Alex Rub a Dub Whistling Hippos

Great bath time toys – My grand daughter was given the whistling hippos for her first birthday. She was still playing with them when she was 6. One of the best gifts she has received.

Nice idea, poorly executed – These four plastic hippos with rings are colourful and cute, and if they were sold as colour-matching floating toys, that would be great. But they are sold as whistling hippos. Tapping them on their heads forces air through a valve at the top, which supposedly makes them whistle. The problem is that they hardly ever whistle. The valve keeps getting blocked or stuck and most of the time the whistles simply don't work. Sometimes this can be temporarily fixed by blowing through the hippo's feet to unstick the valve, but you will probably spend more time doing this than actually playing with the toys.

As floating hippos in rings, they are cute, and have provided some bathtime fun for my 12-month-old. But they don't work as advertised. Colourful, sturdy Whistles do not work properly
