Excellent 6 1/2" Component Speakers – The R-Series Speakers (previously called Type R) from Alpine are the go-to speakers for most of the installs that I have done, they are a good balance between price and performance. Alpine do make better speakers (the X-Series), but the price more than doubles for equivalent sized speakers - unfortunately for the X-Series, the performance does not… Read more

double.

The mid woofers can handle most types of music, and they will take 100 Watts RMS, for those who don't know what that number means in the real world, it means LOUD. Being loud doesn't matter if it sounds like mud, but the material that the speaker cone is made out of allows it to reproduce both high and low frequencies without distortion. Having said that, I use these speakers more for mids, rather than for mid-bass - but they do mids so very well.

The tweeters are great, but unfortunately they are not fantastic. It's always hard to describe sounds with words, but the best way that I can describe it is that these tweeters make a "sssss sssss sssss" sound, instead of a "tisss tisss tisss" sound. You can't really notice the difference unless you have heard better quality tweeters, but once you have, you will always notice the difference.

Overall, these speakers have a great doof per dollar ratio, and they will do most things for most people most of the time.
