One of my best purchases ever – I've had my Kindle Keyboard for a couple of years and have read almost a hundred books on it. I love the 3G version since I can download books almost anywhere - very handy if you finish a book while on holidays. I loved that I could easily get books that were out of print, just newly released, or not available at the dwindling numbers of… Read more

bookshops. The keyboard is great for adding footnotes, searching the Kindle store, highlighting, finding the meaning of words. It's a little klunky to use but quite functional. The Kindle is certainly lighter and less bulky than most books. It seems rugged and reliable. Mine's had no problems. The price of books on Amazon is reasonable.

Downside? Well it has no backlight, so you'll need an external light source. You're tied to Amazon (although you can read PDF files on it. The text-to-speech function works OK but the monotonous voice annoys me.

I use this device almost every day. I love it.

AMAZING – I love my E Reader I take it everywhere with me! it is so handy to be able to download books wherever I go and whenever I am! I also love how when I have finished books it recommends books to read next that are similar to my previous purchased books! Amazon also have a wide variety of books to suit all my needs and i love the cost of the books which are cheaper then in store!

This is awesome.! – I have no regrets in purchasing this item, i love it so much, it holds thousands of books, easily connects to free internet to download more books, magazines etc, (my daughter even uses hers to access Facebook in a limited capacity), i actually purchased my daughters Kindle Keyboard 3g as a birthday gift for her with a prepay credit card attached… Read more

to it so she could buy her own books, however whilst she was at a sleep over i borrowed it & found how good it was & just had to buy one of my own, best thing i have ever spoilt myself with, i linked our Kindles to the same account so we can share books, there are many free books available also & a helpful review system makes choosing easier, I would not hesitate to buy another one if i lost mine & i recommend it to all my friends.

I chose the Keyboard version as i preferred it to the touch screen & have a friend that works at a kindle retailer & he had said this model was very reliable.

I dont mind that there is no colour , you will need a book light if you wish to read in the dark however as this model is not backlit.

The Battery life lasts absolutely ages & recharging is rather quick.

Why didn't I get one earlier? – I absolutely love it! Up until purchasing my Kindle I have been using Kindle for PC. That was good and allowed me to import ebooks from sources other that Amazon but when my PC was upgraded to Windows 8 everything changed. I lost anything not in my Amazon library. Now that I have my Kindle I have got them all back. It is so easy to use and no I… Read more

didn't spend a lot of time reading the instructions...I found it easy to learn myself. Of course I am still pushing the wrong buttons but that is just me being impatient and acting without looking properly first. Mine will hold about 3000 books - 1200 down, 1800 to go. Shopping on it and downloading wirelessly to it is so easy. If I can do it anybody can do it! Easy to use

Fantastic – One of the best "toys" i have ever bought. My Wife had a stack of books sitting around waiting to be read, They are all gone now because the Kindle has all of them plus many more inside. Sure, it has no colour and no touch screen, the up-side of that is the ease of reading in bright light and the amazing battery life. Even with the cover that has the light in it, the battery lasts months!

Good, but has problems – I love reading on this device and I love that I can download a book anywhere anytime (I highly recommend the 3G version). However, the transition between pages is really irritating (the screen flashes to reset the page and it is horrible on your eyes). Also I had to have my first kindle replaced within the first 6 months of use as the… Read more

screen developed an error which made it impossible to read (it was like a fragmented smudge in the centre of the screen).

Returning the device was a huge hassle as you have to communicate via telephone with someone in the US (different timezone) but once it was resolved I was able to return the device easily. Fun, easy to read, buy books anywhere Technical problems, awful page transition

3500 books, what's there not to love! – Shame Amazon will not support other e-book formats on the Kindle because otherwise it is a great toy. After only a week my 10-year old wants one for Xmas! Love being to read anywhere, having a wide range of newspapers and books at hand, downloading content anytime I'm near wifi, all for A$159, love it. Within an hour of reading I completely forgot… Read more ·  3

I was not reading a paper book. Also great to be able to read foreign newspapers on the go rather than on the laptop, no more eye strain from the glare. e-ink, lightness, no eye strain useless to read pdf, lack of epub support

Awesome – One of the best purchases I have made. If you are a book lover these are a must. The ease in which you can search the Kindle Store for books, look at reviews and download a sample before you buy and the speed at which all this happens is excellent. I did research before settling on the Kindle and the big plus was the e-ink screen which is just… Read more

like reading the written page, easy on the eyes as it is not back lit. I would also recommend you get cover with the light with it for that very reason, it is not backlit, so the light definitely helps in low light. No problems though in bright sunlight unlike the backlit types of ereaders.

The other big bonus I have found that the prices of the Kindle books are usually considerably cheaper than the book itself. The 3G version I have also allows you to download books anywhere and there are no costs or contracts to be signed for the 3G service its free!!!

Finally for the avid reader, the Kindle holds up to 3500 books, imagine the costs savings on book shelves alone.

This is an amazing device, and a must have.

Not that impressed – The problem with Kindle 3 is, now that I'm used to touch screens (first from iPhone and now from my Android smartphone), I can't get my head around the basic functions. It's not intuitive and it's not colourful either. Sure, books are black and white but these days, I expect more from my techno-gadget experiences. I love that I can bookmark and… Read more

highlight text but that's about all I've bothered to learn on my Kindle.

It's great for availability of books and for ease of download (who ever waits for books to arrive in the mail anymore??) but I think I'll get a tablet instead and sell this one on ebay. If anyone will have it. Ability to bookmark and highlight text. Monochromatic experience, no touch screen.
