I am so glad that I decided on this one – My expectation was firmly set for a compact projector with passable image quality and capable of showing movies from USB or via HDMI from a laptop which I can use on holiday time. Therefore I was excited what I will find hiding inside the box and how close in a real life this Aodin Smart Projector would be to its decent specifications. The projector part is actually much better than I expected, works well from about 3 meters away projected on to any white surface for best quality, and I like the fact that no matter the angle or distance from the wall, the device uses its sensors and automatically makes the image straight on the wall - that in itself is worth the cost I paid for this item.

The only fault with it for me is the actual tripod it comes with, it's very unsturdy, and it just doesn't feel safe, so I actually mounted this device on one of my more expensive mini tripods I use with my DSLR camera, and it felt better straight from the off.

The Highest Cost - Effective Portable Projector of Oct. 2016 – What I have here is Aodin Android Portable Projector 32 GB that looks like a thick Android Smartphone. I have two cheap projectors, one was $500 five years ago, and another is 3D Epson. This is my third projector, so I have a lot of experience when comparing. Brightness It has an HD 1080P extra bright screen. Obviously not as bright as Epson, but it's brighter than the other ones. With standard lighting in a room, you can see the picture and read text, a litter dim. Cut the lights and it's saturated and bright. It is a LED-based mini projector that are generally a bit larger than palmtops, but considerably brighter.

Video

You can use a micro SD card, 32 gig is the largest it can take. Played a variety of formats with no problem. But you can get a better app for that. Both Netflix and Kodi are fine. Streaming was decent - you're limited by your network.

Connectors

Features HDMI input with 4k display. (What I have is the 32GB Aodin projector, the 8GB only have HDMI output. ) This can be used plug the XBOX, PS4 etc in the Projector. There's two USB ports for attaching accessories.

Eshare / Miracast / Airplay

Miracast - mirror Android Smartphone to Projector and Airplay - share iPhone, Macbook etc iOS device screen to Projector.

Aodin Projector built in Eshare. I have tested few functions about Eshare on Aodin Projector as below:

1: Wirelessly stream video, photos and documents from Smartphone(iPhone 6S and HTC One) to Projector vice versa.

2: Mirror the screen of Projector to Smartphone/Tablets, touch the screen to control Projector.

3: Download on iPhone or Android Phone, eShare can act as touch mouse, air mouse, keyboard, touch pad and remote controller of Projector.

4: Mirror windows PC or rooted android device screen to Projector.

Keystone Correction

The keystone is automatic, so you can have this at any angle and the image is corrected. The focus is touchy. It's a mechanical wheel next to the lens, and literally 1/16" of a turn changes focus totally.

Sound

It supports audio in MP3 etc formats. There's a tiny speaker that works, and a 1/8" stereo jack. The speaker sound is ok, but plug in headphones or speaker will be great actually. I have tried it connected to external speakers, cut the volume and use the amp in your speakers

Images

In a dark room it's bright and crisp. You can play videos and view images using a variety of built-in apps - it is Android based. It's not going to replace a big projector, but it's a LOT better than those sub-$300 projectors.

Apps

Lots preinstalled. All the apps will update after you setup wireless network. Kodi is built-in, along with all the needed add-ons. It just like any other Android smart device, you can connect aodin projector to your social media and Google account. Additional, it even has Google Maps(no GPS )which would be cool for planning a trip with a group. The bottom has a 1/4-20 thread, so you can mount this on a tripod. There's a mini-tripod included, but low quality, however, the customer service has confirmed that they have replaced the mini-tripod with a strong one.

Portability

Built-in battery that lasts around three hours, plus a 5V DC jack (AC adapter included.)

Networking

Supports 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless, plus wired (with an optional adapter.) You can also connect to your cell phone if you configure it as a hotspot, meaning you could stream Netflix, etc., almost anywhere.
