Wouldn't Buy Another ASCO – We purchased the Asko D5893 XXL dishwasher in 2010 during a kitchen renovation. My kitchen coordinator, recommend I replace even though I had a perfectly good/working GE Profile dishwasher (purchased in 2000). I should have gone out and looked at the dishwasher before purchasing. My first look was at install (my mistake). I immediately… Read more

noticed the door & racks had a cheaper/lighter feel than my previous dishwasher. Fortunately, I kept the GE as a secondary/backup for holidays/parties in the bar area. I'm glad I did because it's always cleaned better than the Asko. Also, similar to other reviewers, Asko panel display cracked & half of it has been broken off for several years. I was quoted over $400 for a replacement part, which I refuse to pay, so the buttons are exposed. Recently we received an error message saying Water Line Fault, which I'm waiting to hear how much to repair. Knowing what the other part cost, I'm certain I'll be replacing this dishwasher. I also had a difficult time finding people that work on Asko products.

dissatisfied – overall I have been pretty disappointed with this machine. like some of the other comments, I have had issues with its cleaning of the top rack. we have also more recently had an issue with the touchscreen panel getting moisture in it and it stops working. The quote to replace it has been $200-300 + labour ($35 per 15 mins + call out). For the… Read more

cost of the machine ($3000 if I recall correctly) I certainly had higher expectations for what is sold as a premium product.

Cheap old dishwasher at my old house works better than this! – This dishwasher is the source of serious frustration in my life. As per other reviews, I have to wash most of the top shelf by hand as there are baked on particles left on most of these dishes. Not sure if it's chemicals that remain but I'm really reluctant to use any of these dishes to feed my family. Some of the cycles work and others just… Read more

pump water endlessly without actually washing anything.

God forbid if you would like your dishes washed in under 3 hours - these cycles simply do not work (unless you then want to dry every dish manually).

The Asko service man has been out to my house 3 times under the extended warranty and now has basically given up. Not good enough!

A cheap dishwasher that we had in our old house was far superior to this waste of money.

Good and bad – Have had dishwasher for just on five years.Firstly dishwasher has performed well in its task of washing dishes but over the last 6 months the control panel has started to lift away. We can now only read half of the panel. My wife is an interior architect and has specified 5 of these machines and we just hope her clients don't blame us if the same thing happens. Hard to find products that last these day especially at the cost of these machines.

Owned it for 5 years and am over it not cleaning properly! – We have been persevering with this because of high purchase price but I am seriously considering getting rid of it as regularly have to rewash by hand most of the top shelf items because of small particulate baked onto & onto the items. The control panel has been replaced once because it cracked - took a long time to get service guy to come out… Read more

then he forgot to order part, etc just before the 2 yr warranty ended. Now the new control panel has cracked again in the same place. Very quiet dishwasher but needs to wash the dishes properly. We do maintenance and clean out filters and citric acid rinses.

Unsure what other dishwasher to get to replace it though. Any advice?

Disappointed in ASKO – We bought an ASKO thinking we'd be getting one of the best dishwashers on the market, but after 5 years the electronics have failed and quoted $600-$700 to repair. Whilst I could live with that my main disappointment is with the follow up service from ASKO! I have contacted them by phone (twice left messages with someone) and email (via their own… Read more

Quiet, large, fantastic performance – At the time of purchase we had owned an Asko washing machine and dryer for 8 years and had been very happy with their performance. We tossed up between Asko and Miele but decided to go with the Asko and are very pleased we did. We've had the dishwasher 2 years now and have been very satisfied. As with a previous reviewer we found the silence of… Read more

the machine a big surprise. We likewise had to turn down the TV to check that it was working. The size is fantastic for our family of 5. We basically only need to run the machine once per day. However it's the performance that surprised us most. We don't rinse our dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher but they still come out sparkling clean, even after the weetbix baking on all day! We also don't notice any smells in the machine which has been an issue on previous brands we've owned.

On the negative side we also had the LCD screen fail within the 1st month but Asko responded promply and repaired it. The serviceman did explain that the buttons are light sensitve which means to activate them you just cover them lightly with your finger. I'm not sure if pushing on the screen buttons contributed to the failure but since we were "re-educated" it hasn't missed a beat in 2 years of use. The other slight negative was that when we 1st started using the machine the dishes didn't dry properly. However, after a couple of cycles the dishes dried progressively better to the point where after about a month they dried perfectly every time. I suspect that there may be a sensor that determines the drying time (similar to the Asko condensor dryer) and that the sensor required some use to calibrate correctly. Extra large load capacity, super quiet, fantastic performance, completely reliable since the LCD screen issue. LCD screen failing within the 1st month, initial problems with drying of the dishes.

Excellent capacity, very quiet – I purchased this dishwasher as I was so impressed with my Asko washer and dryer (13 years old and still going strong). I had previously used Miele dishwashers, and was unimpressed with Miele's service and the problems that I'd had with every Miele appliance I'd owned in 2x kitchens. The Asko dishwasher has been a fantastic choice - it fits an… Read more

amazing amount in it, takes awkward pots and pans and long stemmed wine glasses, washes like a dream (even quiet heavily soiled dishes), and is very quiet. I've had it for 1 year, and couldn't be happier. fits a lot long wash cycles, although this seems to be the norm on all Euro appliances now.

Extra large – I bought this washer because it is the largest i could find. I love the room it has for large plates and pots. It is whisper quiet and i recommend this machine to people in small apartments where operating noise level is important. I had an issue with the lcd screen failing within one month of purchase. Asko service was fantastic, replacing the… Read more

screen very quickly. The dishes are washed well, even with short wash function (aprox 1. hr). Huge capacity, aftersales service, quiet operation, build quality Long washing time on "normal wah'', Touch pad lag

Why did I wait so long for a decent dishwasher? – We inherited our old dishwasher with our house and have been patiently waiting for it to properly die before I could get a newbie. In this time I researched dishwashers comprehensively. I narrowed down to Bosch and Asko. longevity and quality.

Upon seeing the 2 brands side by side I had a clear winner. The Asko is solid, clever in its layout, flexible and inspired. The Bosch looked like every other dishwasher.

I purchased on the Thursday and it was delivered by Asko on the Monday - when tey said it would be delivered (no waiting all morning)

It is amazing. Such a flexible inside, clever little tricks here and there, multiple setting and options and as sturdy as.

Most importantly

- its whisper quiet

- it washes like a dream

- everything seems to dry

Yes the $2000+ price tag is steep but for something used at least daily it's worth every penny and is far superior in quality and performance to others we looked at. Also we got 2 baskets, various trays etc all included.

I am now a raving fan Build quality, cleaning ability, flexibility, number of different settings, brilliant layout, generous with accessories overall 10/10 performance

only the best – Had ours for 3 years and cannot fault it. Always cleans well, whisper quiet and supremely reliable. There is no doubt that this machine is the very best and rates equal with Miele that we used to have but much cheaper. It is so quiet we have to switch off the TV to make sure it's working!  Show 4 replies
