Build quality is not suitable for outdoors! The panel backing is actually MDF, so don't ever get it wet unless you want to see the output plummet due to corrosion. Noticed it was outputting 50w into a flat battery after it was outside charging the caravan (and out of warranty). Thought I would open it up to see if I could fix it, and was damp MDF… Read more
with corroded wires everywhere :-( If you can guarantee to keep it bone dry it may work ok as I tested it @170w when first purchased
I own 2 of these 200w blankets and often join them in parallel and they work flawlessly. I just grabbed 1 on my way out the garage to go fishing for a week to keep my trolling motor battery charged, chucked it on the battery at midday today after 7hrs of fishing and was getting 17.8amps out of it Show reply
Don't waste your money – Don't waste your time with this garbage. Best I can get is 70w in ideal conditions. It's cheap for a reason. Lesson learnt. This one is going in the bin. Show details

power output is misleading. do not buy – It works but definitely doesn't even get close to 200watts when solar charging. I get about 60watts max and that is full sunlight and clear skies you are better off with the 160w fixed panel as that seems to work as advertised. And to clarify this is charging my bluetti eb70. Which is still in perfect condition. To add insult to injury too 4wd… Read more
supacenter did not include my house number when they printed the label so it took 3 or so weeks to get it shipped. If you want quality from kings products go into the store. The sales staff know what is and isn't hot garbage

Works perfectly after 2 trips, 10amps plus into caravan BMS – Bought this 200w Kings solar blanket for an extra roving panel for our caravan and it's performing really well. We wanted a cheaper panel, as we have 3 fixed panels on the van already, and wanted something we could leave at the camp in the sun without worrying about it being stolen. Our van has a power hungry 12v compressor fridge (~5 amps p/h). … Read more · 1
Our van has an external panel input to mppt (Projecta BMS) and internal LCD and/or mobile app to check input amps (see images). I've been monitoring this panel plugging the Anderson in and out checking the app live and have been amazed how well it performs! We are using the Kings 12m cable also for these results (6mm core), and I would expect some voltage drop over this longer cable.
This 200w panel adds an extra 1/3 to 1/2 of what our flat 600w panels on the roof produce. The ability to aim the blanket at the sun allows better performance per panel than the flat roof panels. i.e. my recorded examples plugging in the panel at various times of day have us going from 4 amps to 7amps, 15amps to 25amps, 25amps to 30amps (our BMS maxes out at 30amps). This is great input to get extra into our battery's whilst the sun is out, and allows less yelling at kids to turn off lights at night!
Pro's: - Cost - great value vs other options - Performance - 12 amps on the first trip, 10 amps consistently second trip (less sun) - Size - easy to store, small package for large watt panel
Con's - Does not have a stand (I put it on the car windscreen, or camp chairs etc. to direct at the sun) - Build quality vs more expensive panels (but this unit is much cheaper..) - Longevity - so far so good in May 2024 (will endeavor to update review if this changes)
Keen to try other Kings products (inverter/additional battery), open to ambassador programs @AdventureKings!
The output has dropped by 30% over 3 years – After 3 years my both the 200w pannels are now giving 70% of and the time output they originally gave. When new my BMS showed 10amp each and now I only get 7amp. I think this is an unacceptable degradation of performance after 3 years and used 2 months a year. I also have the same issue wigh my 120w panel. I will not buy Kings solar panels and again. Show details

Kings 200W Blanket Poor performance – I have 2 x 200w blankets, the ampage output is very bad, you get very little charge out of them. I put a meter on it alongside an itech blanket. Kings- barely 1 amp / itech-over 3 amps. both in same position. Tested again in full sun Kings- 3 amps / itech 9 amps

Can be hit and miss – Surprisingly good. I have had two of these blankets the first I had never got more than 4 amps out of it but the second I have seen the advertised 9amps+. Kings are known for not being top quality gear but the batch my panel came from must have been one of the good ones Show details · 1
Definitely not 200 watts!! – I have had the Kings 200 watt solar blanket for 3 years now, and am disappointed with their claim. Kings claim of UP TO 16 amps of power can be put into your battery. Over my years of using this product with a Victron 20/100 MPPT controller that monitors solar input in voltage and amps, I have yet to see this Solar Blanket input more than 6… Read more

If you want something small charging a lower power consumption 12v system. This will work.
But don't expect it to put out ANYWHERE near there16 amp claim!

They don’t work – These things barely put out 4-5 amps. At 200W should be capable of much more. 10 amps would be a reasonable amount taking into account losses etc. ohms law doesn’t lie !

An OK-ish blanket (for a little while) – I purchased this blanket about a year ago. I’ve used it a handful of times. Whilst some say it stops working after a couple of uses, I’ve been lucky. It still works. However, the panels are starting to bubble. I’ve never left (or had) it in the rain. On a great sunny day, I’m lucky to draw 6.5amps. I’m not sure where the 11amp claim comes in.… Read more
I’m yet to see someone say it produces the amperage Kings says it will.
What is disappointing is the fact that Kings ‘passes it onto the product team’, yet they are still making the same panels.
I’m only writing this review as a friend picked up the itechworld 200w blanket. It was better in every aspect. Yes, it did cost more. But I’m happy to spend more at kings for a more decent panel.

Not worth it, invest in a quality product – I bought one of these a few years back not knowing much about them. It's been used 3 times in that time window and after plugging it in over the weekend, it went from working and charging the battery to dead. No support from kings and was told it must be wear and tear and couldn't possibly be a product fault despite been kept dry and packed in… Read more

Keep dry at all times – I bought one in July 2021 and after it got wet in unexpected rain it didn't work at all. It just stopped producing power even in full sun. 4WD Supacentre replaced it after I sent videos and photos of it attached to a multimeter. I kept the new one dry at all times and used it on a folding table in my back yard, but one day I packed it up after… Read more
dark and noticed that the surface was damp with dew so I gently towelled it dry then folded it up. In the following weeks & months I noticed that the panels were developing a flaky appearance in the top clear coat (or laminate). This got steadily worse and worse. Three panels have become quite flaky and milky. 4WD Supacentre has told me they can't help and won't do anything. So basically, the materials are cheap and it's cheaply made. Don't expect it to last very long if used outdoors. I was happy that they replaced the first one but now I'm going to try to figure out how to remove the rest of the flaky coating.

Totally useless – I purchased the 200W solar blanket in April 2021 and have not used it much. During a recent trip I managed to only get about 3 Amps out of it in direct midday sunlight (30 deg day). This was measured with a Renogy battery monitor and an inline power meter. I contacted customer support and informed them of this information and was then asked to… Read more
submit a claim. This I did, noting that I knew the product was out of warranty and did provide photographic proof. I then received an email requesting some multi-meter readings which I provided along with the inline power reading as well. This again was carried out in direct sunlight but the current battled to reach 2.6 amps. Today I received an email stating that the claim was rejected, with no explanation as to the reason.
Copy of email: Claim Details • 1 x 200W Solar Blanket with MPPT Regulator (AKSR-BK200W_06) - Outcome: Rejected - No Contact
I have attached some photos showing the latest measurements and included a comment from their website "this blanket can output 18.1V and 11.05 amps and if you plug it into a Kings MPPT solar regulator, you can get 16A of charge into your battery" - don't believe this!
Please don't waste your money on this product.

Not advertised power and failed – I purchased 2 of these and one gave out 115w and the other 47w straight out of the box but because i was on fraser island and no shops i used them. Took them back and because it rained in the last couple of days they won’t warrant them. I didn’t buy a coffee machine. I bought a solar device. So we can’t leave them out over night or leave the camp in case it gets wet. Very poor device and not written anywhere that it can’t be left out. Show details

0.05A IN FULL SUN! DONT BUY – Had bought a 120w solar blanket from kings on 12/12/22 and in failed within in a few hours of testing it out so I went back to the store on 15/12/22 and decided to get the 200w solar blanket instead which I paid for in full as they won’t refund me for the 120w until they tested it… ok fine. to test it and no reading on the kings MPPT solar controller so I plugged in my inline voltage meter and there was nothing coming through so I then plugged it directly into the solar blanket and it only read 0.05A. To say I was frustrated is an understatement! So I put in a claim online with pictures and called the warranty support number. They refused to do anything about it even though I had literally just purchased it. So I took it back to the store on 17/12/23 as we are going away in a few days to hopefully get a replacement with a video of how it was set up and the reading on the inline voltage meter, they told me they couldn’t do anything until their “guy” tested it…… I gave them video proof and it still wasn’t enough evidence. They told me I’d have to come back after they had tested it so they wouldn’t just replace it while I was there. I live 30mins away and had already spent 2hrs driving back and forth! I mean the thing was brand new, Why would I want a replacement just hrs/days if it wasn’t working?! The girl at the desk was sympathetic but said there was nothing they could do as it was policy. What a joke. It hadn’t worked from new and they wouldn’t do anything

Up to 16 Amp output!? Absolute nonsense – I like the portability it offers. Lightweight, easy to store. After testing it regularly for more than six months under a variety of conditions the stated output rating is completely false. Summer days, between 10:30am - 2:00pm, clear skies, bright sun, the most it would put into my lithium battery has been 7 Amps / HR. Wouldn't buy another one. Show details

The same output as my Kings 110W solar blanket – I have a Kings 110W blanket, I liked it and used it. Bought a bigger battery so I decided to buy a bigger solar panel. Bought the Kings 200W and found it's output was the same as the 110W. I was advised by the online warranty process to take it to a local store. They tested it compared to my 110W, and sure enough it was the same output in the… Read more
same setup, charging the battery at 69W full sun at about 11:30am. They said, well this is still working and that's what you should expect. I pointed out that it was the same as my Kings 110W bought in 2019, they said, yeah look at the panels in the 110W, they were better quality, these are different ones now. I couldn't get anywhere with them but they did bring out another Kings 200W from their shop to test it. I kid you not, it only put out about 35W in the same sun, same angle, same setup, they were dumbfounded, as was I. I didn't go home with a new blanket and the online application was denied a few days after. The office spoke with the shop and then emailed me to say that my blanket was working as expected so no return/refund.

the 6 were in this condition and was offered a 10 dollar store credit but no exchange. If the panels are scratched then it's damaged, correct? Disgraceful.
