poor quality – Dome sensor light: MAL606 first one: worked ok for 3 weeks then wouldn’t turn off. had to constantly reset it by turning Off and on. Got fedup after 3 month and exchanged it for same model as i already had the fixing holes in the roof, Thank you bunnings. Second one: worked ok for 1 week, then it would decide to detect ghosts (was installed in a… Read more

hallway) would turn itself off then turn itself on within 3 seconds (false detection). tried all the adjustments but that would only fix temporarily, then back to chasing ghosts. Returned it for a full refund, thank you bunnings.

Arlec are unsatisfactory – In May 2019 I had external lights fitted to my house. The lights were from Bunnings, the in-house brand Arlec. In the last month two sensor lights have ceased to work properly. One does not switch on and the other is broken. I asked Bunnings about this three weeks ago and there was no reply. It will cost about $160 to replace each light. I am unimpressed with the quality of the Bunnings lights or their response to a consumer issue. Show details

Promising ARLEC Product is a FAIL – If one spends $180 at Bunnings to buy what appeared to be the top of the range security light you’d expect it to work reliably. It doesn’t; just flashes on- off-on-off ... irrespective of settings, power circuit, masking of sensor, ... whatever we try or bench test. Arlec should replace or credit. Show details

Beyond worthless (Arlec 36W Triple Head LED Security Sensor Light) – Constant false triggering (Arlec 36W Triple Head LED Security Sensor Light) Purchased recently and installed by a professional electrician. Branch and leave movement causes the lights to go on constantly throughout the night much to the annoyance of the neighbour living below us across the street. We're pretty annoyed too. There is NO sensitivity… Read more

adjustment on this light, only range! Will be returning - pity Bunnings/Arlec won't be covering the electrician costs. This product isn't actually on Arlec's website - I strongly suspect they've pulled it given these problems and Bunnings is just running down their existing inventory of it.

Worst motion sensor – Motion sensor wouldnt work. Cheap, poor construction. Expensive for what you get. Bought it at Bunnings they need to pull this product from their line. I have heaps of smart devices and have installed with no issues. Show details

Once you get it to work , it works well – My first review around mid 2023 Arlec security light can not be manually adjusted. All has to go through the totally rubbish app. It MIGHT work in ideal conditions but not in a real world. The light goes on regardless day or night , stays on for 5 seconds and goes off. I installed the GRID Connect app , followed the detailed instructions .... … Read more

and gave up ... uninstalled. Money wasted !

A year later ..... I am a "stubborn [Content Removed]" so I kept trying to make it work ........ and finally it started working through app. Arlec must have fixed the app recently !!!. I have it working now for around 3 months and can control the security light from anywhere, even from overseas. ( Yes , I tried it out and it really works. ) Sometimes settings go back to factory settings ( max.sensitivity , 10 sec duration and max light level) but all it takes ti to adjust it back with the app. I like the duration to be 3 minutes. I will not give it 5 stars because of all the trouble I had before but I will review this review again in 6 months

Why are these still been sold – These are rubbish that Bunnings still sell- dont they read the reviews and figure out all the refunds-ACCC need to step in and tell them fix these faults or cease manufacturing them-always thought it was illegal to sell faulty goods.

Arlec Motion Sensor Ceiling LED Light (MAL626) – Light kept coming on constantly with nothing triggering the sensor. Would stay off for a small amount of time and then just come on when it felt like it. I adjusted the LUX and Timing at every level possible but nothing seemed to sort it out. Not a breath of wind around. After calling the Electrician 2 times to fix it, and costing me an… Read more

absolute packet, I decided to bin it (upon the Electricians advice), and opted for a more expensive light fixture. (Not Arlec) The new one works a charm with no problems at all.

I think that Arlec have possibly cheaped out on the sensor and this was the main cause of the issues I was having. Possibly a Sensitivity control would make it work better, but I would have expected more from Arlec Products. Very bad quality. Would not recommend purchasing their products.

Recently installed sensor light – Sensor light is faulty as maximum time it stays on is approx 5-7 seconds. Arlec won't cover under warranty as I don't have the Bunnings receipt and can't recall the date I bought it. Its clear looking at it(as it's white) it hasn't been up long at all. Very annoying..and come on, not everyone keeps every Bunnings receipt  Show details

Arlec Movement Activated Sensor Security Light – I have had the above Floodlights for a long time. Recently it would activate but only stayed on for about 10 seconds which was annoying and unsafe. After doing everything in Troubleshooting I was unable to solve this fault. I sent an email to ARLEC technical support explaining this and I received excellent customer service and the problem was solved! Suggest others try this approach before posting negative comments. Show details

Poor quality materials and faulty out of the box – Had an Arlec MAL925 motion sensor LED light installed. Guess what? It doesn't work... Well, we managed to get it to work 2 times after testing it on the bench and not in situ by randomly turning power on and off. We followed instructions 100% as to how to get it to work manually and automatically, but to no avail. So, a nice waste of money paying… Read more

Total waste of money – Purchased this light from Bunnings, had it installed by a qualified electrician, and it worked fine, until we noticed the next day that it was coming on in the day. We've tried every adjustment, but it appears the daylight sensor is not working at all and we will have to pay our electrician to come back and take the light down, and then pay him to come back again to install the new light (and that definitely won't be an Arlec). Show details

Cheap and nasty – I bought 5 Arlec LED outdoor sensor with twin globes (model MAL300) Only 1 work half decent. The rest of sensors work erratically and sometimes do not work (with one, I literally have to stand right In front of it and wave continuously like a madman). It claims that sensor picks up to 10m....only between 1 to 2 m. Light output is okay, but no… Read more

as bright as I would expect for a 11w globe.

Poor product and poor quality control. Had to get my electrician to come back to take them all 5 down and replace with another brand which work like a charm.

Do not waste your money and extra electrician cost. I am writing this review to save others the hassle.

Utter garbage. Needs readjusting every week! – Utter garbage. Needs readjusting and resetting every week. Amazing that they don't design and test instead of guessing. First and last Arlec outdoor lighting product. Back to HPM brand, have installed many and never had an issue with them.

So disappointed! – So misleading and disappointing. Does not perform as stated on the box. Virtually $175.00 wasted + cost for electrician to install. So now I'm stuck with a useless light. Daylight robbery.

Arlec MASSL - Comes on and stays on - so much for motion activated! Bad Electronics!!!! – Light stays on and the light won't go into auto mode! Even after following the instructions to switch it from manual to automatic or adjust timing, lumens or sensitivity it will not turn off. After reading all of the other reviews (same problem), I fully agree this item is not worth the money, would strongly recommend not to purchase this item.

More Arlec rubbish – I am trying to be objective here, purchased two Arlec items from Bunnings, an Arlec Movement Activated Security Sensor and a heater; both failed within a week. So I can objectively say I have purchased my last Alec product ever!!! I am surprised they are allowed to sell these 240 volt mains connected devices given the poor quality.

Satisfied – I hear what people are saying, but I have two of these lights out front. They can be a bit temperamental (wind, cars, cats etc) but I have had mine for well over ten years without too much trouble. I am just about to replace one as its making a noise when it turns on. However as I said it is over 10 years old and is out in all weather. I will buy another Arlec as I feel I got my value for money.

Rubbish – This refers to the bunker sensor light. There is no adjustment for sensitivity. I put black tape over most of the sensor to avoid trees setting it off, but it still cycles on and off all night even when there is no wind or movement of any kind. i didn't keep the receipt. Waste of money and going in the bin.

Three out of three failed – We bought three of these, the circular white type that fits over a baton holder. All have failed within two years. Bunnings isn't interested in helping. Absolute garbage. Buy any other brand.

Poor Quality – Remote sensor only lasted 2 days before it failed. Worked like it was supposed to initially and adjustment was easy enough. But on the 3rd night the light would no longer work and sensor had to be replaced with a better quality product.

Terrible – Neither myself nor anyone else can make this light work, including my electric literate son. The instructions make no sense. The light works then doesn't. It switches on in the day and then stays on. It won't work properly night or day. Sometimes works. Sometimes doesn't. There's no pattern to this. It's random. I bought another because I'm an idiot and thought the first must be faulty. Nope. Same problems with the new one. Complete crap.

Terrible product from Arlec with customer service to match – I bought the Arlec Security Sensor Floodlight, item number MAL 214 from Bunnings. Looking at the Arlec box the unit came in, I thought it was a good buy and appeared to be exactly what I was looking for as it clearly shows the unit sitting flush against the wall when installed. This is a HARDWIRE product so I called my electrician and left him to… Read more

install while I was out. Once installed, I was appalled to see that the unit does not fit flush onto the wall as is clearly INDICATED on the Arlec box. The unit actually sits about 10mm away from the wall which is aesthetically unacceptable as it looks like the unit is hanging off the wall and was not installed properly. My second issue is that Arlec claim the unit is weather proof IP44 rated. Albeit the unit does come with a rubber seal on the back face of the Arlec Security Sensor Floodlight which is about 10mm away from the wall, unacceptable as there is no seal preventing water going down the electrical conduit pipe in the wall. My third issue is that I have effectively created a haven for Redback spiders and had I seen this unit prior to purchase, I would NEVER have entertained even the thought of purchasing it. I wrote to Arlec numerous times but nothing would convince them of any merits to my complaints. According to Arlec, they were unable to see anything misleading regarding the mounting of the floodlight. In my reply I suggested they needed glasses as when I provided photographs of the installation to Bunnings personnel they concurred, adding that knowing what they now know, would not buy a Arlec Security Sensor Floodlight. All Arlec offered was that if am unhappy with the product, I can get my electrician to remove it (at my cost) and return it to the place of purchase. It should be noted that almost ALL Arlec sensor lights sit about 10mm from the wall. I intend taking this up with the ACCC as I feel it is blatantly misleading if not fraudulent as the Arlec Security Sensor Floodlight is totally different from what is shown on the box.
