invest. I love how it comes with two mounting methods straight out of the box; one with a stand and one with wall mount screws. Also a plus for the "info" sticker. Cheap, easily installed DD-WRT, ethernet cable, sticker Lack of memory, short printed manual, too much packaging
Good – I am no computer expert but I can find my way around a computer with the right directions. I found this relatively straightforward to install. It comes with step-by-step, easy to understand and follow instructions and if things are not going to plan then it gives possible step-by-step fixes. I did find making D-Link DIR300 wireless network ‘secure’ a little more difficult than I would have liked. I guess I thought that this step was something I should be doing via a program on my computer or through the set-up process, rather than logging onto an external webpage to complete - but my saying this is probably just illustrating how little I know about computers and computer routers! So, the fact that I (a computer amateur) am using a secure wireless network connection now must then illustrate how good the installation instructions given with the D-Link DIR300 router are. As for its performance, I find no difference in speed when accessing the internet using the wireless network connection than if I was on my computer using the cabled internet connection. Also, I did not notice a difference in speed when I was using the internet on my laptop at the same time my husband was using the internet on the cabled computer. Affordable. Relatively easy to install. Does what I wanted - makes my cable broadband wireless. Having to log onto an external website to 'secure' my wireless network - I (a computer amature) would have thought that this could be done as a step in the 'step-by-step' process of setting up the router.
