  Paint Sprayers

We bought this a few years ago and put it away, and didn't end up using it till this weekend. We read the instructions, assembled the little that needed assembly. The painter primed when switched on (return line flowing), but when we turned the dial to "Spray" we got nothing. The pump was still on, but nothing was happening. We turned the dial… Read more

back to prime and got nothing. We checked that there were no blockages, and tried again - nothing. We've had it too long to take back so it's in the recycling bin without ever actually working. Complete rubbish. I am one and done with Ferrex.

Biggest disappointment ever! I was regularly using my Wagner Spray gun and was getting very good and smooth results, the only issue was that for large scale, it was strenuous on the wrist, neck and shoulder because the gun itself is a bit heavy and the filled paint container added to its weight as well. So I thought this spray station would be… Read more

perfect for larger scale projects (like my living area ceiling), unfortunately, I didn’t read the reviews until I’ve used the machine.

Out of the box the machine looked promising, especially for such a price, seemed like a steal, I assembled it, didn’t face any issue with leakage like what others experienced in the reviews.

I followed the operation instructions in the manual carefully, but got a very week pressure of paint as you can see in the attached video, (clogging was out of the question as the machine was brand new and the paint was fresh) I then repeated the procedure several times until it started working, I started painting the ceiling, but noticed that both ends of the spray radius were not misty, but rather a stream of paint, which of course resulted in inconsistent paint pattern! (As per the attached pictures)

The nozzle I used was the correct nozzle for viscous paints and the paint was Dulux Wash & Wear, which is the most common type of paint used in Australia, so I don’t believe that the paint was the issue.

Conclusion: absolute disappointment and I will be taking the machine back to Aldi

  Ferrex Paint Spray System 650W

Great Value For Occasional Use – FEREX model JS-FB17AII Paint Spray System Looked cheaply made but it's actually well designed and built to tolerances that allow it to work quite well for a long time. As a product design engineer I was fairly impressed; this is a testament to what can be done with basic assembly if you think about function and manufacture (think Ikea). I don't… Read more

expect it to last forever but for $50 excellent value. It worked very well for me and painted sheds, garage doors and tanks to a good standard. To specifics: - its fairly light and comfortable to use, with a generous air hose length to work over good distances, and the motor unit nests easily on the top of a ladder for working at height - pump motor is minimum size and screams away like a loud vacuum cleaner in operation (its not quiet) which was not a concern for me - motor warms up during use and is blowing warm-ish air through the nozzle. If you work continuously is sprays consistently but if you're stop-start you can get paint jams that are easy to clear with a couple of pumps of the trigger (took me a bit of fiddling around adjusting flow to figure that out) - instructions are clear and easy to read

Be aware paint spraying has a lot of variables and the experience has as much to do with the user as the machine. You have to clean it (easy with this unit), adjust paint viscosity correctly and use good technique.

Better than expected – Bought the unit from Aldi October 22 for $199, just got to use it on the new house ceilings. Read other reviews after purchase and was thinking I had blown my money. Yes there was dust inside the box and the instructions are a bit sparse on the filter location and lots of tightening to fix leaks in the line. Priming works better if you " blip" the… Read more

switch rather than just running and don't turn the prime switch 90 degrees, 45 works better. Yes it is a bit noisier than other massively expensive units but really not an issue. Once all the bits were sorted, painted first coat on 364m2 of ceilings in about 2.5 hours, so much less effort than rolling and very impressed with the unit for the price

Gets the job done – The manual had some error's. Like omitting where the small cylindrical filters went.( Inside the handle of the gun). The gun head and hose seals started to leak in use. This was rectified by judicious tightening of the components. Once I got it all tightened it went suprisingly well. Can spray large amounts very quickly with minimum overspray. I… Read more

would replace the small clear return hose with a longer one. And get a weighted container that you could attach the return hose to. When you changed from prime to operate it would sent a pressurised squirt of paint out the hose and either knock the return container over or dislodge the hose. I found that the nozzle was prone to blocking. Rotating the spray head usually fixed this. Having a small container of gun wash close by to clean the spray jet would be handy. I sprayed my tandem trailer with Quick Dry enamel. It's better for bigger areas as it takes a minimum of two litres of gun wash to clean it.

Deco Style Paint Sprayer – Got this thinking would be like the workzone one I got goods use out of for a few years. This one is so chinsie, cheapest metal I have ever seen; marketed jokingly as Chinesium, haha. I have returned it, like a returned a two other electric tools since the ferrex replaced the workzone and Aldi value profit over quality customer experience. Bring back the quality or just stop supplying tools. Show details

Don't bother buying – Brought this unit thinking may be an improvement on the ferrex. Aldi had it for $199, so seemed a good price Opening box everything seemed ok, except the unit itself was dusty despite the box seemingly sealed there was also no plastic covering the unit which I thought odd. Connections fitted ok but as tried to prime it as recommended it didn't… Read more

suck any paint up. I checked the fitting to make sure they were tight but no luck. The unit is also surprisingly very very loud. Going to return back to Aldi for a refund

Built to a price – I've painted a bunch of stuff very quickly with this machine. I purchased some different lower volume tips and now the pressure switch has failed. The actual reed switch activated by pressure is fine. I think it's the cheap triac that has pooped itself. It's a shame that component of less than $2 stops the whole machine from working. I'm going to replace the basic crappy triac circuit with a decent relay and see how it goes. Show details

Aldi airless sprayer comparison WORKZONE to DECO – The WORKZONE Airless spray gun is 100% better than the DECO. I left my WORKZONE gun at my mother in laws, so I was in Aldi and saw the DECO gun big mistake after one job that took me 5 hrs instead of 2 hrs it went in the bin not even worth cleaning, I had to thin the paint by 30% instead of 10% hence more coats, even then it kept blocking up. The… Read more

only use I can see for this gun is maybe for spraying wood stain or fence paint, or cut the cable off to make a short extension. The WORKZONE is the best.

Painted the side of my house in 3 hours – Mine is the newer Deco Style 1000W model bought late 2019. Finally got around to using it yesterday. Took a long time to prime with water- about 90 secs. (Much longer than the 15 secs in the manual.) But once finally primed it worked well. Comes with a standard 515 tungsten nozzle which gummed up to the point of stopping, once during the… Read more

hours of painting in 27C heat, but was easily cleaned. I've used professional airless guns before and the Aldi seems to be a bit noisier- hydraulic tapping sound from the piston- but still works well. Easy to clean. Impressed, so far... Forgot to add that I had to re-seat the small, badly installed, filter oring in the gun handle before I started. (Would not have caused it to leak just gum up.)

Dead on arrival - updated as it now works – oh I wish mine leaked liked others who have reviewed it but alas no....mine doesn't even suck up water. Called the help desk early this morning and they said they'd call back. Now it's the evening and of course no one did. Don't think I'll bother with any more Special Buys. Show details

Had to tighten it all up, dad had to even replace the o rings – My airless aldi special buy leaked too... it makes me wonder how safe it is. If ozzito recalled theirs from bunnings (also made in China) because paint could get into electrics than this machine is dismal as the ozzito was better quality. I plugged it in and did a water test and it leaked. My gun leaked from the inside ehind cover that hides the… Read more

piston. I fixed it by tightening the components. Also the o rings are crap my dad also brought this machine and it lwaked everywhere, so as I can see this machine wont last long or get any paint job done. It looks good but is not well made i(in china) im about to take mine back.

Leaked from everywhere – Set up with water and it was leaking from connection and the internal pump. Water would squirt from around the piston inside unit every time it stopped leaving a pool of water underneath. Put it back in box and picked up a roller. Disappointed, very.. Show details
