I read the directions leaflet to ensure I was using the device properly and still the readings given are widely inaccurate and can change 1-2deg in a matter of minutes - not good considering you're relying on this to confirm whether or not your child has a fever or when they're having febrile convulsions and it's telling you they're '36.6deg' which in actually fact is 40.2deg! do yourself a favour and spend the extra money and purchase the Braun branded thermometer the paediatricians use
