Timer that didnt time – After a terrible experience with a wifi controlled timer to control my water transfer pump I decided to go low-tech with this timer to avoid water loss due to the wifi device not turning off and emptying my tank. And just to be sure I tested this timer for a short 15 minute run before setting it to 60 minutes and heading out to work. I came home to a flood and an empty tank and the pump running dry with the timer still resting on 60 minutes. I cried. I really did. This $15 low-tech timer cost me 50000L in lost water which will cost over $1000 to have replaced by a tanker. Not to mention the pump running dry for 6 hours. It claims extra safety because its double pole switching but what good is that if the timer does not count down. I tested the bloody thing just prior to trusting it. No more automation for me. Technology has betrayed us, even the low-tech stuff. The photo shows it still at the 60 minutes that I set it to.
