Yes, price dropped twice they work with plenty power, you will buy Other parts, chisel s , sharpening stone set from EBay power seller, not such a cheap hobby to retire too. At College, wood and metal Lathes guys where trained how to make , do many things with Lathes .These years gone past, people don't No anything about it, sewing and cooking class s must be more popular Ah ha, it's good fun *****

Many thanks for your info, I have recently joined the Wood Workers Assoc here in Gosnells WA, good crowd of oldies, lots of lathes and machinery. And great help, I just thought I could do something at home as well, did you get yours from Aldi ? I recently bought a power blower with the same maker as the lathes, a great buy, nearly take off with it Cheers.

when you pull the locking lever towards yourself to lock it , you will then need to lift the lever slightly and move it back to the away position and then repeat, it will work trust me , i had the same problem.

Hi Phil, Can 14 TPI thread fit the European 1.5mm thread? Do you know who sells the inserts?

Phill L.

Hi there I purchased the 14 tpi insert which fitted perfectly on the 1.5 mm thread. The only problem is the insert suits M40 thread for the chuck. I purchased this from Timbercom Australia $17.00 AU.

I am unable to unlock the tailstock. the diagram suggests moving the lever in an anticlockwise direction. this does not appear to work. any ideas?

Floyd

Not sure if you worked it out, but you need to turn it a few times to unlock and lock the tailstock, lifting the lever to disengage the locking nut between turns (the lever is essentially a captive spanner).

this was done a number of times but tailstock still appeared jambed

Same here can't unlock it and bought it a few months ago as a present and have only just discovered it won't un jam hopefully they'll refund me

How do I lock the Ferrex lathe, it unlocks easily but am having trouble to lock it, what do I do?

mike D

the diagram suggests turning the lever clockwise to lock it

i only got the tailstock to work by cutting the jammed bolt and holding the tailstock with a g clamp. ferrex expects plastic to do tasks where only metal is suitable
