  Verified Sleeping Duck

The mattresses are amazing. The rest is 'meh' – We love our Sleeping Duck mattresses. We have 4 of them and have recommended them to others, who have tried them out and also decided they make a fantastic mattress. Support has

always been friendly and accommodating. However I do have two complaints about the company.

Firstly, their promotional sales never seem to be genuinely in the interests of the customer. It always seems to be about what products they need to either get rid of or attract more customers to. With 4 mattresses, we don't need yet another mattress multi-buy offer. With limited shipping of their bed product - which we can't receive - we don't need to be targeted for a bed deal. Their sales are completely pointless for us. Be smarter with your sales! I've complained to them directly about this - I hope someone finally listens.

Secondly, keep some sheets in stock! They are constantly out of stock of the sheets colours and sizes we want. Their inventory management on this is so bad that we've just ended up buying elsewhere.

Buy their mattresses and enjoy, but then don't get caught up in their "sales".

  OptiComm

Frequent extended outages in northern Cairns – Extended outages occur on almost a weekly basis affecting 4 large housing estates in northern Cairns. Sometimes the outages can last 36-48 hours and occur again a few days later.

Many people here are switching to Starlink because the Opticomm service is so unreliable. Additionally, the local politicians have become involved and are discussing this situation with the Minister for Communications. Opticomm's reputation is now terrible here.

Excellent product and service. Better sales need for existing customers – We love our Sleeping Duck mattresses, evidenced by the fact we have 4 of them! Landing on the mattress at the end of the day is one of those 'ahhh' moments. The product and the

service are top notch. We didn't need to wait the 2 weeks to customise our second purchase of a king bed because we already knew our comfort preference. The only area Sleeping Duck really need to improve is with its occasional sales, particularly for existing customers. They are very selective with what they offer on sale (even down to the colour of sheet sets) that it seems for the benefit of their stock levels rather than customers. Just throw us a bone occasionally with 20% off everything. Also, white sheets are out of stock too often.

  Verified Temple & Webster

Expensive regional delivery – I understand that delivery to Australia's far-flung cities isn't easy and doesn't always make great business sense. However, Temple and Webster really need to lift their game on

this. For Cairns, an expensive quote of $860 to deliver a sofa and $490 to deliver a dining table makes it simply cost prohibitive to shop with them. Meanwhile, it's possible to get free or reasonable delivery fees (~$150) on similar bulky items from physical stores and other online furniture and appliance companies. Do better!

  Verified AMP Bett3r

Innovative account with disappointing rewards – AMP's Bett3r account is actually 3 accounts that work together to enable a 'money-jar' budgeting style. There is an account for bills and outgoings (Pay), one for goals and

savings (Save) and one for leftover cash that you can spend without feeling guilty (Spend). The product can automatically allocate an amount to each account based on your income cycle and depending on what you have told it about your upcoming bills and savings goals.

The product comes with a debit card linked to the Spend account. There is also a rewards program that differs depending on if you use the accounts as a Savings account or a mortgage offset account.

Pros

- Once set up, a lot of budgeting for regular monthly or yearly bills is "set and forget", especially if you use BPay or Direct Debit. Bett3r will set aside an amount each month to make sure you have enough for the bill when it comes around.

- Dedicated savings buckets so you can tag money saved for a house, car, holiday, etc.

- Very nice Bett3r mobile app to manage the accounts (although not working in My AMP at the time of writing this)

- No fees as long as you add $2000/mth to the Pay account.

- Fast transfers to other banks, with high transfer limits

- There is a dedicated 'concierge' team that can talk you through how best to set it up for your financial situation.

Cons

- Steep learning curve to set up. Forces you to take stock of your current financial situation and consider how to make Bett3r work best for it.

- Does not come with a debit card linked to the Pay account by default.

- No Android Pay or Apple Pay

- The rewards scheme is disappointing. For savings accounts you earn an extra 1.5% interest but this does not apply to any 'extra' money sitting in your Spend account. For offset accounts, you get a 1.0-1.5% bill rebate and ATM fee refund but, for some bizarre reason, only if you have an 'eligible' home loan with AMP (there are only two loan types that are eligible and they might well change in future).

- You cannot protect an amount in your Spend account from being pulled out by the Pay account if there is an unexpected expense that you have entered. There is a good chance that at some stage you will try to pay for something with your card and it will be declined due to insufficient funds. Make sure you have a backup credit card.
