Fisher & Paykel 519L French Door RF522A Series Functional, works fine but the door "flapper spring" broke just out of warranty – Quiet fridge with enough space and reasonable function. I like the draws for the freezer. the French doors worked fine till a small part, which I now know is called the flapper… spring just broke. I think the service call is a bit pricey, but they do sell the parts on their order site https://secure.fisherpaykel.com/AU/QuickOrder.aspx there is a $20 postage for a $5.50 part, so I ordered 4 of them to make myself feel better about the postage and with the full expectation that this part will break again in 12 months! |

Uniden DSS 7855 Excellent – we have had this phone for about 5 years. It came with a total of 3 handsets. I have not yet had to replace the battery in any of them. It has a good range and I can walk around… the house without any drop-out. I can also go into the front and back yard without a problem. I have paired up one of the handsets with a uniden headphone and microphone. we can walk around the house and chat with our hands free. very useful. Neat compact. small footprint on table. nice feel to buttons. very clear sound. belt clip weak. To upgrade a phone number in the address book is easy , but you then need to send it to each handset separately. They should have a function where all 3 handsets and the base unit update the address-book together. |

Good – good machine. thought about getting a Dyson, but we have a wooden floor and so that was probably unnecessary. I think the thing that swayed me in the end was the silence mode… and the variable suction. this meant that I can do the curtains etc and I can also use it at night after guests have gone home (without waking up the kids) light, quiet, easy to use. bags easy to order over website and deliver quickly. Cord retraction works well. top tray for storing extra bits is plasticky and will not close unless you put everything in exactly correctly. the bags are a bit expensive and can only be purchased from specific vendors (including website, but this adds postage costs) the side slots in the machine to allow the wand to stand upright are too plastic and fail after a few uses, meaning that the wand can no longer stand. |

Bosch SGS46M78AU / SGS46M72AU Good – all up this is a good machine. We had a Bosh in our previous house and so we leaned towards purchasing another one and have not been disappointed. In the end, the dishes come up… clean every time and I don't have to run the load again. I pre rinse in the sink if the dishes are very messy, but I can get away without doing this all the time. The previous Bosh dishwasher we had broke down once and I was impressed with the knowledge of the tech that came out to fix the machine. (although he did charge by the minute). so far have not needed him again. would recommend. solid quiet machine. cleans well, even heavy loads. looks good. filter at the base of machine is easy to clean. easy to use. can adjust rack easily to fit larger dishes. have used it daily for almost 2 years now and no major problems. On initial purchase, received the free standing version, even though I thought we were getting the built in.Had some difficulty sourcing the brackets required to convert the free standing version to the built in version. After one year of usage, the plastic zig zag bar in the upper tray that supports the stem of wine glasses keeps falling of mid cycle. small plastic clips on the lower tray that stabilise racks have become loose and keep falling off. so far has not affected performance, but it is irritating to have to retrieve them regularly from the filter. |

ALDI Mamia Nappies Good – We use the Mamia as the day time nappy and reserve the huggies for night time. they do the job effectively during the day. I have used them a couple of times at night but they… are not absorbent enough to see you through to the break of day. for me they would fall into the category of "good enough". I match that with the price and use them for the period of the sleep/wake cycle that they work for. the tabs stick well enough. I have only had a few "poo spills" (but I have even had a few of these with the huggies). there are no issues with nappy rash etc. I think if they are cheaper you tend to change them a bit more often. low cost. tabs stay stuck on. does the job. not as good as huggies. |
