Great idea, poor execution – I bought these pegs a few months back and have waited and tested the pegs before giving this review. I thought that was fair. The idea is great, the execution is poor. Bettering the humble peg is no easy task, but if you are going to do it, do it properly, especially when you are charging a significant premium over the competition. In short, the… Read more

gripping pressure of the pegs is not up to it, except for the smallest of items, think thin socks or babies garments. We continually come home to our washing blown off the line in the smallest of winds. The gauge of the wire and the compression of the spring is simply not sufficient to generate enough gripping force. In addition, it would appear that the surface area of the peg in contact with the garment is not large enough. The pegs tend to twist themselves trying to hold the garment. It feels like the peg design was rushed, the gauge of the wire and spring tension was to a price point which has resulted in an inferior product. I will not be buying again and will recommend to friends to stick with their plastic pegs which actually work and if looked after (not left in the UV) will actually last for a long time. Sorry, I really wanted to like these pegs, but they are simply not up to the task.

Eco my eye ! – Getting them made in China and sent to Australia doesn't sound very ECO to me. So I didn't buy them I went and bought worlds best pegs that are actually made here in Newcastle, Australia ! And they work great.

Stainless Steel Pegs – Buyers should be aware in regards to purchasing any new stainless steel pegs online as many sellers are NOT providing the highest grade stainless steel which are strong and long lasting, photos can be deceiving. The strong pegs are approx. 4-5mm thick, anything less and you are getting a less inferior quality product. 316 Marine Grade are long lasting. Lesser quality pegs have smaller springs, are thinner and may rust.

50+ years of laundry experience – I really wanted to love these pegs. The idea of doing something for the enviroment appealed to me. Yes, they are expensive but if they last forever and do away with plastic waste then the extra cost was worthwhile. I bought two packs of the mixed pegs, mostly small but some large. One pack for me and one for my adult son. Unfortunately the pegs… Read more

just don't work well. I have been hanging out washing for over 50 years so feel qualified to comment on the usefulness or lack thereof of the pegs.

1: I use a peg apron and the pegs are constantly tangled within each other. They are not easy to get one out of the other with one hand while holding washing in the other. I tried putting them in a box instead but still have the same problem.

2: The bottom half of the pegs are too short. The small pegs in particular are suitable only for the lightest of fabrics. They are not suitable for heavier garments, towles, sheets etc. The large pegs are slightly better as they have a longer bottom half. But this brings me to my third issue...

3: The pegs don't grip. Most plastic pegs have striations/serrations to help hold fabric in place. The Eco Pegs are smooth, thus allowing fabric to slip. Also, the spring is not tight enough to grip and hold heavier fabrics. Washing ends up falling off in a breeze.

All of these issues could easily be rectified by a better design. Simple fix. But as they currently stand, unfortunately I can not recommend these pegs.

Not Australian made. False advertising – In the title it states Australian made, upon further investigation. It states they are made in China …. Someone should contact fair trading as it’s false advertisement. I wouldn’t spend my money here. Show details

They are just ok – Brought these pegs a while ago so have given these pegs a fair go. Yes they are stainless and don't rust. Yes they don't get hot in the sun which is handy. Their gripping power is ok at the tip of the peg which means where the line runs through them they don't hold too well. They slide on the line in a slight breeze which bunches up the washing on… Read more

the line which is frustrating to say the least. I want to give these pegs a better review and an see where the environmental aspect comes from but i just cant which is a shame. To be honest, I've resorted to using these pegs only if i have run out of the plastic kind. Find a better way to stop them sliding and I'll happily give them another shot but for now, $80 isn't worth the frustration.

Thrilled with these pegs – Hi, I was gifted these pegs for a gift and absolutely love them! Yes, they do slide a little but they are fabulous quality and I totally see why they are made in China due to production costs etc. In an ideal world they would be made locally. I am actually in New Zealand and near the sea do the alternative pegs snap , I would highly recommend your product.

Not Aussie made – I have been planning on buying copious amounts of these for my family and friends for Christmas. I finally discovered they are made in China... so no pegs for Christmas presents now. I would pay extra to purchase these if they were made here. What a shame.. Show details

Disappointed – I ordered two packs of these for my outdoor clothes line and was disappointed when after a relatively short time they started showing signs of rust...so maybe not good quality stainless steel as they advertise

Great if you enjoy puzzles. Tangled mess – I purchased the 40 regular, 10 large pack. I finally got to use them today after spending a significant amount of time trying to unravel one third of them. They were significantly tangled and might be a challenge for some. Rest seem to be working well so far. Show details

Better than any other pegs – I live in North Queensland and our pegs keep falling apart, from the sun. These pegs look new after 6 months. I have just bought more for my sister as well. Show details

Love my stainless steel pegs – I bought my pegs about 18 months ago. So pleased to have no broken pegs, they don't get hot in the sun and are great on windy days and hold all my washing in place. The company is Australian owned which I love unfortunately the pegs are manufactured in China but I highly doubt any peg is manufactured here. Show details

Love these pegs!! Nice to use, strong grip and they last – We live near the coast in Western Australia and the salt and sun are murder on plastic pegs. They last less than a year. I bought these hoping they'd have some longevity. They're not the cheapest but I've spent so much on plastic pegs I figured they might save me money in the long run. I purchased two twin packs with free postage. I have to say,… Read more

after using them for 6 months, I love them! They grip really well, they don't get hot in the sun like I thought they might and they last. They're really comfortable to peg and unpeg too. The large ones are terrific for thick towels, doonas etc. I have a fold out line with plastic coating and they work perfectly with this.

My only complaint is that they do seem to leave peg marks on clothes as the grip is so strong. The marks wash out, they aren't permanent, but you just need to watch where you position them.

Good in theory, but sucks in practice – This company markets themselves as a “gonna save the world” eco products supplier. And this may well be the case - their products appear to have the cred on the surface. But what’s the point of a product that performs worse than the eco damaging evil plastic one it’s meant to supplant?? They are supposedly an Aussie owned company, which… Read more

manufactures offshore .... probably China. They make other stuff, but we haven’t tried it ... only the pegs so far.

Despite their website showing over 700 reviews from allegedly satisfied clients, it’s interesting that none whatsoever have been provided to product review. So ... here goes ...

We’ve previously used Reva Aussie made plastic pegs, with the last complete batch purchased over 12 years ago when we moved into our new house. We live in rural southern QLD with summer temperatures routinely in the 40’s and lots of sun. However we keep our pegs in the laundry when not deployed. And always retrieve our washing as soon as it’s dry, so our pegs spend the vast majority of their lives indoors.

We were very keen to try these stainless pegs, notwithstanding that they’re made overseas, mainly due to their outstanding (company website) reviews and durability; and the fact that we are “practice what you preach” environmentalists. We have a constant stiff breeze where we are, and are tired of sheets being scrunched up on the (metal) clothesline. We would normally use 6 plastic pegs on a flat sheet, 8 on a fitted, and 16 on mattress protectors, and they often still bunch up.

SO ... given the reviews we trialled a 50 pack of standard and large eco pegs. Having trialled them fairly, we can say that they are actually inferior to plastic in the primary role for which we bought them. It wouldn’t matter if we used 20 of them on a sheet ... they simply slide along the line - more so because they are shiny metal with no particular serrated gripping surface. The grasping area seems fairly cavernous ... perhaps made for plastic lines, although it seems doubtful to us that the type of people buying these would have plastic clothes lines!! We did find if you balance the grip area tenuously on its edge along the line they do grip like hell ... for a minute or two until they eventually “click” into their closed position and slide with abandon along the line. Large, standard ... made no difference whatsoever. The company suggest using the large for items such as sheets ... but these seem to slide even more prominently.

Construction itself seems good, although they have a nasty habit of tangling themselves in your peg container ... and it’s hard to get used to the odd sensation when you open them wide to apply them - it just seems that they are “wonky” and feel like they’re going to spring sideways ... hard to explain, but you’ll “get it” if you ever try them.

Purchase only seems possible online, and to their great credit, packaging is 100% environmentally friendly and commendable.

So ... durability 100%. Ability to meet the design brief ... 10%. Cost ... exactly $1 each. Plastics exactly 10 cents each (according to this weeks IGA catalogue), and we know from experience that these last at least 12 years. So ... just on simple economics we’d have to wait 120 years to recoup the cost of these... or you could put it another way and say they’d need to be 10 times better than the plastics. Not happening!! Did we discuss the “food miles” aspect as well ??

Look ... it’s a beaut idea, poorly executed, and we sincerely wonder about the reviews on the webpage which apparently universally suggest differently. If they made that grip circumference slightly narrower, or perhaps applied some light serrations it may be a better proposition.
