Not Great – terrible fan. One replaced, the other one wasn't. Very loud on low settings. Don't buy this fan. You should get something else. This is not up to standard at all.
Arlec 130cm White Boston II 4 Blade Ceiling Fan - Useless as Remote Eats Battery every 3-4 days – Bought a year ago from Caringbah. Rubbish. Remote battery dies every 3-4 days (no hard-wired switch so cannot use fan). Bunnings told me to call Arlec. Then Arlec support line said remotes faulty, gave me a part number, said buy new remote via special order via Bunnings (out of warranty). Remote model (SS2803) not on Bunning site. Called… Read more
Caringbah, lady was helpful, chased up with Arlec, then call back to apologies and say no remote available and cannot order as do not known when back order will occur. Fan/remote is not fit for purpose. Up for $220 for a new fan + $200 install now. Shocker. Update, 2 X electricians said they refuse to install these Arlec fans as so as unreliable , often dead out of box or barely last the 12 month warranty. Once remote dies, need to replace fan as you cannot get a replacement remote. So budget $500-600 every 12 month if you use these
Chews batteries – Chews batteries at least twice a year currently every three months - fan is OK but having a remote that needs expensive batteries each summer and each winter is disgusting. Have to fork out for another fan now after buying this crap and paying for installation.
Returned mine Bunnings – Never got mine installed fortunately as one look at the remote started alarm bells ringing. Thing is if the remote breaks or something you've got no way of operating - even if you have another one in a diff room. Remote probably costs $5 Max wholesale yet when I checked with Bunning the replacement cost is $60 when the whole unit new is $180. Rip off. Save up and buy from Beacon or Fans online.
Great until it started chewing through batteries – The timer functionality is particularly useful when going to sleep. Unfortunately, after less than a year the remote started going through a whole battery in a couple of days, making the whole thing rather painful to operate (insert battery, start, set timer, remove battery). Looks like a design fault, as I'm not the only one having this problem.
Noisy and eats 12 volt remote batteries – Bought one of these about 12 months ago for our main bedroom. The Bunnings description was "smooth and quiet". It is neither. It has a weird startup cycle and has a low but constant "gearbox" sound that our other 240V fans don't have. To cap it off, it requires a new 12VDC A23 type battery in the remote every 6-8 months- even if unused....would definitely not buy one again.
