Ambassador Review Glow Dreaming Travel Sleep Easy Great Idea followed by poor execution – I was given this to try and thought it would be fantastic for my Niece (18mo) who will be travelling and visiting us, unfortunately for her; my Daughter (11yo) tried it and fell… in love. The device itself is very straight forward: A Capsule design with a physical on/off switch at the rear and 3 touch buttons on the front. The volume levels of the 'pink noise' are pre-set to low-mid-high. This should have been a slider control given the price point. To get the volume at the right level we had to positing the Sleep Easy in the room, rather than adjusting the volume to where we need it. The light also is pre-set and at the price point should be dimmable. EDIT: To clarify, the brightness and the pink-noise are adjustable. There are 3 pre set levels for each low/mid/high. The Sleep Easy has 3 pre-set durations 2hr-4hr-12hr. The intervals seem to line up with nap, shorter nap, and a full night's sleep. The construction is pretty solid and the plastic has matte finish and a solid weight so it doesn't feel cheap. Battery life hasn't been an issue yet and charging is easy and quick, the USB-C charger matches enough devices now that we've not been charger-less for it yet. The big selling point though is the water-free Scented Oil diffuser. This has worked well and thanks to the small chamber the scent doesn't become overpowering or thick. Overall it's a cool little gadget and my daughter says she is sleeping better and longer with it. She describes it as 'feeling like the sleep I'm in is deeper because I can remember my dreams a lot better'. The materials and construction are good, however the basic features and limited user control puts the $140 price tag at odds with what you get. For $140 the Travel Sleep Easy should at least feature Volume dial, Dimmer dial, App control. As it stands the price and value do not align. |

Star Car Wash Will damage your car. Maliciously incompetent – The only thing worse than the 'Detail' you get at this clown show is the customer service when you try to get it resolved. The car smells like sweaty towels after they 'cleaned… it'. Every surface was sprayed with a generic cleaner. Streaky messes that Star Car Wash thinks is ok: - Sunroof - Windscreen - Instrument Cluster - Center Console I wiped these down with a tissue and it became greasy, and yellowish-clear. The car requires a full detail to undo the damage these fools did. It's is likely they have faded the leather by spraying plastic cleaner all over it and letting it streak down where they simply couldn't be bothered to spray it. EDIT: Paid $200 for the "Interior Detail" - Which apparently does not include wiping off whatever they spray on. And certainly does not include vacuuming your seats. |

Ambassador Review Tefal Turbo Cuisine & Fry CY7788 Great Pressure/Slow Cooker with added Air Frying – After daily use for two weeks I am still very happy with it. Cakes have come out spongy and moist every time. I didn't risk putting a cake tin in because I worry about scratching… the coating. But it's worked out every time, the cake just has a different shape :) Soups have been fantastically easy, for the most part the ingredients just go in and I get my soup when it's ready. If you need to add ingredients in as you cook; it's easy to do. Stew's and Casseroles - Perfect Air Frying has been fantastic too, I had no Air Fryer in the house but once I started using it, it's quickly replaced 3/4 if not more of the usual Oven use. All 'deep fry' foods I've prepared in the Tefal have been significantly better overall than preparing the same food in the Oven. Chips and Chicken wings are fantastically crispy and ready in half the time, since I don't need to wait for the Oven to heat up. Steaks have come out of the Air Fryer too and it wasn't terrible, not Cast Iron steak with Garlic and Butter. But still a good outcome for significantly less effort. And it lets you Sous Vide! The smell it produces during Cooking is almost absent, the Air Fryer will obviously share the smell of whatever your cooking with the rest of the kitchen as it ventilates. The seal on the pressure cooker is good and the venting mechanism is well designed and built. Your hand is well clear of the steam release valve, my previous pressure cooker gave you a generous 2cm from the valve to your hand when you push the release. The electronic menu works well and is straight forward. There are some quirks you need to be aware of so hang on to the manual as it explains how the lid/vent/settings work together for certain cooking methods. ie: the lids needs to be on but unlocked to bake. and so on Air frying is straight forward, select what you're trying to make, adjust the timer if you feel the need and off it goes. A half time beep lets you know that it might be a good time to turn whatever is inside. The rubber ring on the tray is great and keeps your Teflon coating nice and unscathed. The build is very solid and clean. Storage can be a bit of a hassle with 2 lids, but I would say it takes up half the space you would need if you had a Pressure Cooker and a separate Air Fryer. Cleaning is fantastic, it could only be easier if it cleaned itself. Ultimately: Do I need an Air Fryer/Pressure Cooker? If you don't have a Pressure Cooker, I would recommend the added functionality of the Air Fryer. Having a stand alone Air Fryer offers more features, but to be honest I've not found myself missing the hassle of my stand alone Air Fryer. If you've never slow/pressure cooked before, give it a try. The variety and quality of meals you can make is incredible, and it really is pretty easy. |

Ambassador Review Sunbeam DiamondForce Professional Wok WWM7000DF This is a HOT Wok – I've been skeptical of Electric Wok's since I first experimented with one as a 20 year old in an apartment and I produced some subpar Kan-Tong and eventually gave up on it. Fast… forward almost 20 years and I am loving the Electric Wok! As a very amateur cooking enthusiast I have tried to get a Wok to work on my stove with little success. You really need a Wok friendly cook top to get the heat right. The DiamondForce ProWok gets hot quickly and in the right places. I'd say in 3-4 minutes you can start stir-frying with that very satisfying sizzle. Pros: - Easy to clean, non stick surface - Temperature control is easy - Heating element is powerful enough to keep up when you throw in your cold ingredients. - It's huge. I make Dinner for 4 with enough for lunch the next day, and that's not even close to using it's full capacity. - Steam release/lock on the lid for steaming. I did steamed Gyoza and they came out great. - Height: the base plus the Wok put the working zone higher than it would be on a stove top. I've enjoyed this side benefit as it means I don't have to lean down/lurch over the Wok. I can stand up straighter and more comfortably. Cons: - It's huge: Storage might be an issue in a smaller kitchen. - Steam tray: this gave the fantastic non-stick surface a few scratches when it was put in/removed from the wok. As a result I've stopped using the steaming functionality. - Difficult to toss. That satisfying Wok toss where you help things along by pushing the ingredients with whatever tool you are using can not be achieved. You can grab the Wok by the handles and still toss whatever you're cooking around but it takes 2 hands and a bit of strength to pull off. - Teflon. You are a bit restricted with what you use on the Wok due to the coating. Easy enough to get plastic/silicone tools but there are purists that will swear using plastics alters the flavor. Overall I still think it's great. The cons are nuances and easily worked around. Every thing I've cooked in the Wok has been spot on and it's ability to get very hot quickly and keep that heat is fantastic. Stir Frying has become a regular thanks to the Wok and I even banged up some non-stir fry meals when I wanted that quick, high heat or I need to really mix some things up. It's made me do a 180 on my Electric Wok stance. I've included pictures of my 10pm "I want Stir Fry" blitz. Sizzle Steak cut to size, Frozen Veg, condiments. I didn't even bother defrosting/blanching the vegetables. Straight in Frozen, while the noodles boiled and then all tossed together. Not bad for about 15 minutes of 'Wok'. If you want to Stir Fry but your stove does not allow it. Give this a try. |

Sunbeam Easy Clean Drip Filter Coffee Machine PC7800 Simple and efficient – This is a simple machine that does what it sets out to do. The name is true to the nature of it, it is easy to clean! Out of the box it's a simple thing, remove the foam, pop in… the water filter, fill it with water, add your coffee, press go. Hot Coffee starts to drip out a few seconds later. Setting the time was very easy and setting the "Brew Later" function was just as easy. I noticed that the coffee I usually use came out a fair bit stronger than I was used to with an Espresso Machine and an Aero Press, so I add in about 1/2 cup less than the manual recommends. Back to BREW LATER! This is the #1 feature I was after, because I just didn't feel like making espresso's at 6am any more. So here's the simplicity of it: Add water Add coffee Set brew time Wake up to hot coffee As a result I have a lovely aroma and a fresh hot cup of coffee waiting for me at 6am every day. All that's left to do is clean the coffee tray, rinse the pot and reload for more coffee. The Keep Warm function keeps the Pot at a good temperature and I've not had an issue with it. The only downside for me is the lid, it feels flimsy and it's soft. As a result it doesn't always line up properly when you close it and it needs a bit of correction. There is a water filter included and Sunbeam wants you to replace that every month. I cant imagine I'll be doing that. But at least it's not a digitally monitored filter that shuts everything down if it isn't replaced. Overall it's a good machine, it looks pretty good, isn't huge, it's easy to operate and it makes good coffee. I'm not sure how the coffee economy is yet (will I be using more coffee than I was before to drink the same amount of Coffee) but it seems to be pretty much on par with what I'm used to. My wife has also switched to this, from our Espresso machine so that's about 2square meters of bench space I got back. (we drink long blacks) |
