Antenergy Antpak BP-300
9 reviews
Do your research before purchasing – I bought the Antpak BP300, mainly because of the features stated on the website. I like that is comes with a Dc-Dc Charger, the 300w pure sine wave inverter. On paper, this is an awesome package, especially for the price. I paid $310 delivered. I put in a 130ah battery, which on just fits, so check the height of your battery. I have mine connected… Read more
via the Anderson 12v cig socket into the accessories socket in the rear of my car, and it pumps in around 4-5 amps, so its not going to charge it super fast, but it does work. The 300w inverter appears to work fine, and does the job. I have charged my cordless drill battery, an electric razor, and it pumps up my 240v built in mattress pump. I have tested with a standard light bulb, works fine. I run my 50ltr dual zone Brass Monkey fridge, using the 12v merit socket, and runs my led lights, charges phones, tablets. Charging with solar via the Anderson plug input (not the DBMP INPUT). so all in all, its good.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE, the plastic case, is a little on the flimsy side, and the plastic is a little distorted in places ie around the latches, the plug inputs, but its not that big of a deal, as it does the job. My master switch was faulty, so I swapped it out for a Narva master switch, this was my doing, as I didn't want the hassle of sending it back under warranty. And the fact that I had dealt with Antpak, and couldn't be bothered beating my head against the wall. And the switch it self was really cheap and nasty anyway. The lcd display, never shows the battery as being fully charged, the most I ever get is 3 bars, even when the battery is fully charged. A bluetooth battery monitor from ebay fixed that issue. When I bought this, the add clearly stated that it came with both AC and DC chargers, the DC charger was in the box, but no AC charger. I contacted Antpak, via their website, and via Email, showed them the pictures from the Add, and the images on the actual Antpak box. When they finally responded, they told me that they aren't supplying them with the BP300 anymore, I disputed this fact. As its stated on their actual product, and their manual, which is not very helpful. I have looked on their website and on Ebay so I can buy it separate, but they just don't sell them. Or atleast I can't find them
SO IN CONCLUSION, yes the item description is correct, yes it does what it say it will do. Antapk are painful to deal with, the manual is vague, the construction could be better, the LCD display could be better. Would I recommend this product? I would say don't expect to much from it, time will tell if it lasts. The price is great for what you get. Would I buy it again, HECK NO.
Antpak DC-20 and 135AH AGM Battery - First impressions – I weighed the Antpak DC-20 up against the other more expensive brands and decided because we may or may not get a lot of use out of it I would go for the cheaper option. At $500 for both the Antpak DC-20 and the Antpak 135AH AGM battery it is very good value. I read all the reviews I could find and contacted Antpak with a few questions before… Read more
buying. First up, I was easily able to find the Antpak websites for the phone number/email address. I called the number and was given a mobile which I called. The person I spoke to was very helpful and answered all my questions. I found that a mix of emails and texts was enough to get all the information required. So I took the plunge and ordered one. The battery arrived by courier very quickly and the DC-20 arrived a bit slower via the ever worsening Aust Post service. My first thought is that this is a very well construction box made out of heavy duty materials. It is not like the $60-$80 boxes that are made of thin plastic. It has two latches on the side to clip the lid down and a fixing system on the bottom which you can bolt down to wherever you are carrying it and it has four adjustable latches as part of it which clip onto the bottom of the box and hold it in place. It has a sturdy strap on the inside to strap your battery in place. The unit is fitted with all the plugs you'll need. 3 12volt cigarette lighter type plugs and 1 12/24V plug which I believe is a Merit. It also has 2 USB ports for charging phones etc. It also has a master switch on the front to cut the power if required. On the back it has two anderson plugs which allow you to connect to regulated or unregulated solar panels, car alternator or car battery. I've been assured that you can plug straight to the battery via the DBMP plug. It also has high current terminals if you want to plug a second battery in. The little monitor on the font shows the battery level, voltage, temp/charging rate. I connected the battery up which was already at a high charge level and started it charging via the 240V adapter and it quickly charged up to 14.2V. Then I plugged in my Waeco CF-40 fridge and pumped it to the lowest temp. possible (-18). Then I turned off the charger and let it go. The fridge successfully ran for 48 hours before I shut it all down. The battery was still at 12.5V. Sorry I can't give you loaded and unloaded voltages etc. The DC-DC 20amp charger and the isolator/regulator etc. is contained in the lid. I'm guessing this is one way they cut down on cost. My first impression of this gear is that it is well worth the money. It is by no means cheap or flimsy. I would recommend it to anyone. I will add to this post once we have used the unit more comprehensively.

Their customer service solved the problem – I brought it from eBay, the AC charger was not safe and I can't contact them for a very long time. But finally, I find their website and called them, they send me another one without charger and refund me the difference. So can't complain... Show details
Great concept – We have used the bp800 for over a year. The concept works well EXCEPT for the ac charge feature which does not work. The ac charger cannot be left on charge for any length of time (say for trickle charge). The BP unit cases the ac charger to overheat and stop working. We have tried 3 chargers all with the same outcome. Frustrating… Read more
after sales service with no resolution to the issue.
Interesting to note that the new models from antenergy are no longer supplied with an ac charger! One can only assume this is because they have been unable to resolve the issue.
So, if you are thinking about buying one... OK if you DONT want ac charge capability, otherwise best advice is to look for an alternative product.
Do not buy...it is possibly dangerous – I have just installed my Antpak into my vehicle. In the 60 days I have owned it and not really used it the isolator switch had broken of. The display is no longer working, the USB ports don't work. Very disappointed. I don't know whether the 240v is on or off and to my mind this is quite dangerous.
Best Value on the Market – Super strange business model and customer service but after dubiously taking the plunge on the DC20 (no inverter) I'm genuinely surprised. It actually does everything it claims to- DC-DC multi-stage charging, isolator, solar controller, AC charger and it actually looks and feels legit from a construction/aesthetic perspective. For half the… Read more
price or less than every other manufacturer- somehow they've put all the features you need into a single unit.
My criticisms are:
- No way of telling which charge mode it's in
- No option for various types of batteries (e.g. My 120 a/h AGM meters at half capacity on the DC20 but is in fact fully charged at 12.8v, as all AGM batteries are).
- Super weird customer service that may or may not totally sort you out- dependent on how hard you push to get what you want. Best of luck with after sales service though.
Realistically at $249- I'd likely buy another if something goes wrong.
If you're tossing up between an Ark vs Antpak vs multitude of other more expensive options, take the punt like I did. I was genuinely very surprised.
Well Made box and easy to use. Probably one of the better optioned boxes on the market for price – Pretty surprised at the quality of this box and the features which are good. I bought the little brother which is the DC20, only difference being it doesn't have an inverter, for the purposes of storing it in the ute tray but also so that I can move it into a tent or around separately from the car. You can fit a pretty decent sized battery in the… Read more
unit (135ah AGM). Other than my minor little gripes below which could be just related to my lack of knowledge I would have given it a solid 5 stars.
The charger socket on the box itself seems a little flimsy and under reinforced.
My one other issue is that I am still a little confused as to if you can connect the box straight to your starter battery without an isolator using the DBMP as the manual seems to be a little unclear. That is the manual on the website is missing the diagram that is present in the one that comes with it that suggest you can but it is still a little unclear. If Antenergy could do a video on Youtube on how to best connect it up and be clearer on the use of the isolator then they potentially could sell loads of these as the equivalent Arkpak seems to be lacking these key points, the amount of sockets and for people like me who just want plug and play and don't want to fiddle with installing isolators it is perfect.
Can now confirm that you can connect directly to the starter battery and the inbuilt battery management systen disconnects.
I set mine up with a terminal to anderson socket connector and the an anderson plug 6m cable into the ute tray then plugged into the dbmp anderson plug and it isolates when the engine is not running
The Positives
Well made
Multiple Sockets including merit, engel, cigar and USB.
Clear LCD status screen
The negatives
Manual not overly clear with regards to isolator and connecting it up.
Charging socket on the box itself is a little flimsy or under reinforced.
Not happy – Not happy at all. I bought a 20AH AGM Antenergy battery three weeks ago and it arrived OK, but it is a dud. Fully charged it will support a 1 amp load for only 6 hours before falling below 11.5V. I have tried to contact Antenergy by phone and by email, but I get no response. I intend to buy batteries locally from now on. I have actually since… Read more
bought one locally already and have noticed that the cost of local batteries in general is not much greater than the internet deals. I'm still trying to contact Antenergy, and If I do have any success with them, I will amend this review. At this stage, however, it's zero out of ten for customer service!
Excellent Product can't fault it – I have recently returned back from a trip to wa with my partner. I have a antpak BP300 with a power sonic PDC series 125 ah AGM. I have a ARB 78LT fridge-freezer which I run from the Antpak via the Anderson connection and had the antpak plugged into the Colorado 7 while on the road. The ARB would run for 2-3 days on the Antpak without any… Read more
additional charging when I was camped, and if I were camping in a area for more then a few days I'd hook up my 150 watt blanket solar panels and charge it either via anderson plug or battery connections. My partner also kept her ipad and ipod charged via the pak, we not once looked liked we'd run out of power. We were also camped on murray river in vic for nearly 2 weeks running the ARB 78LT fridge-freezer 24-7, charging the childrens various electronic items, using it to run our led lighting strip light's at night and to charge my two Fenix CL30R lanterns and only charged via solar panels during the day time and we had power the whole period of time not once was i concerned that I'd have to charge it via alternative way. I'm very impressed with it, and the fact it can be charged by the built in ac-dc charger via anderson connection is a better setup then my arkpak AP730 there is two anderson connections on the box one is direct to the battery and should be used with a solar charge controller but the other anderson connection goes through the built-in dc-dc charger so you can charge without your solar charge controller and also via your vehicle as i done. All up i feel it's better value then my arkpak AP730 for less price, it has a pure sinewave 300 watt inverter, it comes with both ac & dc chargers plus the full mounting bracket kit.You can jump start battery via big currant terminals DC loads it has the following connection's 2x2.4A USB Charger
2x Cigarette Socket
1x Merit socket
1 x Engle socket
2 x Anderson Plug
Built in solar regulator. And suits batteries up to 130AH.
