in the scene icon where it shows 8 different preset? scenes there are 4 colour bars…one is obvious the colour choice graded bar…but what are the other three bars for? It would be lovely if this wasn’t such one big guessing game.

in the grid connect app there is a scenes icon which shows 8 scenes such as nighttime, reading, colourful, dazzling etc. What are these for and are these the same scenes in the automation and scenes section of the app. Totally and utterly confused.

why is the globe blinking low light to bright?

Derek W.

It is flashing because it is ready to pair with the Grid Connect app on your phone. Download and install the app if you haven't already done so and follow the instructions.

I have automation setup on alexa to turn light on when motion is detected. Alexa turns the light on, sets brightness to 100% and changes to cool white. Issue is, it flicks straight back to the last setting i.e say I had the bulb on red, Alexa will play the automation turning the light on to cool white but then it immediately goes to red. Alexa has 2 automations setup, 6am-10pm motion detected turn on cool white 100%, 10pm-6am turn on orange 1%. When I go to bed I have to tell Alexa to change the bulb to orange 1% otherwise it'll play that automation but flick back to cool white 100%, same goes for during the day if I don't tell Alexa to change bulb to cool white 100%. Same thing happens if I set this up with google home. Can I fix this?

My led strip lights wont enter pairing mode. I've tried turning it off and on 3 times, then 4, then 5 and I've tried holding down the power button but nothing is working. What else can I do?

Dear Ruby, I reckon this is the worst product in history maybe since asbestos. It's not your fault. It's bad design. Put it back in the box, take it back to the shop, and demand a refund. I hope this helps, don't blame yourself.

Best, Donovan (another frustrated Arlec victim)

well I bought them a while ago and they're already set up so I can't exactly return them. I tried to pair them when I first got them but gave up and just tried again now. Other people have been getting them to work and I don't get why mine won't

Why does it only have white mode

Andrew

They can do any colour imaginable, the colour can be selected in the Grid Connect app

I have the app. It barely changes colour at all. Goes from white to a pale yellow. Not what I expected when looking at the box.

I have 6 smart lights and 2 cameras all running on grid conect and they all were easy to pair but I tried the arlec smart plug and it would not pair in any mode, it ended up trying to pair using its own WiFi signal and cause a crash in my android phone and upon reboot I could not reconnect to the WiFI on my home router and two laptops to loose their connection as well and after speaking to the Teck department of my internet provider was told it looked like a device on my WLAN had somehow overwritten the internet address of my router and cause it not to be recognized by my devices. Subsequently I had to uninstall everything, re set my passwords' and user names and get the IT department of my internet provider to preform a new set up of my modem, this all took a full day sitting at a screen and on the phone to help lines. If you are thinking of using any of these devices I strongly advise not using their WiFi recognition pairing mode and if the easy mode doesn't work then return the product to place of purchase or spend a day getting your entire WiFI and router reconfigured. Any answers would be helpful as Im about 3 devices away from a full smart home.

None of that makes sense. An attached Wi-Fi device can't modify your modem / router ISP IP Address - absolutely impossible. It sounds more like your modem / router had a problem that happened when you were trying to connect a device to it, but it was not CAUSED by the device. The problem lays with the modem / router

Can the bulbs display the full spectrum of visible colors or only the choice of 3 colors (RGB) + white?

John

Is it possible to control multiple globe rather than each one individually

Peter
Peter

Sure thing. You can assign a collection of globes a group name. For example, I have a floor standing lamp that uses three globes in it. I can control them individually or using the group name turn them all on/off using the app or a smart assistant. Being able to still control them individually means I can also assign them separate colours (or levels of brilliance) individually. This is assuming you have the model globes that support this of course.

Install smart light with not issue, however the light is flicking in white mode, color mode flickers less. Any ideas what causes this?

The light just wont enter pairing mode (blinking). I tried to do the 5 times quick on & off so that it resets, but it doesn't even do that. Just switches on and off like a regular light.

Hi Nik - just got some of these and worked out that the issue was with our home wifi set up - we have a dual modem and have the usual set up via the 5gig rather than 2.4ghz. We set up a second home wifi for the 2.4ghz and then it has all worked smoothly. My mobile is happy to use the 2.4 set up at the moment but we can switch between quite easily if needed. Hope this helps

Thanks for that @jen_w1. I finally figured out what the issue was. The moment I was about to rage quit, I tried again and it worked. Basically I need to be faster through the on's and off's and it needed 4 on/off cycles. But yes for anyone who has the modem which have both 5 ghz & 2.4 ghz the lights will only pair when your mobile device is on 2.4 ghz. As a tech I always keep my devices on 5 ghz but I have my mobile connected to 2.4 ghz connection if I need to make changes to the lights. I have too many of these and I have paired all of them and timed the ones which are outside. works like a charm. Have a good day and stay safe.

For pairing, the globe needs to be powered on first. The turn it off and on 5 times. It doesn't need to be to quick, just a steady pace and count off/on 5 times. Then open the Grid Connect app, add a new device and do an auto scan. You will have to put in your wifi password at some point to make sure it can connect to the globe through the router. It doesn't matter if your phone is on 2.4/5 ghz, as long as your router is setup to be dual band it should have no issues.
