Arlec Grid Connect Smart Motion Sensor

This Sensor On It's Own Is Good, The Rest Of The System, Not So Much – If this review is focused only on how this motion sensor works, then it would have a 5 Star rating. The detection range is about the same as everything else, the detection angle is about the same as everything else - it just does it's job without a problem. Where it is let down is the rest of the infrastructure in the Arlec Grid Connect system. This sensor (in fact, all of the Grid Connect Sensors), need to connect to a Grid Connect Hub via bluetooth. This is a problem mostly because bluetooth has a pretty limited range. The end result is that to have multiple temperature / motion / humidity sensors throughout your house, you would also need to have multiple hubs throughout your house. The cost and complexity would add up quite quickly.

The only reason that I invested in the Grid Connect ecosystem is that they are the only smart lighting manufacturer that has a 4' fluorescent tube replacement. If Phillips Hue had them, I certainly would have gone for their product.

The motion sensor is good, the rest of the system, not so much
