Unibic Anzac These are a truly great ANZAC biscuit! – These are probably the best on the market (though never as good as homemade ones!). They are great for afternoon tea and perfect for dunking into tea. I have also found that they… are not as dry as other ANZAC biscuits on the market too. Good price, great taste. Maybe they are a bit on the tough side, I remember that I avoided eating these when I had braces. |

Telstra Mobile Telstra was good until something went wrong – Telstra has some of the best coverage in the country (I have had problems with other mobile provider's coverage - I won't mention names). I had only been with Telstra for… approximately 6 months. I have had no problems until that point, the prepaid deal suited me great and the customer service at the store was perfect. However, Telstra was good until my brother his phone lost/had it stolen. I rung up Telstra (as his number was registered under my name and my father's name) to deactivate the number. The operator was very nice and I thought I had successful deactivated his number. I believed that everything was alright. However, a few days later, I began to notice that my phone was not getting any reception, which was odd because Telstra has probably the best service in the country. I went to the Telstra shop. - First trip to the Telstra store The people were very nice, they checked out my phone and found nothing wrong with it. However, upon digging deeper, they discovered that MY number had been deactivated. Obviously, I was upset but they kindly told me to ring up customer service back home and everything should be sorted. - First call to Telstra customer service I rang up the complaints department (as told by the people at the store) and I was put on hold for five minutes, which isn't all that bad. The operator was nice and told me (but not in these words) that Telstra had stuffed up. It was their fault and they will try to fix the problem. I was put on hold several times as the operator talked to her supervisor. In the end, I was told to go to the Telstra store to get a blank SIM and then Telstra would call me back the following Monday at 9.00 am. They would also try to back get the $30 worth of prepaid credit I had only just put into the account associated with my phone number. - Second trip to the Telstra store I went back to the Telstra store and I was given a blank SIM. The person who served me tried to solve the problem for me at the store (at that stage I was not sure how Telstra was going to serve the problem), but as the problem was filed under complaints, I had to wait for the call back. - First call back This phone operator, unlike the first operator I had spoken with, was quite rude. Instead of being called back at 9.00am on Monday, I was called back on Tuesday mid-morning (I stayed home all Monday morning to receive the call) but I was not home. I was finally reached by the operator Wednesday mid-afternoon. He told me that I had got the wrong SIM, that I should have bought a prepaid SIM (which is $2). I also asked him to deactivate my brother's number, as I realised that that issue has not been resolved yet. However, he informed that I did not have the authority to do that and that my father would have to be the one to deactivate it. I had to go back to the Telstra store. - Third trip to the Telstra store Upon telling the person who served me at the Telstra store about my experience with the operator, I was informed that I did indeed have the authority to deactivate my brother's number. He also told me that I should be reimbursed for having to buy a SIM from them. He was also told me that the operator was probably a very misinformed operator who did not know what he was doing. Yet again, the service I got at the store was excellent. - Second call to Telstra customer service I rang the complaints department (yet again) and the operator said that I would be reimbursed what was owed. I assumed this (silly me) would include the $2 I had to pay for the SIM. However, as I had to buy a new SIM, my mobile number changed (much to my annoyance). Nonetheless, I also got my brother's number deactivated and I got back the credit I was owed. The operator was friendly. - Second call back from Telstra. I got a call back call from Telstra, as I had called the complaints department for a second time. He informed me, upon talking to his technology experts, that I could have indeed kept my old number as they could actually reactivate my old number! Imagine how annoyed I was (as I was told this the very first time I called Telstra!). But I was just so angry and annoyed that I could not be bothered to go through the process of reactivating it. He also asked me whether I would like to lodge my compliant officially to Telstra. I said I would because I had lost so much time over the issue, not to mention all the lost messages and calls to my mobile. He said he understood. And that was that. In the end, this whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. And I never got back the $2 I had to pay for a new SIM, though I did get my $30 prepaid credit back. I was not even reimbursed for all the trouble I had - waiting around for Telstra to call me, having to walk to the Telstra store and back (which is an approximately 50 minute trip for me) and for being led around on a wild goose chase by Telstra. All of this happened during my university exam period, which only added more stress in my already stress life at that period of time. And I really hate Telstra now. Everything will be great until some goes wrong. Then you will stuck in the deep end and though I did talk to some very nice people who tried to help me with this issue, I just felt like Telstra could not care less about me being led around like this. I am one very unhappy customer. Good coverage? Very bad customer service. See my description above! |

Selected Review Sportsgirl Sportsgirl: A review from a happy customer :) – Below is my review of the fashion store Sportsgirl. It's a bit biased but I hope you enjoy reading it and most importantly, I hope it teaches you something about the store that I… love! In the following, I will explain three aspects of Sportsgirl: (1) the store (as in the actual 'physical' store), (2) its website and (3) its online store. 1. The Store I adore the clothes at this store! And that is no understatement! The range of clothes and items at this store is wonderful, and I love the style – a bit carefree and girly but somehow retaining a touch of sophistication. Whenever I wear clothing items from Sportsgirl, my friends always give me complaints, which shows (well, amongst my peers at least) how popular and fashionable this brand is. The store is nicely set out and it has a hint of being like an upper market clothing store through how the clothing is arranged in-store. I know this is a weird observation, but it is touches like this that make me come back to the store time and time again. The range of accessories in-store is great too. I love my accessories and some of my best have come from this store. They have a good range of scarfs, beanies, bags and jewellery. In addition, the staff are friendly and they often greet me when I enter the store. Though I love this store, it is on the pricey side. As I am a poor uni student, I cannot afford to go to this store often. They however do seem to have many sales and you can always grab a real bargain if you come at the right time! ;) 2. The Website The Sportsgirl website is colourful, eye-catching and a very easy website to navigate. You can easily browse through the blogs, the lookbook, forums, their own style picture and videos taken from across the globe, and the latest arrivals. The lookbook in particular always inspire me to be adventurous and not to be afraid of being different (well, fashion-wise anyway). I love also the blogs. The bloggers at Sportsgirl cover a range of topics such as fashion essentials, the latest trends, interviews with designers and global travel. It is always nice to see what the latest trends are (though I don’t agree with all of them!). Additionally, it has several competitions a month that you can enter to win tickets and passes to special events, as well as Sportsgirl vouchers. The gift cards up for grabs always seem to be at least $50 and there seem to be many of them to win as well (though I haven’t won anything yet but I’m keeping my fingers crossed!). 3. The Online Store It has an online store which has new arrivals as well as accessories, shoes and beauty products. The accessories in particular are always reasonably priced and I simply love the variety of accessories that the online store has – from socks and stockings to necklaces and earrings. I have always managed to get great gifts for friends from the online store. Most importantly of all, there are many sale items (and always more than 50 different items). As Sportsgirl can be a bit pricey, the online website is a great way to grab a real bargain. There are also other offers that pop up in the ads on the website, so keep an eye out for it! Furthermore, the Sportsgirl Facebook and Twitter pages also provide special discounts to their followers. Annoyingly though, many of the sizes in the online store are often sold out and sometimes I have thought that I grabbed a bargain, but my size wasn’t available! Grrr. Nonetheless, there is also free shipping for purchases over $120 but it is $10 an order otherwise. The orders for me have always arrived quickly, normally within in a few days. All in all, Sportsgirl is one of my favourite fashion shops. It has great sense of fashion, and great stores and online stores. I really feel like a valued customer whenever I shop there and I will continue to shop at this store for some time to come! :) |

Apple iPod Touch Excellent – In all, this is the iPod for all music lovers. You can buy music from the iTunes store but also, you get apps, surf the internet, check your email, check the weather, sort out… your calendar and play games all on this is nifty device. A++++ This is a superb product. The processor is very fast and so I hardly ever get lag when using this iPod. The addition of two cameras is highly appreciated, in particular the video camera which takes good quality videos. It can also connect to wi-fi, which means you can have access to the internet almost anywhere. The design of the iPod is sleek and it is much thinner than I thought it would be. The rear-facing camera is only 0.69 megapixels, has no auto-focus and has no LED flash. The photos are very noisy and are of a very bad quality. Additionally, you cannot use the iPod for disk storage, which is very annoying if you want to use it as a disk drive. Also, you cannot move music/movie files from the iPod to your computer (which is very annoying if you are changing computers and want an easy way to move your music and movie files). Moreover, the metal back of the iPod scratches easily so a case is a must if you want to keep your iPod in good condition. |

Next Byte Good – This is a good Apple store. I wish that there were more Next Byte stores across the country, but with the growing strength of the Apple brand, this should change. This is great… store for all your apple needs. The staff are very friendly and know a lot of mac products. In particular, they offer a great array of third party products. This includes Wacom tablets, accounting software and electric piano keyboards (all suitable for mac). This store probably has the best stock of third party products available for mac that I have seen. The store is very clean and organised, and there have a great range of deals. Occasionally, they offer free items if you buy a laptop. Furthermore, they offer pre-paid mobile internet at good prices as well. However, the number of locations is few and there is not even a store in the ACT. Additionally, when I visited the store, they did not treat me as a potential customer and the questions I asked where answered with vague answers. This is particularly problematic because when you make a big purchase (such a laptop), vague answers do not really get you anywhere. |
